I am getting calls from this number everyday for the past week- always while at work and unable to answer. When I called back I was prompted to enter my CapitalOne credit card number (yeah right- as if that's going to happen). I tried getting an operator onto the call only to recieve another automated prompt- this time asking me for my SSN (got to be kidding me right). Credit Card number? Social Security number? What reputable company has an automated system asking such stupid questions. My CapOne acct was compromised earlier this year  either through skimming @ a local retailer or through a data base compromise. Don't trust this number no matter what!

I had a call from this number, but no message left. I just got a new Capital One card in the mail, but have not activated it yet. My current card does not expire for 3 more weeks. They are probably calling because they sent it out but it hasn't been activated yet.

Just received a call from this number, 800-955-7070.  It is Capital One, I've used this number to contact them and have received calls from them at that number for 4 years.  They sent replacement cards at least a month ago and I forgot to activate them.  No big deal.

Today I received a call from 800.955.7070, but did not answer because it was a number I didn't recognize.  They never left a message,either.  These phone calls are annoying!!

I too have been receiving these calls and at present I am ill so I feel like I am really being harassed.  I just called the number and it was Capital One.  I first began by telling them to cease and desist calling me period and then I told them to cancel my account.  After some arguing they did agree to cancel it.  I will not do business with people who do this type of thing to their customers.

I told them I would cut there throat if they called me again. I'm an ex-felon on parole... So no matter what I do (Measure 11) I still go to prison 25 to life. Come on and fck w/me Capital One. I want to be on TV too!!!!

I just spoke with capital one and was informed this number to be capital one calling to verify that I had received my new/replacement CC.

not to worry, this number is not a fake nor are they trying to pull a scam on anyone. They are only looking out for our best interest...

Called my cell five times in 24 hours. Most likely a spoofed Caller ID as the number does not leave a message and the one time I picked up I said "Who is this?" and the line simply went dead.

If you think something is up, call Capital One direct rather than accepting a potentially harmful phone call.

I am getting a call from this number and when I answer it asks for my credit card number.  I called the real Capital One and was told that if they call someone it is always by a real person NEVER a machine.  This is a scam do not give them your information.

They told me it's their telemarketing number.  Told me it would take two to three weeks to get my number off.  They called me 6 times yesterday.

Ive been getting these calls daily twice a day or 2 weeks now. i refuse to answer and they refuse to leave a message. i cant believe people continue to post on here that its capital one, like "informed" posted on oct 10 yes the number is capital one, but capital one is NOT calling you. I do NOT have a capital one account and have not requested anything from them! and besides, what company calls you at 7:30pm and doesnt leave a message..obviously its fake.

Capital One: Person calling asked me to verify my zipcode, said they were from Capital One. - I do have a Capital One Card that I never use.
They are offering Identy theft protection though a company Intersections Inc. it is a compamy that monitors your Credit Reporting, etc.  Services costs $12.99/month @ 156/year.  

I am Never in favor of purchaseing anything from some one who calls me over the phone unsolicited.

This is a legitimate Cap One number.  Take the call.  They are probably calling to advise you about new federal regulations around credit cards effective February 2010.  They do not ask you for your card number, they only ask for you to validate your zipcode, they already have the card number and your name.  They just want to advise you that if you do not elect to have over-limit ability on your card, that effective 2/2010 they will decline any transaction that will exceed your limit.  If you elect to have over-limit (overdraft) ability on your card, they will allow the transaction and charge you a 29.00 fee for it.  Its new regulation for the credit card companies that they cannot charge you these fees anymore without you authorizing the ability on your account.  You can choose either option.

They call a couple of times every day.  Usually no answer.

I started receiving calls from 800-955-7070, no voicemail. I finally called the number and asked to be removed from their call list. I was asked if I wanted to receive promotional information from Capital One, I declined as I already have a Capital One credit card. I am surprised their phone solicitations got through my phone blocks. If it does not stop I will cancel my account.
