- ChrisI received a letter in the mail from this company that you all are talking about. I emailed them because they say I owe 3500.00 in a BofA card that I never opened. I have tried talking to BofA disputing the charges. I have asked BofA for proof that I personally opened it, how it was opened, who signed to open it and signatures of any transactions.BofA laughs at me, calles me a liar and a thief! That comes from both an employee and a supervisor. I emailed this Collection agency, and they will not return any of my emails askingfor proof nor will they return my calls. I have my own bank, and I don't need to have a card from that crappy, rude bank. What should I do? In the letter, they are threatening to sue me if I tell them it's not me (which it's not). For both BofA and this collections place, if I ask for proof before agreeing to anything, don't they have to supply me with that proof?

- DawnMy sister took a message from this company, they called from a 412 area code number which appeared to be a local number which i feel is misleading...but gave her this 800# to call back. I don't trust any of these numbers or calls anymore after being taken for over $600 in a fradulent call, I don't think this company is at all affiliated with the company that scammed me, but in my opinion I don't trust anyone.

- DanI got a harrassing phone call from them one day making threats and such and when I asked the speak with the supervisor the guy hung up on me. I called them back immediately and asked for the supervisor, not sure if the guy was or not but I had him on speaker phone and he said "are we on speaker phone?" I said yes, then he replied "I can't talk to you if we are on speaker phone" I asked "why? are you afraid that you might say something illegal that someone else can hear?" He replied "if we are on speaker I can't talk to you? I took him off speaker phone, clicked record on my computer and about 20 seconds after I took him off speaker, I put him right back on speaker phone and recorded the conversation. He went on to be a jerk and make ridiculous threats towards me. At the end of the conversation I told him "oh by the way I have recorded this entire conversation, do you want me to play it back for you?" I haven't had any trouble with them since. Every now and then they still call my cell number, but if you are like me if I don't recognize the number, I send it directly to voice mail. They never leave a message.

- Not BoTwo calls on my cell wanting to speak to "Bo Hoadley." The first call was just some guy, and he gave up when I told him (twice) he had the wrong number (he did not mention the purpose of the call). A couple days later, a voice mail for "Bo" was left on my cell, a gal with a very formal message (including that the call was regarding collection), requesting a return call to their number with extension 2857.
Don't know "Bo," don't appreciate the wasted time. At the very least, they should have to pay for the cell phone minutes they are costing everyone.- Caller: LTD Financial Services

- Tiredofallthecrap replies to AnonymI had this company call me and tell me that if I don't settle a collection from 10 years ago, that was dealt with already, they were going to show up at my house, force their way into my house and take my possessions until the amount was settled. I told them that to go right ahead and show up, but when they show up and force their way into my house, I will consider that as a threat to my children and put them out in an "1800's way". They then said that I was threatening them and I said that if they want a threat that when they show up to the door, the police will be waiting to arrest them for trespassing on private property. They still call, but I gave up on the answering of the phone. What nerve of some people. I just wish I lived close to these people because I would pay them a visit with an Attorney.
- ChucklesThese guys called here several times without leaving a message. I read these comments and couldn't resist. They called last night asking for someone unknown to me and I told them I don't care who LTD is, I'd never pay the buffoons a cent for any bill. The collector got ruffled and said the account would be reported to the credit bureau. I said 'That's it? That's your big threat? You're going to tell on me?" He hung up.

- DisputedThis company called with a local number coming up on caller ID as I have caller block on my phone and have blocked several other attempts to claim I owe a debt to a company I never heard of.. Calvin told me that often when they call out it picks up the area code that they are calling....bogous. If I remember about this charge from 2008 that I never had and want to make arrangements to pay on it to call him back, LTD financial is a third party collector for Calvery Collection Agency.
I am turning this over to my attorney as this is not my charge and Texas Civil Statue Sec.16.004 states that statute of limintations in the state of Texas is only four years.

- thetiredandthepoor replies to AnonymOnce a debt has been written off by a company, and have they taken the right off from the government, I don't understand how scumbags like ltd. can come along and either buy it up for pennies on the dollar or even remove your information from their trash and force someone to pay to them ~ complete strangers. This needs to be changed. It shouldn't even be allowed! So many people have lost jobs, businesses, etc. in this horrible economy. I was paying a debt to a company after my husband lost his job. Money was not coming in regularly and who can live on $784 twice a month and pay everything? They dropped me after I was 4 days late on a payment because the funds would not be available...it was an auto draft, I even called before and they wouldn't cancel the auto draft from my bank or postpone it...it didn't go through because I am not signed up for the overdraft protection since there is no savings account to pull from! Anyhoo that caused overdraft fees, dropped from the payment program..no prayer! Now I am getting calls from these people...Woman who speaks in a deep, almost inaudible voice, pronounces name wrong, account numbers, address yadayadayada. Then my neighbor comes over with her cell phone and shows me the call on her phone on which they called her to inquire about me and wants to know if she knows me and lives by me! That is an invasion on my neighbors privacy and I told her that she should tell them that she will be contacting her attorney if they call her CELL again. They are ruthless and you are right I can't even imagine having such a horrible job. Obviously they don't care about themselves, their own character or anyone else! Desperate people doing desperate things. And if they don't know that good people do their best to pay and no one, and I mean no one knows what changes are around the corner that may put anyone in the same predicament. People want to pay their bills but if they don't have it...they just can't. $#*t happens! Someone once told me that they succumbed to their tactics, paid them, they wanted more and years later another collection agency sued them for the same bill. They need to be put out of business. And shame on the original debtors for dealing with such scum as ltd.
- The Green PeopleCalls from this number are coming to my number that used to be with someone they are looking for.
Having said that . . .
Of the many messages they have left, I have learned alot by listening to the agents talk while they are waiting for a person and not knowing that the answering machine is recording them.
So, if you do owe someone money here is what I picked up in their conversations between themselves:
1) They said that the lowest settlement the company will take is 35% but they start at 75-80% when talking with the debtor.
2) Each state has a certain number of years, usually between 3-5 years, before a statute of limitations kicks in and the debt is no longer collectible from the debtor so they cannot legally try to collect it.
Yes, they are trying to collect money from people that owe it AND it is up to all of us as citizens to know the law and our rights in these circumstance especially during these still challenging times.
