This is legit as confirmed with Spectrum technical support,  call the number from the myspectrum app or the number from your bill and technical support will confirm its legitimacy

Unexpected text from “Spectrum”, too. Same details: 87598 msg #, same claim “We’ve detected an issue affecting your service. Please call (#) today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you.”

Received an email from myaccount@spectrumemails.com containing the correct last 4 digits of my account number and correct name and service address. Also contained the text "During routine network maintenance, we detected an issue affecting your services, which our technician can resolve at no cost to you. Give us a call, and a Spectrum representative will set up a service visit in just minutes." The reply number was 833-778-2754. I did not respond to the email but did open up my browser and logged into my account using normal methods to confirm by Chat that there were no service issues. IMHO this scam is a Spectrum division with access to customer cable records either trying to bundle cell service, alarm or home automation.

I have received two text messages a week apart also.  If I had an issue with our service, I would be the one contacting spectrum, not them contacting me.

I was skeptical at first but the text message came from a previous message from Spectrum to reset my password.  I did call the number and scheduled a technician to check the cable lines.  Afterword, I called Spectrum toll free line directly and they confirmed the appointment.  It looks like a scam but it is Spectrum making their routine maintenance in the area.

Am attorney who handles consumer protection cases. Just received the same text message and phone number. There are plenty of scams using the IDs of reputable businesses. Before responding to a text message like this, just call Spectrum and check. First, yes Spectrum does ask for your service address when you call them.  They always have, in my experience.

Second, I called Spectrum (the regular CS number, not the one from the text & email that I got), and they said that yes, I do in fact have a service issue that they would like to improve.  Sure, this could just be a coincidence, but seems like a an awful long-shot coincidence if it is!  So odds are it was legit.  Either way, I would suggest doing what I did - just call the regular Spectrum CS number that you have on your bill and ask them!

And Third, you should ALWAYS do this with EVERY notification that you get from ANY company.  Just call the main CS number that you already have on the bill.  No matter what.  Then it doesn't matter if you get scam texts/calls/emails or not, you'll never be at risk, and there'd be no need whatsoever for threads like this!!  :)

Not a scam, although I thought so at first. I received an email from Spectrum: "Service Appointment Required. We discovered a service issue affecting your area. Call (833) 778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost." A few days later I was having slow internet and called the regular Spectrum help number and after they were not able to fix the issue the tech gave me the same number to call and schedule an appointment. I called and set up an appointment. It was the same set of questions to confirm your address that they always ask when you call with an issue.

And just to note, I never received a text about it, just the email.

    Hope this helps someone else.

I also got the text two weeks apart. So I called the number this morning and it’s disconnected according to Verizon. Hopefully that will stop it.

Text msg to my cellphone, with the same invitation to call and schedule an appointment.  Spectrum says it wasn't them.  God only knows what happens if they show up and you let them in the door.

Just received the same message saying it was Spectrum about an issue with my service. Didn't pass the smell test so I googled the number and found agreement that it's a scam.

Got the text to call 833-778-2754. Called Spectrum Customer Service (not the # in text) was placed on hold the disconnected and they called back. They told me to call the number to find out. Uh, No! They always verify the phone # for the account. No one who said they called said they verified the account phone#.

I too received this text and was suspicious.  So, I called Spectrum customer support (not the number in the text) and confirmed it was legit. In my case, it was a pro-active trouble call, in that they had detected an outbound signal (sorry, not techie enough to describe it better) that wasn't strong enough.  Went ahead and scheduled the on-site service for later the same day.  Tech arrived on time and performed the needed testing/repairs

I received the same text message and a phone call from the 833 number. I called them and someone said spectrum and then proceeded to tell me that they need to make an appointment and come to inspect the lines coming to my house and that they need to make the appointment when I'm home so they can access the house. I turned around and called Spectrums customer service number and they said it is a legit call. That during routine maintenance they find issues and they try to stay ahead of them proactively instead of reacting it to them. When I told the customer service rep that there was nothing wrong with my internet service and that everything was working fine, they told me it may be working fine today and be completely out tomorrow. I wanted to respond, so what else is new? I did not make an appointment and I told them that I would think about it. I talked with a friend of mine today who works in IT and he said if I'm not having any issues, just ignore the calls. I don't want some technician rambling around my house inside or outside if there's nothing wrong with my service. So I'm just going to ignore it. But anyway, the customer service representative at Spectrum's main number said it is indeed legitimate. Just to make sure, I called twice and both reps told me it was legit.
