- bigR replies to disgruntledyeah a charge aft my hubby ran a race...for a membership. they said they'd credit it back to card....that small print will get ya every time
- rajaI was shocked to see the deduction and I called them and they returned my money. Somebody should report them.
- KDSThese guys at DirectTV never leave you alone. I tell them over and over I don't want to upgrade, heck I am already paying close to $100 a month. But they just keep calling to hassle me. And, if you go to the website it won't let you change your phone number so they no longer have it. I hate these guys, I think this alone is enough for me to cancel their service.

- John replies to lala1981Call the number, press 2, then 1, my call lasted less than 3 minutes for the refund!
- Runner replies to Phred| 2 repliesIf everyone would just pay attention to the event they purchased then the 59.95 charge would make sense. I just purchased a race entry for $50 plus you are charged a $9.95 fee from active.com. Active needs to be more clear on how the charge displayed on the bill; not everyone knows what ACT* is. They should include the event or active.com.
- BAZSCAM?
I did not get a call from this number and I don't know if it is a scam or an honest mistake, but I paid an overdue fine online from my library in Phoenix and my credit card company called me to make sure the charge wasn't fraudulent. This number was showing up with the Library's name on my credit card. I called the number and the recording said it was Active.com, a sporting website. Just wanted to give a heads-up in case they want people to call and take money from them.- Caller: Active.com
- DanI actually just noticed this fee and called up Active and the woman refunded my money that instant. It was very unstressful.
- KaneThe city golf course in my area shows up as this on my statement.
- kelly| 2 repliesGlad I noticed it and called them right away. Active.com was easy to work with and refunded my charge right away.
- fraud victimI just received an $85.70 charge on my bank statement from Active.com. We haven't signed up for any walks or other sporting events. Not sure how they got our acct. information. Hoping we can have the charges refunded. Glad I found this site so I kind of know what I'm dealing with before I call them this morning.
- fairywinkleI just got a charge from them for $144 on October 27, 2010 I have never been to their site OR ran a marathon in my life! I have just filed a fraud report with my CC company. I want to know how they got my CC number!

- lovely replies to kelly| 1 replyscam artists that are easy to work with, thank goodness!
- Detroit_DanI got hit for $59.95 as well...I had signed up for a 5K run...this is a scam.
- AndyI noticed a charge of $4.50 on my card which I hardly ever use. The charge came from 877-228-4881, which is Active.com. The problem is, as opposed to most people here, I have never signed up for anything, I haven't participated in any races, I haven't even heard about Active.com until now! I have no idea how they got my CC number, it sounds like fraud and CC theft.
I will try to call them on Monday, otherwise I'll have to close my card and file a dispute. - RyanI got the $59.95 charge to my credit card after registering for a marathon. The person who answered the phone was very nice and credited the fee back. it was a total of a 5 minute call. they said the reimbursement would return back to my account in 3 days.
- Caller: Active..com
- kathy k replies to Runner| 1 replyWell, that may be the case for you, but my husband and I both registered for the Jazz half-marathon. We have a 150.00 charge (75 x 2) that came through promptly after we registered last month. TODAY the 59.95 charge came through. I am ticked. Waiting til 10 AM to call but the answering machine warns of high call volume and long waits. You might want to go back to the day you registered and check your account. This was no mistake. I am sure I overlooked some small print, but I NEVER check any boxes for free memberships or gifts so I know I did not willingly sign up. It may not be considered a scam, but every time I see ACTIVE.COM from now on, that's what I will think of.
- paul tjust got charged $250!!
i registered for the dallas whiterock marathon on oct 25 and they stuck me for that additional charge somehow. i've been using the internet to sign up for races for years and this is the first time i got hustled.
cap 1/ visa promptly put a hold on the charge- Caller: act*dvrm
- DotJust had the same thing happen to me. Saw a charge for 59.99 and called the number. I only signed up at Active.com because Howard county (MD) Rec and Parks use their portal for their online services. They must also process payments for Howard county, thus have access to a lot of cc.. They've cancelled the membership I never signed up for and will refund the money in 5 days. I am going to file a complaint with Howard County Rec and Parks. This is very deceptive and unfair.
-Thanks, - kimI purchased race tickets through active.com back in November 2009.
Here is it January 2011, and I just found a similar 59.95 charge, called them and they canceled the charge as well.
If they charged me last year I missed it.
I don't know what I should do beyond this, but I think it's complete BS that I was misled.
The person I spoke to sounded very familiar with the situation, there was no issue what so ever about canceling.
They are just hoping some people do not see it. - Lauren replies to Phred| 3 repliesi justed called them and they removed the membership and are sending me a refund it was all very nice and they quick.
