- hottmama GarciaMy sis got the same call except they were looking for me they told her I had a lawsuit pending so I called back and they gave me a [***] answer that I wasn't in the system what's my number
- Caller: thomas king
- JustinThis is a scam, DO NOT under any circumstance give them any money. Not even $50 to hold the account out of court. This is all a trick to get you to give them an account number. You will get burned. File a BBB complaint against them, there are not enough on there. They have a F on the BBB website. This same company also did business as, Turning Point Resolutions and Zellar and Associates, I guess now Thomas King and Associates is their new name. Their supposed address is 210 John Glen Dr Suite 3; Amherst NY 14228. The BBB claims returned mail and business can not be contacted. They used a few numbers with me 855-396-2263/ 844-282-8566/ 617-874-4004/ 716-362-6419. Do yourself a favor like I did and call the Amherst PD and file a complaint. Maybe something will get done if enough people file a complaint on them. I have read other stories on here that people have actually paid them their debt only to get called back a year later for the same thing. It is not legit, give no information, request validation of debt. You will never receive it. Also if you get any feedback from whomever you speak to just tell them it is your right under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act, which is true. Best of luck.

- Me 2| 1 replyI received a call from this company from 612-254-8079. They left the same voice mail others have received:
"This message is being left as a courtesy. We are in the process of doing an asset and liability search and your number has come up in our records. Press one to speak to our pre-legal department or call today at 855-396-2263. Failure to respond will be documented as being non-cooperative.""
Obviously, these people are real scammers. If you want even further proof:
According to "WHOIS", the domain THOMASKINGASSOCIATES.COM was created May 23, 2014 - just a week or so before their calls were documented here.
And, according to the BBB, there is an alert placed on this business, as they have been documented as being non-cooperative - the business refuses to provide any proof of licensing - see http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... st-ny-235976824.
Given the above, it is best if you don't call back. If you do, though, note that the BBB, above, states that "There are penalties for agencies ... harassing a debtor, which includes threatening violence or legal action. They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name."
So - be sure you record them if you do call.- Caller: Thomas, King & Associates, LLC.

- jpipe replies to CGBI am in the State of Michigan and I received the same voicemail - a very intimidating male voice with the same speech (verbatim) you describe. Also shows as a local number (Grand Haven), but the message was to call back to the 855 number.
- Bipolargm2I have received both messages from this company every day. One about assets and about responding about debt owed. I will be calling my attorney to check this out.
- Caller: No name given

- anonymous| 1 replyI received the same phone call. anyone call back? if so, what did they say? should I be calling them back or is this a scam? I can't imagine where they would be calling from if it were legit.
- Caller: Did not say.
- CWG40 replies to anonymousDo not call them back. Your caller is most likely calling from something called Thomas King and Associates. This group has a long history of debt scamming on 800notes. They operated out of New York.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course, they won't send you a letter, so just block their calls.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. - CWG40This number appears to be being used by something called Thomas King and Associates. Long history of debt scamming on 800notes.
For example:
This group (or should I say gang) engages in a constant pattern of scummy and scammy debt collection tactics, so typical of the “Buffalo Bullies”.
1. Usually they cold-call you and tell you they are doing an “assets and Liability search”. Then, if you are uncooperative they say
2. they’ll put you down as such. They sometimes call and say
3. they have a “claim” against you.
4. They call and say this is your “last chance” to talk to them before they make some kind of decision.
5. Sometimes they want you to call their “pre-legal’ department. And of course they call and say
6. there is a “complaint” against you or your SSN#. Now how the devil can one get a complaint against one’s SSN#?
Right outta Amherst NY.
They call from a lot of different numbers.
They also associate with something called
JTM Capital Management LLC
They ID themselves as Thomas King and Associates. (Unable to locate any reference to this company in the New York State Secretary of States records)

