http://thomaskingassociates.com/  That's the website. They are a debt collector, but no need to worry if it's not you they're looking for. In my case they were looking for someone else. I believe these calls are tied to phone numbers. I changed my phone number to an IP phone and apparently someone had that number before me. When I called Thomas King & Assoc the person I spoke with didn't ask for my name. I assume she could see that I was calling from my home phone (the phone number in question). She said they were asking for a woman named Rosemary "xxxxxxxxx" and I told her that I don't know the person. She said no problem and she would remove my number from her list. We shall see.

All I'm saying is if you know it's not "you" they're looking for, give them a call so you can have your number removed from their list. You can ignore their calls, but they'll probably keep robocalling if you don't.

I too received a call this morning, came in from a CT number, and I am in CT. The call back number was this 855 number, however. Did not leave a business name, but said that they were doing an asset and liability search and "my number has come up." How ominous... Threatened that if I did not return the call, I would be documented as uncooperative. Search of the CT number did not link to any businesses.

I didn't answer the originating call from 713-352-6508. Went to Google Voice with excellent transcript I am keeping, which reads perfectly like all those shown on this site, same threat to call 855-396-2263. DON'T CALL EITHER OF THESE NUMBERS!!!

Jusy got the same call - asking for a niece!  Looked up Thomas, King & Associates - they are a debt collector.  In our case, I think they're trying to find her by calling all people with same last name, hoping to hit paydirt!  Don't volunteer anything either cause the next step is to try to get YOU to pay the debt (happened to us too)

I did a little research on the number and the 855 number belongs to a collection company based in Amherst NY called Thomas King and associates.
The other number belonged to some woman in Barry

I have been getting calls from this number for over a month and have just been ignoring them. But then they started calling my mother and sister asking for me, even though they told him I was not at that number, but would pass the message on to me. On 7/7/14 a person named Wayne Russell of Credit Control and gave a reference number. He wanted my number but she did not give it. Then on  8/13/14 they called my mother again saying that this was Jose regarding a county (gave mine) court matter and wanted my number. She said she would give me a message. Calls from both people came from this same 855 number. Both times they left me voicemail messages for me that I did not really pay attention to. However, they called her again today (8/18/14). Again from Jose with the same spiel but adding that it was regarding my Wells Fargo Credit Card owing $5000. This time I listened to my message that said just my first name and social security ending xxx. "You are being pursued for breach and fraud of inducement of a contract in the county (none specified). I need to hear from you or your attorney that is representing you at (gives same number that comes up on the caller ID)." He then states my first and last name with "You have been officially notified. Good luck."

What the heck is "breach and fraud of inducement of a contract"? Sounds like a threat to me. I am wondering how they got the last 4 digits of my SSN? Wells Fargo was correct, but the amount he gave was wrong. The real collection agency (Security Credit Services, LLC) last contacted me in January this year by mail and has not been calling me. Knew then that this is a scam.

I did not call back but will be filing a complaint with the State Attorney General in Indiana (where I live) and will be blocking the number and telling my mom and sister to do the same.

I received calls every day so far from 8/1/14 through 8/18/14.  The automated message states that my name has come up in an "Assets and Liability Search" and continues to tell me to call 855-396-2263 and they state that if the call is not returned it will be documented as "uncooperative".  I don't have any outstanding debts and am sure this is a scam.  I logged into my service provider and had the number blocked.  these people are insane.  

Had the same thing happen with this company but they called from a different number.  Recording said, "if you do not respond within 24 hours we will take this as an acknowledgement that you owe this debt...."  So I took the recording to a lawyer.  Paid him $200.00 to listen to it and send a letter.  He laughed when he heard it.  Said, no one can create a one sided contract in which silence represents a response.  I have a very common first and last name so I get 5 or 6 debt collection calls a year for people I don't know.  About three weeks ago I got one for a person with the same name and they had an outstanding debt for a "Marathon Gas Card."  Seems this guy owed about $180.00.  I asked how they decided this was me since this gas card was issued in Washington DC and I live in California.  This idiot on the phone said, "maybe you drove to California.."  I said, wow, that would be quite a trip since I'm 83 and suffered a stroke last year.  HA...gotcha.

I'vs seen some stupid debt scammers, but this tops all--creating debt out of thin air.  

Just got the same message on my voice mail. Called back and "Ms. Jones" asked me to hold on a moment. I held for a "moment" and hung up. Figured it's some kind of scam......why don't these people get real jobs!

you must work for this backwards agency , you seem to defend them often , stop your illegal pratices , you can get money without scamming its easy real agencies do it everyday and they manage to keep good BBB ratings and avoid Attorney General Complaints, perhaps your collectors need to be retrained in FDCPA ettiquette

This is a scam. Do not call them back. Read the August 17, 2014 New York Times Magazine article about debt sellers and debt buyers. I do not owe anyone a dime. My home number is new - started getting calls a few weeks ago. I do not respond. They'll get tired and go to someone else to try and scam.

I get calls every single day (twice today) from 206-801-6632 with a male voice saying my number came up in some stupid Assets and Liability search and if I don't call 855-396-2263 right away, I will be considered "non-compliant."

What idiot would do an asset and liability search?  What asset?  What liability?  

These people are illiterate and criminals.  

Yeah, I'm scared that I'm now "non-compliant."  

Got a call telling me to call this number on 09/12/14 concerning a very important investigation demanding my attention. It was from VIETNAM. Wtf is the deal?

So new scam. I got a call from a guy the other day looking for Ursula, who is my mother. I then told them i haven't spoke to her 2 years. he askEd why she would put me down as a contact. I was like "that's odd". He asked me if i could leave a message with a friend or family member for her. I said no, he got pissed and said it was about a civil suit And said "are you sure you don't talk to her?" I said nope and he hung up.. I wish i asked if he knew my name. He had a regular anerican accent. The next day i got a number from a 401 number witha recording sayin. "This message is being left as a courtesy. We are in the process of doing an asset and liability search and your number has come up in our records. Press ‘1’ now to speak to our pre-legal department or call today at 855-396-2263. Once again, call 855-396-2263. Failure to respond will be documented as being non-cooperative." so i called the 401 Number back and another guy with an american accent picked up. Thus was our conversation...
Man:Hello
Me: who is this? And why are you calling me saying i will be marked as uncooperative if i don't call back.
Man: Oh, you got the automate call. 1 moment please.
(He left the phone for 2 seconds and came back)
Man: we are looking for Ursula Sousa
Me: who are you?
Man: Thomas King Associates, are you Ursula?
Me: Nope.
Man: do you know Ursula?
Me:yup
Man: can you give her a message?
Me: Nope, i am not her secretary. Also, if you got my number, how come you don't have hers? Why did the guy yesterday tell me she had me down as a contact? Do you even know my name?
Man: silence for a minute. And answered "No, i don't know what your name is. And we got your number by putting in her social in our system and it cane up. I don't know why that guy told you that you were a contact.
Me: okay, so i was lied to about my name being a contact, threatened to be marked down as uncooperative as a scar tactic, even though you don't know my name. You supposedly have this womans social number but not her phone number or address....
Man: sorry miss, we will take your number off the list.

So i looked up the number and looked up, thomas king. It says its a privet investigator, but no address. I looked up the message and it is a guge scam. Do not give out any infor to some looking for someone. They also called my father looking for my mother. They have been divorced For 25 years and my mom re married! Me and my mom went on line and looked up her name. Relitives were listed and my dad was the first and i was second and for $2 you can get their numbers. If it is a lawyer or anything, they should know the persons number and info.
