- Ryan9268| 1 replyHERE'S HOW TO STOP THE ANNOYING TEXT MESSAGES:
I got the BREW/ozmail text messages everyday too. All you have to do is change your email password on your computer at the website (comcast, yahoo or whatever). Then delete your email account on your phone and make a new one with the new password. I know the problem is text msgs not email, but this works with no side effects trust me. - blinxok guys, so the reason this happens is because you wen't from a regular phone (dumb phone) to a smart phone/blackberry. This happens because you had the notifications for mobile email on before. Now that you no longer have the dumb phone's software user interface the blackberry/smart phone doesn't recognize it as a notification so you just get it as a text. there are several ways to fix it. Such as reactivating your old phone and cancelling the program, or you have to get a vcast block on your pda, which shouldnt be an issue because you can't use vcast on it anyway.
- pissyCellUserIf you go to the 'About' screen on the application on your phone that lets you access your email on your phone, you'll notice that its written by a company called OZ Communications Inc. So, the above poster is correct. You just need to shut off the email notifications on your old phone. Also, I've noticed that if I'm in an area that has poor connectivity, I get those messages from time to time as well.
I bet those of you who are getting slew's of these messages probably have a bunch of email accounts set up, or you have one VERY active email addy. Those messages are coming to your phone to tell the email app that there's a new email waiting.
Part of the message says "BREW" then there's a code behind it.
BREW (which is part of the message) is the OS for the phone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_Runtime_Environment_for_Wireless
The rest is an instruction. - msegg| 1 replySwitched back to blackberry from EnV and calls started coming almost immediatly. Nothing in message but a series of numbers and letters. Always from the 11-801-222-2269 number. Tried to talk to Verizon who tried to tell me they were from videos downloaded months ago on the EnV (I never received any text after the downloads) and they keep telling us they will stop within 24 hours (it's up to 72+ hours now and they are still coming, but every conversation with Verizon they say "it will stop in 24 hrs). We blocked the 801-222-2269 number right away but it had no effect at all. We are unable to enter the number with the double 1s in front due to the way Verizon has set up the block function on the website. Checking our usage for the last 3 days, I found that each time we got the text our bill shows that WE sent a text to that number instead of receiving it. This is incredibly annoying, and given that they are able to make it look like we are doing the texting, a little scary. I won't rest until Verizon does something about it, even if I have to talk to every customer service rep they have.
- 801-222-2269 keeps texting me replies to mikeOkay I am Getting annoyed, no I am annoyed. I keep getting about 10 texts every half an hour. I just activated my new Blackberry from Verizon yesterday. HELP!! how many times do I have to keep responding Stop
- msegg replies to mseggUpdate, have tried changing password on email and then deleting connection from BB, then resetting email info on BB. No result. Getting more and more texts from 11 801 222 2269 every day. We are sending none but our bill shows that we are. What exactly is being sent from our phone without our knowledge or permission? So far no charges are showing up, but if they do, Verizon can count on them not being paid. Any more ideas about how to make them stop? We'd be most grateful.
- philam replies to AB| 1 replyThank you very much for the info.I got this message yesterday when I was in school, don't know what to do so i called Verizon and they told me what to do.Once again thank you
- rafael replies to philamwhat do you do?
- verizonuser replies to IceMan| 1 replyI just had this same problem when I switched from an Env2 (which I was using verizon's email client on) to a blackberry. The problem is that the email client (OZMAIL) is still trying to send you emails to your phone, but you don't have the email client on the new phone.
Solution: Call verizon support, make sure you tell them //BREW (there applications to go programs) and OZMAIL in the message. Get them to put you through to tech support. Tech support will have to put in a request to have the messages stopped. I don't know why when I cancelled the email client that they don't do that automatically but there it is. - MartyI keep getting this text. I bought a background report from Intellius and all it says is it a Qwest land line out of Provo UT

- jamesEach time the phone incurs a "hard" reset I get this txt BS. Most people at Verizon are clueless. Sooner or later you can get someone in tech who can block (yes, they really can block the full 118012222269 number, provided you get someone in tech who actually knows something about tech....) My "infection" stops each time I re-sync after a hard reset. Until then, I get the txt every 30 minutes or so. Truly ridiculous that Verizon is out to lunch on this one.
