- Anon replies to Annoyed In OhioFile a lawsuit and record every time they call (your cell phone bill should have a record). You could be awarded $1000 per call for harassment.
- Anon replies to FED UPPay the original creditor. Don't pay them.
- Anon replies to MOE42Pay the original creditor.
- Anon replies to fIf she is not the debtor, it is illegal for them to repeatedly call her phone. File a complaint or sure them. The penalty for harassment is $1000 per call.
If she owes the debt, then you need to follow the procedures in the Fair Debt Collection Act to prevent them from calling. - McDonald's replies to COLLECTORYes, I swallowed my pride and got a part time job after I got laid off. Unfortunately minimum wage only pays for my basic expenses, not my credit card bills I used to be able to afford before I got laid off.
And just because people are paying SOME bills does not mean they have money to pay ALL the bills. For example, my tooth just broke off, so I chose to pay the dentist instead of my cell phone bill since I could only afford one.
Some of us had PERFECT credit before getting laid off. So don't be an [***]. Do you think I like being broke and not being able to pay my bills? Do you think I am happy that I no longer have PERFECT credit because I lost my job.
Not all of us are deadbeats [***]. - Wrong Number replies to Gettem' Back| 1 replyIts not a good idea to harass them as you suggested. It is immature and illegal. But every time they call you, you can call back once, and that probably won't be considered harassment since you are returning their call. Plus it will cost them money every time you call them (since an 800 number is a reverse long distance call). It will also waste their time.
- Calling for Wrong Person Over and Over replies to Wrong NumberI had a different collection agency call repeatedly for someone I knew, but they were calling my home phone and seemed to think he lived there. They would not listen to me when I told him that he did not live here, and they always call in the morning when I was asleep (I worked the night shift so I slept during the day). At first I was polite but eventually I had to resort to cussing them out, and then calling them back on their toll free number to cuss them out a second time. I tried to be the polite guy, but the only way to get them to stop calling was to be an [***].
They would call and ask for the person who did not live here. I would ask is this (I forgot the name of the collection agency). They would say yes. I would say that the reason why I knew it was them was because they are the only people calling this number looking for this particular person who does not live here, and they need to stop calling. They would apologize and say they would remove my number and then call back later, sometimes the same day, same week or the following week. I, of course, would call them on their 800 number immediately after they called me and tell them to remove my number and to check the caller ID and notice that the name on the caller ID is not even close to who they are asking for. I tried to be nice at first, but these jerks would only respond to me cussing them out so that is what I did. They eventually stopped calling because either they realized that they had the wrong number, or more likely figured that I would never pay them and it was costing them money and time every time I called them back on their 800 number. Besides, why should I pay someone else's debt. It's not my fault they have the wrong phone number. - Barney in Bamberg SCGot a call from these slease balls.Looking for Otis Ellis.Have told them 5 times I never heard of the guy.Told them To stop calling me,My friend Says they use 866-310-9843.Have reported them. They call at 8 and 9 PM.They are a collection agency.LTD Financial

I called the # this lady gave to my mom and she said she was trying to collect a debt that was bogus. It was from Home Depot and was totally incorrect. She stated that I was to fax verification to them at 713-741-2100. I explained that her information was incorrect and she proceeded to gat an attitude. I told her to not call me or anyone associated with me again. Watch out...these folks are a pain in the ass.

They are calling me on my cell phone, but not leaving any messages. If they are a collection agency -- what the heck!? I have NO outstanding debts so why would a collection agency be calling me???? If they don't have the balls to first send official correspondence, making me aware of a potential debt, then shame on them!
