Comcast did me the same way and I have been arguing with them for over a year.  I turned in the equipment at the store and they say I didn't.  I'm not paying for something that I returned...they did the same thing to my mother and I've been fighting that also.  It's just BS!!

    Irritated and annoyed
This company calls three or four times a week --even at night and on weekends.  Most of the time it just
rings and then disconnects.  No message is left, but its name appears on my phones's call directory.  On the rare occasion when I do answer the phone, an automated message says "no agents are available at this time".  My number is unlisted and I've only had this phone number for a little over a year.  I don't owe anyone anything, so it undoubtedly is intended for someone who used to have this number.    I suppose it is a debt collector from what other responders have written, and from similar calls from other companies who are looking for payments from other people who had this number before me, but I have never spoken to anyone at Stellar.

Tim, in the state of Oregon it is against the FDCPA to continue to contatct someone once there account is past the statute. We here call it harassment. You should probably do some home work on that. Talking to people the the way you have on this site is so unprofessional , you truly should not work with consumers who have suffered from financial hardship. Because of people like you, Bill collectors get a bad name, and that's not fair because there are a lot of very caring and understanding debt collectors out there.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
