- CurmudgeonCredit card rate reduction scam call again, this time with spoofed CID to show CAPITAL ONE and showing their legitimate number. Dangerous scam to get your credit card and financial information. Caller, heavily accented, obviously calling from boiler room call center in India again. SCAM!

- ElleenGot a call from someone with broken English and said they were calling for Experian and that they wanted to lower my credit card debt. I said well let me call Experian and see what's going on so I will personally know from them. He said no they do not answer calls and I told him I called recently and that I was calling and he said he would call and tell them to block my call and they would not answer.
- Caller: Experian
- Call type: Unwanted
- MichelleThis is a scam. They called me with thick foreign accent trying to approve me for a new card and asking me for SSN. I pissed them off and they called me back using a spoof number. If you call the 800 number it says capital one, also comes up capital one on caller ID. Beware.

- angryGrammaThe number is real, but the caller id info was NAME UNAVAILABLE. So this is a spoofed call with a real Capital One service number. We don't have a Capital One card so it has been blocked.

- KernelGThe Hiya app on my phone said this was indeed Capital One calling (with a green checkmark, no less). So I answered, forgetting I have no Capital One accounts anymore. All I could hear on the other end was an extremely loud call center, obviously not a bank. I asked 'hello?' three times out of curiosity, no answer. Hung up. Reported this on Hiya as a spoofed number scam, and now checking here to corroborate. Yep.

- EJThe caller ID said Capital One. But when I picked up the call, he offered me a credit card but did not identify himself as a Capital One Employee. He had an accent and was very upset with me when I said I wasn't interested in a credit card. He proceed to tell me he's not offering me a card but can decrease my interest rate on my current credit card. I don't have a debt with Capital One and am not interested in decreasing my credit card interest rate. He was about to ask me for my current card number when I repeated I'm not interested. He then hung up on me. RUDE!

- VtanI received a call from (800) 955-7070 with caller ID as Capital One. After I answered, the caller was like Indian accent that he called from Visa/MC with a good rate. I asked him what company, he never said anything about Capital One. He said he has a low rate for credit card. I told him that I pay off every month and he just dropped the call. Sound scam to me

- Ar| 1 reply1) I do not have a Capital One account, so there is NO REASON to call me.
2) I do not put my cell phone number on my bank accounts, so there is NO REASON call my cell.
3) They had no information in there system associated with this phone number.
So, it is 100% a SCAM call. Why do they keep calling people, because there are so many people who will just rattle off and give them whatever they ask for: Account Number, Address, Phone Number, Social Security Numbers, Mother's maiden name, Personal Identification number, their ATM care number, any credit card numbers they have associated with their Chase Account.- Caller: FAKE Capital One
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BigA replies to ArWhat does the Chase Account have to do with a Capital One account? Are you trying to say that these Capital One impersonators are asking for Chase Bank account details?

- PALAS ID theft victim ((T-mobile) I now have SPAM KILLER, but this caller ID appeared as CAPITOL ONE so I took call. When I asked for caller's full name he immediately hung up. I reasoned it was a "phlishing attempt related to a letter Capitol One Fraud unit sent 1 week ago & tried to notify Capitol One 1st) thru their "so called CS Dept," which blocked me claiming I had "different Birth date on their records( 2) called & asked for a live person in Fraud Dept & was transfered 4 times which leads 1 to conclusion they aren't interested in theft & people pretending to be them. ( 3) called FTC to complain that their letter sent last week advising me of a compromised hacked retail acct they took over, apparently now trying fraud me via my cell phone, offered NO HELP; nor acted interested in complaints posted here ti 800 Notes about that number.

- Nick replies to Jason| 1 replyI checked my credit reports an it shows a closed account from 2016 from capital one an had the contact number listed as 800-955-7070 but i dont remember opening an account with them but cld be wrong but im sure i didnt but i dont know how to ask them to confirm it was mine without givin my info an them using it against me, any advice
- BigA replies to NickHmm, so "Jason" clearly posted here in 2007. Are you really expecting him to stop back after 14 years to give you advice? You are scared to call Cap One at a known published phone number? What does "using it against me" mean? I guess if you are scared to give your info, which the clearly already have anyway then you are out of luck because even if you dispute it with the credit bureau you will have to provide your info. All I can say is Good Luck!
