I received a text from 87598 at 3:36 pm est today.    “Spectrum: We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you.”  I didn’t repond.

I have received this message 4 times already on my mobile phone in the last 5 weeks. Same message every time.

I do NOT ever respond to ANY texts or emails anymore like this or other scammers that appear to have a red flag all over it. SPECTRUM was contacted and stated that did not come from Spectrum.

I received a text from 87598 Spectrum - stating they have detected an issue affecting my service.  I almost trusted this and was going to call the 833 number until I read these posts.  This is the same number I've been contacted by actual Spectrum before when they were making a real, scheduled by me service call

Same scam text. I don’t have Spectrum.

Got this text last week and called. It’s really Spectrum, the guy came to check everything out and said it’s a new service they’re offering and lot of people have actually been really confused about it. We told him we thought we got scammed while waiting for him to show up when I stumbled upon this site lol

Received text from 833-778-2754, concerning issues in my area /Spectrum. Called same # on my cell, got a spam alert; hung up.
Looked up and called the Spectrum Business phone number for my area. Talked to them. They advised the text and number were legit.
Called the #-2754; yes, they ask me to confirm my address, which I did. Made an appointment for the next day. Two Spectrum trucks arrived, personnel in yellow "Spectrum" work vests. I ask why two trucks; Answer: second truck and Serviceman was in-training. They metered the pedestal to house cable, replaced a connector in the house box. They then metered the modem; said all was OK. Said they were doing a lot if "issues" work now. Courteous & professional.

Yes it is Spectrum as I was looking at my modems status page, I was having problems with my modem, my internet speed was fine no problems I noticed in internet speed. I went to my Spectrum account and checked my internet it detected a connection issue. I called the number, it was Spectrum they knew my phone matched my account. They knew who I was. The automated AI  asked if I wanted a return call, it would be about 3 minutes, the return call was from 855 707-7328. She knew I was having connection issues, she was going to reset my modem from her end. My modem rebooted, the lights went out, blinked one by one until all 3 were lit. To be fair, I checked my modem for a connection issue, it is still there, just not as bad. I suspect I have a frayed cable wire leading into my house. If people are telling you it's a scam, try calling the number and judge for yourself, it is only a call you can hang up anytime, they already have your number since they texted you. I am waiting for an idiot to question me as a "scammer" since they themselves did not call this number. You know who you are. Some just love the attention, disregarding the facts.

Got the text saying Spectrum internet service was slow and they wanted to send someone out to check it during the day.

This is the purpose of the scam. They will ask you over the phone if you work from home. They want to know which homes are empty during the day so they can rob them.

It is totally legitimate. Spectrum is doing proactive servicing and you can verify it by calling spectrum back and asking them. I booked my appointment with the phone  number in the text which is Spectrum, and then confirmed on both my spectrum app and by phoning back spectrum on the main number.

Just received the same thing. When I googled the number, it brought me to this website. Blocked the number.

FYI - I called the Spectrum number listed on my bill to ask about the text (We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you.).  They checked their records and showed that the text was indeed from Spectrum.  Hope this helps.  When in doubt, I always call the company in question at the phone number listed on your bill!!

Received a text from 87598 asking to call this number. I have received other Spectrum texts from this number in the past, they are legitimate. I called my normal Spectrum number to be safe and tech support confirmed they are being proactive with some sort of work right now and the 833 number IS correct and belongs to them.

I actually received an e-mail with the exact wording as mentioned above. I checked my account and I have no messages from Spectrum and this number is not listed as one of their contact numbers.

Same as most here. I just got it today. Supposedly a issue affecting my services to call for appointment. To call 833-778-2754 for a no cost appointment. Found it suspicious especially that my services are working fine. I entered number into Google and found this site. It most likely is a scam. So many folks getting scammed.

I received a text about a problem with my service. I called and set up appointment for today. No one showed up. Concurrently, I got a notation on both of my iPhones that I wasn’t connected. I reset modem and router. 3 times it worked for a minute then shut down. I called Spectrum on their main number. The cust.svs Rep confirmed problems with my connection as well as the appointment I had made by calling the number on the text. He said Spectrum is being proactive. I have a 2nd appt this Saturday. I doubt this is a scam. If it is, I’m dumb as a box of rocks.

If you called Spectrum @ their main # & the rep confirmed the problems, why didn't the tech show up for the appointment you scheduled for today?
