We have been getting several calls from this number per day. I never answer it. When I check messages there is never one from this number

Received a call from this number but couldn't answer. Called back and it appeared to be Capital One. I called the number on the back of my credit card and they were able to verify that it is in fact their direct line from customer service. Due to spoofing however I would be reluctant to accept a call. I will always call them back directly using the number found on my card and bll.

This is Capital One.  They have been calling every day sometimes twice a day.  Never anyone there.  I finally called number had them find out why they are calling. They were calling me to activate my new card.  No coincidence I get charged membership fee this month.  I am paying this card off.  So I canceled the card.  This eliminates the membership fee and you can take as long as you want to pay off without a membership fee if you pay the minimum each month.  Just a fyi for everyone. A positive note from this annoyance is an english as a first language speaker to assist me.  Thanks Capital One!  What's in my wallet??

Called me at work. Said he was from Capital One. Asked for my zip code. I gave it to him. Then he asked if I had recently moved and I responded yes. He asked for the address and I asked him to tell me what address he had on file. He couldn't. Asked for my phone #. I said it was the same one he just dialed. He said he was just calling to offer me free minimum payments if I get laid off and there was nothing wrong with my acct. I don'y know if it was really Capital One or not. I asked if I could call them back and he said sure. I'm not calling.

Capital One recognizes this 800-955-7070 as their customer relations number for telemarketing offers (such as insurance) and they have stated that they have begun calling their customers with these offers.  Please call the number on the back of your credit card to have your number removed from their call list.  I have reported this issue to their mgmt team as being a security concern for their cardholders.  NEVER PROVIDE _ANY_ACCOUNT INFORMATION TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE THAT YOU ARE NOT SURE THEY ARE WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE.

Received a call from this number. It was a telemarketer trying to sell the insurance on the card balance.

Called twice on my cell, nothing said when I answered the first time. They called again at 8:30pm. I have a Capital One card and just paid off the balance. I am supposedly on the do not call list. I do not want to be scammed.

They called this morning and let it ring once. They called this afternoon and I answered it. The caller said they were from Capital One and said they needed my zip code to verify me. I said I wasn't giving any info until I verified that it was really Capital One calling. He gave me his name and employee ID.

I called the number back. I asked if they had been calling me today, and the CSR said she did not have that kind of information available. I told her that if it was not Capital One, then they should be finding the scammers and shutting them down, and if it was Capital One, I didn't think
it was a very good marketing scheme.

The CSR told me my account had not been tampered with, and I would be taken off of the call list.

been getting a call from 1-800-955-7070 for about a week and no messages. like some others have said this is a correct phone number for cap1, however it can be masked from another number.

i called cap1 using the same number and kept hitting 0# when prompted for card number (mainly cause i don't have the card on me). of course i got an almost non speaka da engrish person on the phone and had him pull up my account with nothing more than my name.

he said there was nothing wrong with my account except that they didn't have a good "work" number for me. i thought he said "working" so i logged on real quick and saw that i did have a "working" number. i finally figured out that he said "work" number which is odd because i've had this card for 10 years and never had a work number entered. i told him to please make a note that they weren't getting my work number. sure enough i refreshed my online account and he updated it to 555-555-5555.

so best bet is if you get a call from anyone its ok to answer but don't give out info. ask them for their name or ext. and that you will call them back. i'll bet my bottom dollar they either hang up or don't give you the info.

Received a call from 800-955-7070.  i didn't answer, but called back and received an answering machine that requested my 16 digit account number.   I kept pressing numbers until i finally got a real person.  The person, who spoke with an foreign accent, asked for my account number and i told her i didn't carry it with me since i was at work.  She asked for my name and zip code.  She pulled out my account and called me by name.   She said she did not know why there was a call but checked for messages on my accounts.  After i got done with her...i checked the Capital One website for phone numbers listed.  Under Contact us, the number that showed up on my caller id was listed.  Still feeling uneasy, I called two of the numbers listed on the website and both times spoke with someone who had a foreign accent.  I guess it was a legitimate call....

Started calling recently.  Never leaves a message, and I never answer.

Thinking of closing account just, so the damn calls will stop.

I don't want ANY calls from ANY company regarding ANY offer, or anything.

I hate companies that use these practices, or start to use them.

This number calls once in awhile but never leaves a voice mail message and I don't answer calls that are not identified so whatever this company is selling, they aren't making anything from me and they won't, not interested in it.

I didn't answer because it was an 800 number I didn't call.  I have no idea who it is or what they want, but I'm sure it's not something I want.

I have received calls from this number and never answered. I googled the number tonight because I am tired of it. I do have a Capital One account, and just received emails thanking me for updating my phone number and address. I checked my account today online and it had my correct info (which has not changed in ten years). I will call them tomorrow to verify, but it all seems a little suspicious. I would be leery of Capital One emails. It seems something is awry.

It is a good phone number for capital One look on their website under contact us.  When I called back they just wanted a work phone number, because they did not have one listed.

Just got a call from this number a minute ago and after hunting around to be sure it's legit, I logged into my Capital One account and found that they had my address wrong. I think I know why - recently did a chargeback and the customer service guy in India couldn't communicate worth a crap, so he probably entered it in wrong.

If it turns out to be a marketing call I'll ask them to stop, but I'm glad it got me looking at my account to see why they'd possibly be trying to call me, since my account is not due at the moment.

Same as what everyone has said here about the number. I don't answer the call. No voice mail. Call's me 2 times a day past few days. Pissing me the hell off. Scam I believe.
