This a a messgae to alert EVERYONE of the unethical collection efforts by this "so called"  collection agency! When I arrived home on Friday (8/15) there was a note slippd under my apartment door with these messages attached to the note "Come See Me", You have a message and "Call me" George (866) 345-4590 and a Case #. As my apartment is a private entrance these people had the nerve to go and divulge my personal business to the rental office and had them do their dirty work (slip a message under my door; that is the only way that the management office would have agreed In my opinion this totally against the Fair Debt Practices Act and as such I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau

Funny, my replies have been removed from this site. That's okay because Keith and friends have more problems to worry about....Guess they didn't like what I had to say, but yet they have no problem letting my neighbors and everyone else know my personal business...Maybe next time they will at least check and make sure that the people they are calling actually didn't move right on Sweethome Rd conveniently right by their office. I'm watching you guys everyday. Maybe one day I can make the 700 dollar petty payment in person next time I see you in your Tahoe. Like the 700 dollars is going to make a difference in your life. All you have to do is practice a little more professionalism. My debt is way past the statute of limitations. As far as the comments, I will not divulge any more of you and your associates personal business. Just remember I know your every move. You can't find me, but I see all 3 of you everyday. So have fun playing golf going to strip clubs and all of that good stuff. Just remember it is people that you would call scumbags that have made you guys be able to buy Tahoes and have all of the nice things including your hot wife. Funny how you have gotten rich off people who have nothing. Well, maybe like I said tomorrow I will introduce myself and pay the debt even though it is so old. We will see how your ex-con employees act when I call in the morning.

Received a voice mail message from Law Office of Kingman and Cole the rep said here name was Kristi.  She said that this call was a "verbal" notification that she was going to file a lawsuit in civil court (county) and my courtdate would be sometime in September 2009.  She said that I need to contact her immediately to settle up.  I don't even know who the company she is representing and how much I am "suppose" to owe.
She sounded very convincing but I haven't contacted them.
    Any suggestions??

    To Bill Collector:

Just because there are some deadbeat debtors does not excuse the fraud and abusiveness of these collectors.  This outfit is going after me through members of my family over a debt by someone of a similar name.  The bank itself tells me this debt is not mine. An honest collector would not be abusing the family of an innocent man.  The payments the collectors get does not even go to the original creditor.

The banks cause a lot of the defaults by their own practices.  A freind of mine lost her job and the bank tripled her minimum payment.  Then added fees and penalties which tripled the amount she owed.  When she got her new job she contacted them and tried to get them to accept the amount of the original debt and consider it closed.  They refused and insisted she pay the debt and the excess fees, and continued adding fees and penalties as she tried to work with them.  She had no choice but to not pay and make them write it off.  Bank of America is one of the worst.

Banks are always among the top 3 influence buyers in Washington.  That's how they ended up getting laws that allow this unethical behavior.

    Get off your high horse.

    The Truth

The truth about poster "ec" AKA "ex collector".  He was fired for unethical practices & denied unemployment.  He's been blackballed from every agency so now he sits at home making random calls claiming to be from Kingman Cole. He is determined to make them pay by slandering their name in every state in the country. He went as far as to concoct the very same outrageous scams he posts here then contacts the media to try to get them to broadcast them. Obviously he's been successful in his own home town in Arkansas with the help of his family & friends.  He posts all kinds of links he came across while being investigated himself. Thats why he is so obsessed with boards like this. You will notice he posts here all day long. What rational person spends all their time doing that? Unfortunately he's hurting the people who owe the debts & find themselves being sued because they ignored the people trying to help them avoid that very thing.  All because they believe what they see being posted by a psycho like this. Ever wonder how he just happens to be the one to report every bit of news no matter where it starts.  Kind of like the arsonist who shows up at every fire.  Sad sad life.  You were told before "ec", you really should seek professional help.

Actually, it's no secret how I (or anyone else for that matter) can find breaking or archived news on just about any subject. It's called Google.  Just go there and simultaneously search the terms "kingman" "cole" "scam".

By the way, there's another shady debt collector agency in Utah who has posted messages here theorizing that I'm a disgruntled former collector in Utah.  And there's a notorious debt collection scammer in Florida who thinks I'm a disgruntled former employee of his criminal enterprise.  So we'll add your amusing theory to the mix.

Oh, one other thing. ABC News just did an investigative report on a particular debt collection scam that poses as law enforcement and lawyers, and targets consumers (many of whom owe nothing) with false and illegal threats.  ABC News is eager for more information on similar scams; do you know of any?

I had the very same issue with Mr. Kevin Kauffman last night.  He actually proceeded to call me a moron while belittling me at the same time.  I hung up on him 3 times, 3 times he called back.  I couldnt even begin to acknowledge the debt that he was referring too and he wouldnt be quiet long enough to listen to me.  He continued to rant, rave, ect.  Kevin Kauffman is bad news, he threatened me with judgments, warrents, closing credit cards accounts, ect.  He went as far as to tell me that his boss was god and since he is a lawyer in the state of NY he can do whatever he wants.  This guy is a joke and really a piece of work.  I have never in my life had such an experience.  He is only trying to squeeze blood out of dry turnips.

I got a call from these clowns today. A Mrs. Hardy called me and left a message. I called her back and she threatened me with litigation. She harassed me and told me that I knew I owed them money and I had better pay. She asked for the last 4 digits of my ssn and I told her to tell me the last 4 digits that they have on file and I would verify if it was correct. Of course she would not answer. I am so glad that good people on this site have posted what scam artists they are!