! THERE IS AN ALERT ON THOMAS, KING & ASSOCIATES, LLC. !
BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies setting up businesses in the Upstate New York area over the past several years. In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with Federal Law, we are asking for specific information from all collection agencies operating in our service area. The requests includes the following:
:Federal Employee Identification Number-EIN
:Proof Of Licensing, bonding and or registration by the city, town in which your business is located.
:Proof of licensing required by any state in which you operate by mail or telephone or email.
This collection agency has not responded to our requests.
BBB advises consumers to be aware of their legal rights in regard to collections. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a statue enacted in 1978 which seeks to eliminate abusive and harassing behavior by any debt or collection agency. The act states specific practices and rules under which debt collectors must abide by. There are penalties for agencies found breaking these laws. Some of these laws state that a collection agency is forbidden to harass a debtor, which includes threatening violence or legal action. They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name. If a consumer believes a debt or collection agency has violated any of the FDCPA laws the BBB encourages them to file complaints with the BBB at bbb.org and Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov

On a scale of A+ to F- Caller: Informational post
- Brian S.Have gotten a call from this outfit every day for a while. Assets and liabilities...uncooperative, same as everyone else. I've called back several times and they are rude to the point of nasty, won't identify their company or tell me why they call me.
- Caller: something Associates
- YuvonkaKeep receiving threatening calls stating that if I don't respond to the Message regarding an asset liability assessment search in which my number came up, I would be noted as uncooperative and further action will ensue. The voice is monotone and no company is ever identified. They have been calling for weeks now 2-3 times a day. The number they call from is an Akron, Ohio number: 330.972.9182. The message always states this call is a "courtesy". Then asks me to return the call to: 855.396.2263.
- Caller: No name is ever given
- Not calling them backLeft this number on my work number but originally called my cell 3 hours early from 870-493-3701 - left message that my number had come up in an assets and liability search, ending with a vaguely threatening message that if the call wasn't returned, I would be "documented as uncooperative".
- Nina HoltonThey called my son's phone and left a message for me to call. I have had the same number for 15 years. why didn't they call me?
- Caller: Thomas King and Associates
- Ken FrazierCalled from local number saying name had come up in an asset and liability search - to call 855-396-2263.- google shows Thomas king and assoc debt collectors
- Caller: thomas king and assoc (I assume)
- Call type: Debt collector
- Robert AlfanoThis is an annoying message that I've been receiving everyday. I will not return the call, but I want this to stop, what can be done?
- Me 2I received a phone call from them again today - except they used the telephone number of: 225-240-7573 (an LA #).
They changed their story - this time they said:
"You can accept this message as your official notification. We have made several attempts to reach you to get a statement regarding your claim. Understand that this might be your last chance to have input on our decision. If you would like to exercise this option, please press 1 now, or call today at 855-396-2263."
Read all of the above admonishments - and don't talk to these spammers!- Caller: Thomas King & Associates
- Call type: Debt collector
- Just WonderingHas anyone ever called them back using a call spoofing service? I could think of about a dozen ways to have a little fun doing that.
Whenever I see a number come up on caller ID that I do not know I simply ignore it, always have. It's been my experience that a scammer, salesperson or whatever other undesirable calls from whatever number will not call back repeatedly like a friend or family member often does. Sometimes the undesirable callers will leave a voice mail which allows to quickly rule out friends, family or a business contact.
The whole process of letting a call go to voice mail then listening to the voice mail and returning the call if need be, takes a minute or two. I seriously doubt returning even the most important call a minute or two later will result in anything catastrophic, or detrimental. I know there are probably some salespeople who this method would not work for but the great majority of people could easily do this.
I have found this to be very effective as opposed to do not call lists, requests to be removed from the list and other like "remedies". My home phone answering machine is set to pick up the 4th ring which quickly dispatches the call to voice mail. Cellphones are even better because you can look at the number press a button and right to voice mail.
Ask yourself how many times in the last 3 yrs. have you received a call from a strange number that turned out to be someone you actually wanted or needed to talk to? I know folks who are obsessed with finding out who every caller is and rarely let any call go unanswered. The sad reality of today's world is that it's safer to assume every unknown caller is a scam or sales pitch. Technology always seems to be in there favor, funny how that works..
Outside of resources like this website and some others we are faced with very little if any recourse.
The more people are willing to vet there calls using voice mail the less likely these type of businesses would be profitable. Even folks who aware of various phone scams have been dupped by newer and more clever scams.- Caller: Thomas King Assoc.
- unhappy replies to EllenI got the same message when they called. I called back and got an answering machine. I left a message stating that I would be giving that number to my local police department. Sure enough they called back the next day.I left another message stating that they are harassing me and to not call again.
