Just got my pantech phone yesterday.  Started getting the text spam everyone's talking about right away.  Am trying the verizon spam block omitting the first two "1"'s from the number.  Just got another text..., hope it's just because there is some kind of delay in the system.  If not, will call verizon back and speak so someone in tech.  Welcome to the World of Smart Phones!!!!

Last Thursday I upgraded my verizon phone to a "revolution", no sooner was I out of the parking lot I started getting text messages from the same number 118012222357 OZMAIL, to stop the messages reply (charge may occur).
I returned the phone on monday and established service on my old phone, the text messages went on througout the day and night.  I have several complaints that mimic everyone else but I will list them all anyway:
1. I called customer service 3 times on Monday to stop the Ozmail texts. Each customer service rep followed the same script, "I don't know why you are getting those, I promise I will help you and set up the block". Called back again on Tuesday, got the same script from another very nice customer service rep.
2. Verizon is 100% responsible for harassing me and everyone else who has complained about the same thing. This does not appear to be "problem", this is a deliberate invasion of my privacy by verizon and they are the only ones responsible for it.
3. Nobody even knows who OZMAIL is. What is their real affiliation with Verizon? I say follow the money trail and the answer will be at Verizons' door.
4. If you page through the threads on these ozmail complaints, they go back as far as 2009. Like, nobody at verizon has a clue about where they are coming from or how to stop them after two years?
I live in Virginia, if there is a petition to sue circulating, please reply and tell me where to sign up.

how or why this annoying message is being sent to my new i-phone is curiously disturbing.

We keep getting text from this number saying that if we want it to stop that we have to call the numner yet it says that charges may apply.  As soon as we delete the text, we end up with 3 or 4 more text immediately.  It just keeps happening and we don't know how to make them stop.

I just received the same texts message ... I am calling my carier texts may be charge for it..

I just got off the phone with Verizon wireless tech support (Steve) and he was able to fix the problem.  It has something to do with an email app called osmail.  He was not sure how it happens but said that they can delete the app on their end and that will stop the email.

It has something to do if you have a non-smartphone and us an email account and then convert to a smartphone the email account from the non-smartphone emails get converted to text messages on the smartphone.

It can be fixed contact Verizon Wireless and let them kow that you are having the problem and you have been told that it may be related to osmail.

I have talked w verizon i couldn't tell how many test angot a different  phone  am started  again . only  one lady knew how  to fix it they need some education

I have called Verizon 5 times and everyone says it is fixed but know one actually fixes it.

January 21 2012 I got two text from 801-222-2269  I tried to go to my Verizon wireless account to block the number.  Supposedly I can block 5 numbers for 90 days. Verizons web site would not acknowledge this as a real number so I could not block it.   HELP!  please

When you recieve the text does your ringtone sound different? Mine sounded like different tones of static. Every time i get the text...

Listen to this person.  I just got off the phone with Verizon and he said it was my phone trying to contact gmail to check for new emails and when it errored it sent me a notification.   I had a "not smart" phone and and used email on it (Osmail) until yesterday. The weird thing was that I had the app and the phone for over 2 years before this problem started.

I started getting texts from this number, as well as soon as I upgraded to a smart phone.  I ignored them for a week, and then got the message to text STOP to get them to stop.  Yes, it said charges may apply, there was no way I was texting over my limit, OR given any indication that this is an international number, so I texted STOP.  They stopped, but I do have the $0.25 charge for an international text on my phone.  Verizon must be RAKING in the money if even 1 out of 10 of their customers is texting STOP and getting charged a quarter (and how many people think, "It's just a quarter, I'm not going to bother to call to contest it).  Ridiculous.

thanks for the info, since activating my droid 3 last night, i have received 19 texts!!!  I got the confirmation that the number has been blocked!

what the heck? charged for this.... i have replied to it atleast 15 times.... ridiculous, technology is sooooooooo great, why can't i get this stopped

Think about this... you are One of Many do you really think Verizon or any of the other phone companies give a crap about the type of calls you're getting or when you get them? NO, they only care that you pay your bill on time, and if you don't then they too will be on your block list of numbers

Yea, technology and progress are great! Well at least until it starts working you and your privacy. Deal with it cause it's only going to get worse

after I switched to a new phone I have received 8 messages from this number, telling me that To stop this message simply replay to this one (charge may apply). the messages are coming in about every 20-25 minutes.

Read Verizon is /has stopped this. My phone is going back or I'm going txt my sales rep evertime I get another in the middle of the night!