She had a choice.  She could have paid the bill according to the contract she signed. They all state the same, if you are delinquent, there will be penalties which are specified in the contract, nothing more, nothing less.  The problem is, everyone thinks they are entitled to let bills go forever & that they should never pay more than the original balance.  Instead, people like you & I should pick up the tab in the long run. Debtors need to start taking responsibilty.  No one ever denies owing the debt, they just spend more time trying to get out of paying them. And, those in the position of contacting them to collect it get bashed like they do on boards like this.

These people are complete idiots.  My first contact with them was on Aug 25th 2008- but they say they have been trying to contact me for the past 8 months.  Interesting..... I never got one call or letter of the supposed "debt" they say I owe, which by the way is always a different amount.  Varies from 2300- 6,000.  So now they are calling my family members and harassing them, by saying there is a "warrant in pending for civil action".  OH PLEASE.  What a joke. And "the attorney's client needs my information.... blah, blah, blah.  I have done a bit of research and have educated myself, and now I just laugh at what [***] they are making of themselves.  They make calls and send letters like they are BIG powerful people who are going to see to it that you are hauled away to jail, when in fact they are dishonest, uneducated people who enjoy bullying people to try to get money that is not owed.  If you have a debt that is not valid, or time-barred, dont give them the time of day.  They seem to have many different names.  Kingman, Cole, and [***] (as I call them), Kingman Arbitration- as they call themselves- Maze, and a couple others.  Just hang up- dont let them waste your time.  Losers!  OH, and one more thing.... they are big on caller ID spoofing.  I got a call from them (being in Buffalo NY area) but the number on caller ID was none other than the courthouse in my county.  It is a common used practice to scare people.

Just for laughs-and-giggles, contact your county prosecutor or district attorney and inform them of the caller id stunt. In general, caller id spoofing is legal, but spoofing the number of any government entity may be an entirely different. It'd be fun to find out.

I have already contacted other "avenues" regarding the spoofing.  They can do their little calls and use any number they want, I dont really care.  I find it all very amusing.  It seems like such a sad life and occupation to have- those bottom feeder, junk debt, illegal collections people.  Sad really.  If you would like to find out- have at it and let everyone know.

It's a scam. See my message earlier in this thread dated July 29 for more information on this operation and how you can alert federal and state law enforcement agencies.

Also, check out these news reports about this particular scam:  http://www.swtimes.com/articles/2008/07/11/news/news01.txt

I've received two calls in two days from this number. I think this collection agency needs to be reported for failing to follow the guidelines of the "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act" and any other laws, rules or regulations they are breaking. They are threatening "Legal Action" if you don't respond to their phone call which is highly illegal and is an offense for which they can be sued. Plus they threw all kinds of "Buzz" words in the message like, "State & Federal Law, Civil Judgment, Processing, _______ County Courts, Legal Division and Arbitration" etc.  My message went exactly like this and they didn't even get my name right:

"This message is for um...__________. This is Ms. Brent. Um...In accordance with state and federal law, you are being duly notified, um...of a civil judgment processing with the _______ County Courts. If you would like to resolve this matter without the courts being involved, please contact Mr. Webster at the Legal Division (garbled) Arbitration Offices within the next 24 hours at 866-345-4590, extension 137, Case number _______________. If we do not hear from you within the next 24 hours we will submit a warrant or summonds to your County Clerks Office for immediate litigation. Again the number is 866-345-4590, extension 137."

First off, NEVER, EVER RESPOND TO ANY CLAIMS BY PHONE THAT YOU RECEIVE BY PHONE. ONLY RESPOND TO COLLECTION LETTERS AND ONLY CORRESPOND IN WRITING WITH COLLECTION AGENCIES! EITHER REFUSE THE LETTERS "FOR CAUSE" IN A WRITTEN RESPONSE WITH PROOF OF PAID IN FULL OR DISCHARGE OF DEBT LETTERS, OR OFFER A REDUCED SETTLEMENT IF YOU TRULY OWE MONEY. GET ANY PROPOSED SETTLEMENT OFFER IN WRITING FROM THE COLLECTION AGENT, OR IGNORE THEIR COLLECTGION EFFORTS AT YOUR OWN PERIL!

In "Commercial Law" you can indavertly "Agree" by acquiescence that you owe a debt if you fail to respond to a "Bill". Example: You receive a collection letter (Notice) for a "Bill" that you don't recognize and know you don't owe. The letter gives to 30 days to respond. Like most people, you ignore it. Shortly after 30 days has passed, you receive a second letter that basically says, "Hey! We sent you a Bill for $_____. Did you get it? Please respond within 15 days. Again, likemost people you ignore it. Shortly after 15 days goes by, you receive a third notice that mentions the previous two notices and your lack of response. They now give you 3 or 10 days to respond. This is your opportunity to "Cure" your "Default" to their previous "Presentments". If you don't "Deny" owing the "Bill", under Commercial Law you have agreed you owe the money by acquiescence. Failure to deny their claims, can cause a "Bill" to become and "Account" if you allow them to perfect service on you. The IRS is famous for this type of deception and collection efforts. They will send notices to one of your old addresses and claim you were served with proper notice. If you can't prove they had your correct address, you lose and they will levy and/or garnish your wages and bank accounts. So, if you ever get a notice from the IRS requesting that you confirm your address, do it! If you ignore it, they will follow commercial law and you will lose real quick!

I had a pretty good experience with this company. I had an old debt that got put on the back burner with several others. They contacted me & were pretty fair.  I paid it & it's been updated on my credit report already as promised. The dealings with them were nothing like the companies I've dealt with on other cards. Not a bad experience at all.
