- SHG replies to TimYou sound just like a debt collector. Borderline illiterate and aggressive. Perhaps you should learn how to spell before going on long rants, and if you are looking for respect, consider a career change.
Everyone else: Please check the particular laws of your state around collections. Most states are very protective of consumers. These people cannot call you if you ask them not to call, and they cannot call your relatives repeatedly, either. Stellar is a company that acts as a debt bottom feeder, buying 'bulk' debt that they often have very little information about. Do you not give these people your personal information that they don't have! If you have any reason to challenge the debt, the burden of proof is upon them, and they will have to dismiss it if you dispute it and they cannot establish that the debt is yours. Also, there is absolutely no incentive for paying a debt in Collections if you are close to the seven year statute of limitations. Doing so will only keep the collections on your record with a zero balance but no improvement to your score. I have no idea why on earth that is the way it is, but that is the way it is. My advisor advised me to ignore it and let it fall off since it was close to the SOL ( not to be confused with s&@t out of luck;).
I had one collections account that was as is the case for many of you a cable box that was the responsibility of a long ago roommate. I had no idea there was an outstanding balance until it showed up in collections. - Penguin replies to TimTim
You sir need to get a life, Stellar is a fly by night operation! Your company does not follow the laws or regulations that govern the industry. You run your mouth stating pay your bill, Stellar fails to research its claims for unpaid bills, it fails to do anything legitimate. It also hires low life cum sucking gutter [***] who can't hold down a real job. You really need to look at your own life before you tell people to pay their bills.
