- Liz replies to JohnSame here. This is the second time I’ve gotten a Text from “Spectrum” about a supposed service problem. I only use their internet service and it is working just fine. Some kind of shady stuff I’m sure. Deleted again.
- Amanda| 1 replyJust got the same text as the rest of you. Thank you for this info. Thought it was suspicious so I decided to google the number and found this thread. Thanks to people like you guys, this number is now blocked.
- MarkI contacted Spectrum via webchat and they were able to verify that this is a legitimate Spectrum number.
- Caller: Spectrum
- Call type: Text message
- Ellen replies to AmandaI got the same message as everyone else. At first I was just going to ignore but I thought what if there was a problem. I was about to call the number on my spectrum bill but the thought came to me to Google the number and I saw all of the previous comments. Not being very tec savvy myself, I appreciate all of the comments.
- jimtext from, call and message same as the rest
not calling either, it's all working- Caller: said spectrum, caller id spam risk
- dawn replies to John| 1 replyi received an email twice - same exact message. no problems with service - we have internet and TV. when i contacted spectrum they said it was legit and a technician could be there in 45 minutes! 45 minutes for a service that's working when it takes days/weeks for a technician when it's not working??? no thanks.
- dawn replies to dawnnow i get an email confirming my appointment of them arriving now in less than 45 minutes -- an appointment i told them i didn't want. and when i log into my account (not going thru their link) there is no appointment to cancel. note, that i had an online chat with a spectrum agent while logged into my account (not going thru any email link - i was talking to legit spectrum agent).
- Courtney S replies to JohnI got this same text, twice now. Once on march 18th and then another today (march 26th). Both say “ Spectrum: As a reminder, an issue is affecting your services. Call (833) 778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost.” but when I check my spectrum app there is no report of any service issues. I will say my internet keeps going down and coming back but I don’t trust this text.
- JBReceived a text from this number saying that Spectrum detected an issue and to call and schedule service. No way Spectrum is this proactive. I’m sure it is NOT legit. Always question unsolicited texts and emails.
- Caller: 87598 (833-778-2754)
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- NAI've been getting this same message and numbers for a couple of days now – the most recent text has added the following new twist: [quote] "Here's your Spectrum verification code: 223020. This code will expire in 15 minutes." [unquote] WTF??? The first time I'd received this text I thought it might have had some legitimacy, because I was having some video streaming issues, but soon enough realized that it was a web browser issue, so I ignored the message; after the second time receiving the same "detected issue" text allegedly from "Spectrum," I decided to conduct a search of that full quote and was led here! GOOD CATCH, GUYS & GALS! (Although I'm somewhat tempted to have scambaiter "Pleasant Green" look into it on our behalf.) 😋
- Caller: "Spectrum" (allegedly)
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Vice65| 1 replyReceived text as did the others. The text messages have all arrived after normal business hours or on the weekends. Apparently Spectrum has had a data breach and at least some customer info has been compromised.
- Call type: Text message
- MLS replies to JohnGot same this morning.
- SheilaReceived the exact text message reported by others Re detecting problem with service and calling this number for free service check. As usual I looked up spectrum customer service phone numbers and, not finding this one, googled the texted number. Thanks for the postings! Confirmed my suspicions.

- LukeFYI, since all the comments are reporting this as spam I wanted to indicate that it is in fact not spam. I have verified through the regular Spectrum phone number listed on the Spectrum website. This is a proactive communication to diagnose signal issues detected.
- Caller: Spectrum
- Call type: Valid
- John| 1 replyI thought the text asking me to call 833-778-2754 was legitimate because I received texts from Spectrum on that same feed previously regarding a verification code, service outage restoration, etc. I called the number, they answered "Spectrum", I set up an appointment, and no one showed up.

- Karen courtSo I just called spectrum and they said it’s a new thing they have where they can detect internet wattage under 100 that might be causing service to be slow or to high etc. they said it’s 100% legit . They are a new department. It notifies this department when someone’s modem or wattage isn’t right so they come out right away to fix it . I was freaked out too cause they called then sent the message so I called back and after I was like “I f$+*ed up im about to get kidnapped” lol so I called the spectrum number I have in my phone ! Everyone needs to call them back ! Its perfectly safe and legit !

- Sid replies to JohnI called Spectrum after receiving an email and a text and it is a legitimate call and text . It is to upgrade the fiber optics coming into the house as a proactive measure from Spectrum. If you call Spectrum customer service they will verify that your account has been flagged that you're having intermittent issues with either your phone internet or TV and we'll make an appointment for them to check your lines outside of the house as well as inside of the house. Hope this helps others they state that the message is on their website as well as in billing information about the upgrades
- John replies to JohnTo correct my post above, Spectrum showed up later than expected and replaced the line from the house to the Spectrum feed in 22-degree weather (weather probably accounted for their delayed arrival). I had gotten a call saying they would be late, but they came later than the revised time. When they finished replacing the line, the techs said squirrels had chewed on my line which probably triggered the alert. They also came inside and improved my setup. This is not a scam. I appreciate Spectrum's proactive repair of my service.
- It’s legit replies to JohnIt’s legit from spectrum. I verified but feel free to call spectrum direct and confirm.
