Credit Card Scam

Just received a call about my Visa and Mastercard and they are lowering my interest rate based upon Experian credit rating.  'You are familiar with Experian, correct?'  I asked which specific card he was referencing and was told 'all of them.'  I said since he had my Experian report, he can tell me all the credit cards that will be getting the lower rate.  'Ma'am all of your cards.'  Again, I asked for specific cards.  He then told me he was removing my name from their list and I will not get the lower rates because I am not cooperating.

Got a call from this number with caller ID saying Capital One, not capital One Bank.  I answered the call, the person identify him as card member service  related to Visa and Mastercard, never identify himself as from Capital One.  I just told him not to call again and hangup.

Phishing call from scammer. Spoofed number.

Our phone number has been on the government's DO NOT CALL list for OVER 10 years, but we still get marketing calls and robo calls. Received call today from this number which is an unknown phone number and in violation of federal DO NOT CALL law - they hung-up, did not leave message - probably a SCAM, robo or telemarketing call - we BLOCKED this number.

"If you answer, it may reactivate the debt." Nope! But making a payment or signing a new contract will "reactivate the debt".

I didn't answer - I NEVER answer unknown numbers. If it's important, they will leave a message. This number didn't. I see a lot of people saying it is Capitol One (probably spoofed though). I don't have a card with them. So, I blocked the number.

Called @2:24pm PT. Did not answer. No message. I do not and never have had a Capitol One credit card or account.

Called my cell phone but I declined the call because it shows the call is from unknown. I did block the call and they did not leave a message. But from reading all the post on this, it is clear it is scammers. I have never had Capital One.

Some woman with an Indian accent called me from this number. It said "Capitol One" (which is my bank) on the Caller ID so I answered it. However, the woman didn't mention that she was with Capitol One and only said she was from "Card Services". It threw up a red threw up a red flag that it was a scam when she said she was with "Card Services" and also didn't call me by name. I hung up and I'm going to block the number. If Capitol One needs to contact me they can email me or let me know on the app that they're trying to contact me. I'm not messing with stupid scammers! They can all go jump in the lake for all I care!! 😡

An unknown caller purporting to represent the "Visa and Mastercard Department" at "Experian" pushing a standard "interest rate reduction" scam. Probably spoofed the number.

I received this same call. However, in addition they asked how much I owed on my credit cards. So I told them I owed such and such. She then asked if that included all my credit cards. I told her that she was calling from Capital One, and that was the only card I had with them. Apparently I didn't owe enough so she hung up on me. She said I had to owe at least $3000 to qualify.

Credit card scammers again.  Spoofed CID said "CAPITAL ONE".  Lying scum suckers!

Received a call from this #. CallerID listed as 'V71318562601177'. Left no msg. I Googled 800-955-7070 & there were all sorts of reports that this is a Capital One scam. Number comes up as Capital One but it is spoofed, not real.  DO NOT B FOOLED! Verify by calling Capital One if u r concerned.

Impersonating Capital One via what is known as 'caller ID spoofing'.

Received a call from this number this morning, which worried my sister as she defaulted on a Capitol One card 13 years ago during the "Great Recession" when they arbitrarily raised their APR, ensuring default. The debt was sold to Portfolio Recovery who has been calling her non-stop even though the SOL expired years ago and they can't sue her. I came here and told her not to worry about it, as they are calling people who do not own a Capitol One card and they are not who they say they are. What is so funny is she is receiving credit card offers from Capitol One in the mail, which are fed through our shredder.

Missed their call.  Call was supposedly from Cap Fed.  Looked up the number and it brought me here.  Obviously a spoof scam.  8009557070 is a Capitol One number. Nice try but no cigar!

I too Googled the number and it said Capital One. However, I have never had a Capital One credit card. So, I know this is a scam. All my years of having a credit card, I have never had this one.
