- DJSame as many of the above. Jacob Reed @ Longwood Inc. 501c3 co. I listed on Craig's List 3-12-09. I have no intention of returning the call, especially after reading the other postings
- Caller: Longwood Inc.
- David replies to Jeff| 56 repliesUnfortunately "Jacob Reed" is also looking at Autotrader.com. My car has been listed for listed for less than 24 hours and have already received a call from "Jacob". He claims he is with Longwood Inc, a 501.3c organization that matches potential car buyers with sellers.
- TG replies to GaryGary, Did you have your car listed privately? Whether it be in newspaper or on a site? Does "Longwood Inc" take any of your personal info? Would you recommend a repeat sell through Longwood. Please reply. T.G. lost in my local classifieds with Jacob calling me!!
- PJ replies to Gary| 1 replyHey Gary,
Are you working for Longwood, Inc.??? Are you the one that said they sold a vehicle for you? When? Did you have any problems with them what so ever? Why is a company that works with non-profit companies trying to match buyers and sellers of vehicles? In our case Jacob is messing up as our listing is a project car, nothing running. - PJJacob from Longwood, Inc. phone number 866-326-0950 called us and left a message on our answering machine. We don't have caller ID, but he gave that number for us to return his call. We have a truck on Craig's list but he doesn't mention it, just that "he see's that we're trying to sell our vehicle and they have a few people who might be interested in buying it". I immediately went online and typed in Longwood, Inc. 501(c)(3) and ended up here.
- j replies to LisaCall your state department of trade (or whatever it is called) and file a complaint against this piece of excrement. That is the only way to shut him down.
- renazantz replies to Gary| 1 replyhave you done business with them Gary? let's really hear what they have done if you trust them so much. or are you part of them?
- Sam W| 4 repliesSame deal here, came up Unavailable on my cell phone, Jacob from Longwood Inc, nonprofit. I called up and talked to a very nice lady who gave me their website, www.thebiglot.com and I asked why I would give $99 to someone who called me out of the blue. She said their information is very public, their About Us page and their Contact page has all their information listed. It says they've been around since 1999, which is confirmed by their BBB report (bbb.org), but their site only has a PO box, no physical address. I checked out their BBB report, which gave them a C- due to the number of complaints, (16 in the last 36 months), most of which were due to refund issues. I'll also point out, that the company itself is Adventis, Inc, and they apparently provide this service for Longwood, Inc. So they're not exactly the same, and I'm not sure on the connection there. I couldn't find any information about Longwood anywhere.
Conclusion: It sounds to me like they (Adventis) are a legitimate business, but maybe not doing things necessarily the right way. They certainly shouldn't be contacting people on Craigslist like myself who have opted out of being contacted by services, and they certainly shouldn't have that many complaints about refunds if they offer a refund. I'm skeptical to do business with them, but no one's responding to my Craigslist ad, so I will consider it in another week or so. That's my take.
People should stop being driven by fear and actually look into something before calling it an outright "scam". I'm not saying they're a good company necessarily, but they certainly have a website with plenty of buy/sell listings, and have been Incorporated since 1999.- Caller: Longwood Inc, Adventis

- MONKEY replies to Lisa| 2 repliesI got a call from Jacob Reed today saying he may know some people interested in my Harley. I did not call back. They just want money.
- Jamshaundas replies to JanI, too, have listed a car in the dallas morning ads to sell a vehicle. I got a call on my home number about the vehicle. "Jacob Reed" also left me a message stating that he had some potential buyers. I called the number back and "Linda" said that "Jacob" was talking to other customers. "Linda" then proceeded to tell me that there were many buyers interested in purchasing my car. She said that their company guarantee that we would get the full asking price of the vehicle for a one-time fee of $199. I do not like to give out any of my banking information unless I know for certain that the business is legit. I work in banking and am aware of all of the scamming that goes on. I have never heard of this company. Anyone?
- Big Maly replies to JanI am not selling my vehicle, but Jacob Reed called my cell phone from an unknown number tellinge me i am. He is works for a 501c3 company, Longwood Inc. Told me to call back at 866-326-0950. I posted an ad searching for car parts on craigslist but doesn't mean this knucklehead can call me, and I got this weird message.
- JRI received a call from "Jacob Reed" this morning, offering to match me with a buyer for a vehicle that I put up for sale on Cars.com.
Longwood's web presence looks a bit shady to me, so I started poking around. - Reality Check| 1 replyI received two messages from Jacob Reed both were prerecorded regarding a vehicle I'm selling on Craigs List. They claim to be a company that provides a service which connects individuals looking to buy a vehicle with those individuals selling them. Sounds great, even possible and definitely marketable. But make no mistake all they really want is your money up front! They probably do not have a buyer for your vehicle and really don't care whether your vehicle ever sells. I was targeted because I'm selling a vehicle the service they claim to provide in my opinion is misleading and just false. When Jacob or Toby calls simply call them back and request to be put on the no call list. One more thing these companies buy your number from a third party company that takes the numbers from advertisements like Craigs List.

- csJust got a call today from Jacob. I don't answer unknown name or number calls. He left a message about the car I put on KiiJii. Not going to call back.
- Caller: Longwood inc.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- jsWow this is crazy-i had posted my car on craigslist last week; and today got this message from Jacob Reed and I was going to call it later today just to see what he had to say. Happened to be online looking at other things just now and googled the longwood inc and it brought to these postings. Thank you all-the last thing we need is scammers taking our money.
- DroppedrodI also received this same call and did a little more digging. There is no "Longwood Incorporated" that is a 501(c)(3) listed with the IRS. There is a "Longwood Industries Inc." registered as a 501(c)(3) with the IRS. They have a website at http://www.longwoodautos.com/default.htm that feeds to thebiglot.com. The website states that they are "providing economic opportunities to disadvantaged and mentally handicapped individuals." However, as noted above, the phone number posted is different than that provided by "Jacob Reed" and when I called it I was not able to get through to an actual person.
It is entirely possible that, while Longwood Incorporated is a legitimate non-profit, "Jacob Reed" is not actually affiliated with them and that portion of the call is a scam. It is also possible that "Jacob Reed", "Longwood Inc.", "Longwood Incorporated", and the 866 number are all part of the same business that, while not an outright scam, conducts itself in a manner that does little to inspire confidence.
As an aside, it was autotrader.com that they used to get my number as I did not post it on Craigslist.- Caller: Lonogwood Industries
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- guy2Jacob Reed left a message saying he is with Longwood Inc. a 501 (c) company and he might have someone interested in my car for sale... found this,
