Asset and Liability Search, same as the other posts here. Caller ID showed a local number of a plumber in San Deigo. Total Scam...

I received a lot of calls from this number.  Same automated message states that my name has come up in an "Assets and Liability Search" and continues on giving me instructions to call 855-396-2263.  The end of the call states that if the call is not returned it will be documented as "uncooperative"

I received 12 calls this weeks requesting I call them at (855) 396-2263 since I appeared in an "Assets & Liability Search."  The number the call came from is from the District of Columbia (202) 715-6696. I reside in Palos Hills, IL (Chicago Metro).

rec'd call from these unpleasant pukes too, but they want games to began ,go head make my day ! cause I never answered & they never see me coming.

I have received these calls daily for over a week.  I have reported them to the FCC and suggest anyone being harassed by this company, do the same.  I am on a no call list but these people have chosen to ignore that.  http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

I had been receiving calls from this number on both my work number and cell number.  I finally decided to call back and the woman asked what number did they call me on.  I told them and they said they couldn't find me under that number and to disregard.  They keep threatening me telling me this is their final attempt.  One time they said they sent me paper work but I never received it.

I have received a call from the number everyday for a week now sometimes twice in one day.  Same message everyone else says they are getting.  I called the 855-396-2263 number they leave asking you to call them.  No one answers it, but you can leave a message.  I told them this is their one and only warning that they are harassing me and if they cannot call and speak to me instead of leaving these stupid recordings then I will sue them for harassment.  I have blocked the local number so they will need to come at me from a different direction.  I also told them I work for a law firm, so if they think I don't mean it when I say I will sue them, then bring it!

I got the same exact call today.

Please people, be aware of this scam!!!!!  I, too, received a call from this number, with the same EXACT voicemail that everyone else is saying they received.  The 1st thing I did was research the company, Thomas King & Associates.  They are not accredited by the better business bureau.  However, if you read through the BBB website, a business does not have to be accredited.  So, I read further on the Thomas King & Associates on their site.  Their is a BOLD RED ALERT under the BBB site with the name of Thomas King & Associates at the address they have listed!  So, PLEASE, read this alert before you do anything crazy, such as give your information to an unknown person.  Common sense would be to not give it out in the 1st place.

BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies setting up businesses in the Upstate New York area over the past several years.  In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with Federal Law,  we are asking for specific information from all collection agencies operating in our service area.  The requests includes the following:

:Federal Employee Identification Number-EIN
:Proof Of Licensing, bonding and or registration by the city, town in which your business is located.
:Proof of licensing required by any state in which you operate by mail or telephone or email.

This collection agency has not responded to our requests.

BBB advises consumers to be aware of their legal rights in regard to collections.  The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a statue enacted in 1978 which seeks to eliminate abusive and harassing behavior by any debt or collection agency.  The act states specific practices and rules under which debt collectors must abide by.  There are penalties for agencies found breaking these laws.  Some of these laws state that a collection agency is forbidden to harass a debtor, which includes threatening violence or legal action.  They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name.  If a consumer believes a debt or collection agency has violated any of the FDCPA laws the BBB encourages them to file complaints with the BBB at bbb.org and Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov

This group (or should I say gang)  engages in a constant pattern of scummy and scammy debt collection tactics, so typical of the “Buffalo Bullies”.
1.     Usually they cold-call you and tell you they are doing an “assets and Liability search”.   Then, if you are uncooperative they say
2.    they’ll put you down as such.   They sometimes call and say
3.    they have a “claim” against you.
4.    They call and say this is your “last chance” to talk to them before they make some kind of decision.
5.    Sometimes they want you to call their  “pre-legal’ department.  And of course they call and say
6.    there is a “complaint” against you or your SSN#.  Now how the devil can one get a complaint against one’s SSN#?    Right outta Amherst NY.

They call from a lot of different numbers.

They also associate with something called
JTM Capital Management LLC

They ID themselves as Thomas King and Associates. (Unable to locate any reference to this company in the New York State Secretary of States records)

I got the same exact message left on my cell today

same # I got let on my voice mail today and said if call not returned would be deemed uncooperative

called as part of an assets and liability search. Pressing 1 always goes to a busy signal. Calling the number they leave 855-396-2263 brought me to a woman in the middle of a football field of other telemarketers. Told them to please remove my number from whatever list they were using. Said they were looking for Virginia, were there any Virginia's there. Told her none at this number. She said they'd remove the number.

In New Hampshire.  Got the same call. Dialed and got Tomas King and Associates.  Warned the girls in the office not to speak with anyone.

This phone number keeps calling me but doesn't say who it is from 208-366-1911

Get a good Debt Collection lawyer and sue them, failing to identify themselves as a debt Collector is a violation and so it robo dialing a mobile phone.

“This is an assets and liability search and your number has come up in our records please call us back at 855-396-2263, failure to respond will be documented as being non cooperative”

This is the exact message that I received on my voicemail today. I didn't call the person back and find it interesting that others received this call as well.

Is this a debt collector? Is this a scam?

I received the same message & I'm in Michigan. I tried calling back the local number used & it goes to music. Doesn't even indicate that it's a voice mail.

I just filed a complaint with the BBB in Michigan. Thanks for the suggestion!

Got a letter in the mail and they had the toll free number 855-396-2263 said they were Thomas King and Associates out of Amherst New, York.  But there was not a regular number for the business.  Letter Is fake.  Before this letter I got a call from a guy stating he was with Thomas King and Associates.  He had a local number and it was coming from a TEK business which is showing downtown on the sattelite map, the number was 502-565-1202.  This 855-396-2263 is showing on the sattelite in Independence Ks. business known as Prindiville Prestidge LTD, 5 New Street Square, London EC4A3TW, United Kingdom.Prindiville Co. UK 020-7624-2911, +44 20 7624 2911.These people can get your number and use it to call anyone in the US for harassment, debt collectors. swatting, spoofing, vishing, phishing, hacking, and web spidering.  Just check the internet under these terms and you will find out what I found out.
