- M replies to Carson BennettI called it back and the set up an appointment for me. They are stopping by. I called Spectrum, they have no record of an appointment.
- M replies to AriThat’s funny because when I called Spectrum. No appt existed in their system. Scam
- JohnReceived same text "We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you." Called Spectrum customer service number on their website, and they confirmed that the 833-778-2754 is from their "proactive department" and said it was a legitimate service request. I had received other texts from Spectrum from this same 5 digit code, so trust but verify.
- Caller: Spectrum
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Dewitt replies to JohnI received text from same short number advising me to call the 833 number due to a detected issue. Said service call would be free. I researched on line and decided to call. It was indeed Spectrum, saying a significant signal loss was detected and they would schedule me for a service appointment at no charge to find and correct the issue. Not one but two Spectrum service techs came this morning within the appointment arrival window. They are working outside now checking the cable from their hub to our outside junction box. They will come inside if necessary. Techs said our signal loss affects not only our video and internet quality, but can affect neighbors with feed from the same hub. Tech said they have worked a lot in our development to correct issues. This is perfectly legitimate and appreciate Spectrum being proactive.
- DaniI received same voicemail. I called the number back and asked for a contact name to provide with this phone number, so I could complete my inquiry on the Federal Trade Commission website...they promptly laughed and hung up.
- LisaI’m getting the same text messages as everyone else and I have no intention of calling the number they provide. The second text said “Spectrum: As a reminder, an issue is affecting your services. Call (833) 778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost.”
- Caller: 875-98
- Joyce WiseThis is not a scam! I called the number, talked to and set up an appointment with Spectrum today. They arrived. Changed connections outside my yard, outside my house and replaced the old modem. They arrived in a Spectrum Van, had all of the equipment

- DaytonOhioResThis is legitimate. I called Spectrum technical support using the trusted number on the bill, and they confirmed by checking notations on the account that their service department attempted to reach me. She said they have many numbers which could have originated the call. It turns out they found some "signal leakage" and offered to come to my premise to investigate. (Probably where my landscape company cut/spliced the cable!) I scheduled the time for them to investigate/repair.

- Fairborn customer replies to Fairborn customerI was mistaken. I called Spectrum about a friend's service.....and the Spectrum worker on the phone was very helpful. I had mentioned about this text message in question here, and she told me it was legitimate and how they are really strong on proactive maintenance. I called at 10 p.m. on a Friday night and we set up for the following morning at 8 a.m.. The Spectrum worker arrived in his Spectrum van at exactly 8 a.m. and did his work. It is legitimate.
- Bill in Sanford NCThis is a legit call. I called Spectrum from a number on their web site (not the 833 . . . number). I was switched over to service / maintenance. Was told this was a legitimate automated call. There are signal strength issues in my area and Spectrum is scheduling technicians to test main lines and service cable lines to the house. Not a scam, not a sales. However, poorly executed robot call - does indeed sound somewhat unprofessional. But it is legit.
- Caller: Spectrum
- Call type: Valid
- Sharon replies to IreneI signed onto my Spectrum Account and they said there was no issue with my account. They gave me a number for the Fraud department and I called it but the woman wanted my name address and security code. Wonder if someone is spoofing their number. I hung up on her. Not the same number for their supposed fraud department that is texting me.
- DM in CALike everyone else I'm getting texts claiming to be Spectrum about a "no cost" service appointment and to call (833)778-2754. As always if a text says "no cost" you know it's a scam. Did not call the number.
- Caller: Scam claiming to be Spectrum
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Brooke| 1 replyI received a text from 87598 (where I have previously received verification codes) and called the number and scheduled the appointment. The appointment immediately shows up in my Spectrum account, so it is valid.

Classic Shill mistake. If a person knows a call is legit, they do not come looking info about the call on a site dedicated to busting scams.
To Future Readers and Posters: Be VERY careful about calls from this number and claims made by the callers. You can hang up and call Spectrum on a number you know is good and ask if they have been trying to reach you. These callers are likely to be spoofing numbers and names that show in your caller ID.
As you can see from other posts here, a few different scams are being run from this number, some are payment scams, some seem to be "verification of your account scams." There are also "service upgrade" phishing scams.
The posts started in March. Not a single report earlier than 3/18/22. What are the odds of that? - PaulI called Spectrum at the number that is on my monthly bill, and they said the text is from them and I needed to call the number in the text to schedule service, so I did. It is a legitimate Spectrum number and text from them. Dont be afraid to call it.

- TimI got this same text and phone call with message. I called the number on the voice mail and spoke with a representative. They set an appointment. I called spectrum with number I always call and they confirmed that the call was legit and they also saw where the appointment was scheduled
- Caller: Spectrum
- MPAfter I received text about making an appointment (texts came from that source before) I contacted a different number I had for Spectrum, spoke with Management and was told that I needed "proactive maintenance" due to some signal issues, etc. My conclusion: Not a scam but the motive is still suspicious. If you have no problems there is no need to call the number.
