- GARBO1Received call from "Localized" number. I guess they feel you're more likely to answer vs some "Unknown" or "Toll Free" number.
The 36 second message that was left on my phone:
"This message is being left as a courtesy. We are in the process of doing an asset and liability search and your number has come up in our records. Press 1 now to speak to our free legal department or call today at 855-396-2263 once again that was 855-396-2263. Failure to respond will be documented as being non-cooperative".
From all responses read---this is a "scam" or "debt collector". No company name given and "wow"--it won't be the 1st or last time I've been accused of being "non-cooperative".- Caller: NO COMPANY NAME LEFT
- EI keep getting the same calls from these scammers.
Called back and they told me that I didn't pay back a payday loan, by the way i never applied for a payday loan in my life!
They asked me to have my attorney call them so I gave them the number for th MA Attorny General Office. - jb
Keep getting calls from this company. They are looking for a family member and will not stop calling. I do not know, nor do I care if the person they are looking for owes any debt. They have not mailed any proof of debt, as required by law. ( https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection ) I'm so frustrated. I have done some research on the company, here is what I've found so far:
Other companies/numbers connected with:
855-624-9665 Esser, James and Associates, L.L.C http://esserjames.com/
844-282-8566
855-396-2263 Thomas King & Associates http://thomaskingassociates.com
JTM Capital Management, LLC http://jtmcm.com
I'm pretty sure they are also connected to:
716-242-7588 Robert James & Associates (shut down for illegal processes)
Long story short, this is definitely a scam operation. They may have some legal debt they are pursuing, but they also have a lot of fake debt, inaccurate debt. They may be calling some people that actually owe money, but they are calling immense amounts of people that have nothing to do with any debt. They complaints for these companies are immense. Look at the BBB records just to see a small amount of the complaints.
Bottome line: This is a shod. A scam. A fake. Do not listen to the lies. Do not make any payments to them.
Problems? Here are just a few:
False claims - they are not a law firm but are claiming to be. This is just a shady debt collection company.
Claim to have authority to go after debt they are not actually hired to collect.
Calling wrong numbers, will not stop calling even when warned this is an illegal activity.
Inaccurate information, not fact checking and not fixing when given new information.
Not mailing proof of debt as required by law.
Unprofessional and untrained in debt collection.
This company used to be called Robert James & Associates and was shut down for illegal activities.
And just in case you met it, the Bottom line again: DO NOT GIVE A CENT TO THESE CON ARTISTS!! Ignore if they try to steal from you. They will not sue you, they cannot throw you in prison. Everything they say is a lie. Laugh at them and hang up! If you actually do owe some debt, call the company you owe it to directly and check with them on how to properly pay/settle your debt.
Please file a complaint to shut them down faster: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors- Caller: various. see list.

- Resident47 replies to Not FooledGunnar has all of one post in this whole thread, the one you have so confused with cheerleading for a lawbreaker. If he's a friend to collection agents, I'm the new Lord of the Dance. To underline that absurdity, I will confess that a drunken cripple can out-dance me from a rusty wheelchair on a BMX racing course.
Maybe CGB had an innocent reason for trawling the thread for commentor locales, but revealing only a home state could be an admission against the interests of people accused of owing a debt. - California GoldI got SAME thing, local 619 number, I'm in San Diego, CA...told me to call the 855 number, this crap happens everytime I order something on line, exactly from "As Seen On TV" .com!! EVerytime folks...think about it...did you put your number on line? I think the site sells our numbers!!

- Teresa replies to CGBLocal call from virginia. Asking to Rey to the 855 number or else will be considered "uncooperative. Very rude. And abrupt scammer.
- kf replies to Ellengot this call on my work phone very vague voice mail message when I called back
- Non-compliantAsset and liability recovery. States that my "phone number had come up" and to not respond would be considered 'non-compliant'. Well..I don't owe anybody any THING..so this alone makes me question the validity of this caller. I'm just going to block them and take my chances. If a suit shows up at me door with a summons, THEN I'll take it seriosly and just tell the judge that I considered it a scam tactic and that it was all over the internet as thus. I'm also going to report them. Everybody else should tool

- Robert Krivanekthey keep calling about assets/libility
- sjpReceived 1 phone call requesting for a debt I don't believe I agreed upon. I requested a copy of the original signed agreement.. I was told they would send the requested document.
What I received was a letter requesting payment of the debt. To this day, I have NEVER received a copy of the alleged contracted agreement.
I called them back and the lady who answered my call didn't want to hear what I had to say and hung the phone up on me!
Truly an unprofessional and clearly questionable company- Call type: Debt collector

If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
Also report them here: http://www.ag.ny.gov/debt-settlement/debt-collection-companies
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. - dripping brainsCalled the 855 number via my Google voice number-answered as the Law Firm mentioned. I said: "Your automated dialer called xxx-xxx-xxxx. They replied: "nnnnn"? I said-You have the wrong number. They immediately hung up.
I strongly recommend the folks get a Google Voice number and a ObiHai voice adapter for just these situations.- Call type: Debt collector
- npatton replies to EllenI just got a message today on my answering machine that was exactly like yours. I live in Illinois
