This was bizarre today.  Received two calls from this number four minutes apart stating that there was a problem in my area that could impact my FIOS service, which would affect my phone, my TV, and my computer service and would not be fixed until 3:45 AM (first message) or 3:49 AM (second message). Second message (robo) asked if I wanted update phone calls to press 1.I could also go on the web and adjust my settings; which I did not do.  What I found strange, among other things, is that if it would affect my service, how could I receive update phone calls, and how could I go on any web site to update anything?

I received a phone call from 800-837-4966. I looked online and found it has sometimes been associated with Verizon. I had some work done with Verizon yesterday but there was no reason for them to call me. I believe it is someone else using that number to phish.

Called my mobile late in the evening.  No ID. No message.  Cannot possibly be Verizon, I have never done business with Verizon.  However, they have not behaved in a way consistent with a legitimate business concern.

I've got a FiOS installation happening in 2 days, and this was Verizon calling to confirm the order.  It was a legit call.

I had to call Verizon yesterday to ask some questions about DSL. They were resolved. Calls are now coming from this number but no one is ever there. WTF?

It is Verizon. In my case they were calling because I had reported a problem (their server failed in the CO) but that was resolved over a month ago. Seems that their trouble reporting system has a few flaws, kije the responsible person fails to close the trouble so they bother the customers to verify the problem is fixed.

Verizon has a function allowing customers to block selected numbers, up to 5 number for free, last time I looked.  The blockage expires after a while, but you'll peace in the meantime.

I received a letter from Verizon (their letterhead and all) asking me to call 1-800-837-4966 in response to "recent correspondence."  I had no idea what they were talking about so I called them today.  It turns out the only "option" was to press "1" to get some "great" offer.  Why in the world would a responsible company allow such crap?  Or did I just answer my own question.

I get a voicemail telline me that Verizon is updating copper telephone wire to fiber optics in my area.  They say they need me to arrange an appointment with them Mon - Fri, 8am to 7pm for a free upgrade to the fiber optics.  They left a number 1 855 661 8714 to make the appointment with them.   Is this a scam?   I read somewhere else on the web that this update is really NOT needed and NOT really free.  I also plan to put a note on their website to ask for clarification.

I received several calls from this number, beginning at 11:24 PM. When I hung up, the caller they would call right back. No one spoke. when the call went into voice mail, the caller would hang up and try again.  I had to unplug my phone to get the calls to stop. I don't believe this is coming from Verizon.

I just spent hours on phone with Verizon because of problems with internet and phone service. Because CID said "unknown" I did not answer. They need to identify if they want me to answer.

Got a call from this number today stating they were from Verizon.   They asked me if I know someone from a company and they were calling on his behalf because I was on his phone bill and it was long-distance.   I said I know the owner of the company and that "how could it be long distance if we're in the same area code?"      She asked me for my name and thanked me.   I immediately called my friend (and owner) of the company she mentioned.    He had no idea they called me, nor why they called me.   Odd.   Be careful with what information you share over the phone with someone you do not know.
