I came back from Iraq afetr one year, my cell number was suspended during that time. I come home, reactivate number and now am getting calls everyday, sometimes 4 times a day for someone named Amy Barton. I'm assuming she must have had this number at one point? I yelled at these idiots to remove my name from their list, they obliged and then turned around and called me again!!! WTF!

They say they are Stella Recovery located in Montana. 551-226-5224 also comes up. I live in PA and they are calling for someone in NY. I've asked several times to be removed from their list but they tell me they have no reason to remove the number. I asked if I could record the conversation of 3 of the reps and they said yes. Now I have them refusing to remove my number which does violate FTC regulation so I'm filing a lawsuit against this company.

I recieve a call from this number every day regarding debt collection for a man that has nothing to do with this University.  I have asked our number be removed and still get calls and messages on a daily basis.  Very irritating.

    Hmmm
Seriously?  You think if you ignore it, it will go away?   If it's not you, say it's not you, if it is you, try to resolve it.  If you ignore an illness does it just go away?  This legal "advice" on here is a JOKE!  There is one person who is posting the FDCPA laws on here, and if you really care about your rights as a consumer, look through those, and I believe you will find, there are no laws broken.  By simply trying to sue a company for trying to conduct business is worth your time and effort, then by all means, file a suit. Let me tell you, there are big bad attorneys that know the law a lot better than the basic person.  So go ahead and ignore those calls whether they are for you or not, then try to file a lawsuit, see where that gets you.  If you would construct your time better, say for instance, instead of calling an attorney, call the company!!!!  Instead of bitching on the internet, [***] to customer service.

    Dear Wrong #,

First off, this is normal and happens all the time. Collection agencies use public phone directories like Yellow pages and White pages to get phone number, so it could be a possibility that the person the # belonged to is still listed with that phone number. Plus the "do not call list" does not apply to bill collectors, unless you send in a physical Cese and Desist letter, if it's your debt. If it is not, then I would nicely call the company back and speak to a manager and explain to the manager your situation and kindly ask for the number to be removed. Provide your first and last name and verify your birthdate. After that they should remove the phone number. Contact white pages and ask for your number to be unlisted/private.

Stellar recovery has a A÷ rating with the bbb (better business bureau). i got a call from them and they helped delete an old collections off my credit report, helping rise my score. maybe you should do your home work b4 typing what you have no idea about.       And just ask nicely for your number to be removed if its a wrong number and if you have a debt maybe you should pay it if you want the calls to stop. GROW UP...

This is from Stellar Recovery Services. They have purchased a debt that is more than ten years old and are now harrassing me to pay it. Since it is ten years old and not on my credit, I have no intention of paying this. I have their number set to automatically go to voicemail, but they use different numbers.

it is not an illegally operating collection company. if they are calling to collect then they have a legitimate reason to. dont start pointing fingers saying they are illegal if you dont know that for a fact or not

the reason they wont leave a message is because they cant be giving out your information, such as your account number or social security number. ever think about that? anyone can answer your phone, its best that they dont leave a message stating all your information, unless you want others to know all your personal information. thats smart on stellars part

They are not operating illegally.  They more than likely obtained your phone number because it was at some point associated with the consumer they are trying to reach.  I'm sure if you contact them and are polite instead of belligerent and rude about it they will remove the number.  I get them all the time for a consumer that used to have my number.  I always call and ask them politely to remove my number and they do.

They call my home phone and now my cell phone asking for people with different names.
My answering machine advises who they have called which is not who they seek but they refuse to listen to the info and continue calling. I pay all my bills and always have so why do they bother me?

Stellar Recovery Inc. has been calling my phone number for months using an auto-dial.  They keep on calling for a woman named "Alexis" and saying she should contact them right away.

I finally called back the number -- 857-453-4802 -- and received a recording. When the person picked up, she asked who I wanted to speak to.  I said no one and explained I was tired of receiving a phone call from them -- numerous times each week -- for the wrong number.

Looks like they do this with lots of people based on what I'm reading in these email complaints. Someone has got to stop them.

I had a fantastic experience with Stellar Recovery.  I paid an overdue bill I had completely forgotten about ( utility bill) and those hit your credit hard. Not only did I pay it in installments, but they sent me a letter 30 days after payment saying that it was erased from my credit as if it was never there. Huge help to my credit score!
