- LifeLivedFullyI make monthly payments on a large Mercy hospital and Mercy physicians medical bill from an unexpected medical emergency. My insurance paid a portion of the charges but there remains a fairly substantial balance. Despite paying on this debt from each paycheck, Mercy turned my bills over to Valarity LLC collections. As someone who pays their own way I will continue making payments to Mercy, however each payment now is an effort knowing Mercy is throwing my money away to an unethical company. I refuse to support this company directly but as Mercy billing gleefully pointed out, they simply forward my payments to Valarity so I end up supporting this business practice regardless of my objections. And for those who would point out that I should have made a payment arrangement, I tried. The minimum monthly amounts (Mercy will only spread the bill for 24 months total) far exceeded my ability to pay especially since this medical emergency also incurred charges from pathologists, radiologists etc who I also had to arrange payments with.
The healthcare system in the United States is broken and therefore so am I.- Caller: Valarity LLC

- ConfusedFrom the comments I see that this is Valarity, but that is not the company name the woman gave me. She said she works for Recovery Solutions. I am in contact with Valarity out of St. Louis already but I have a completely different phone number for them. I will call them and see if someone is using one of their numbers to pose as them because I have already made payment arrangements with Valarity. I verified my birthday and she said she would send me some information in the mail that would arrive within 7-10 business days. I am just paranoid because I have had some unusual calls lately.

- Slejax replies to Mike| 1 replySir, matters of a collection agency being referred to the BBB is a hallmark to them as it gives them status to prove a point. The know the BBB cannot do anything to them but rate them. You should be contacting the FTC, and report them under the FCRA they have the authority to litigate and pull their license. To qualify myself, I was once in the business.
- Slejax replies to JudyJudy, that can be an exception, but when you have auto pay and still. It's a direct violation of The FCRA and FBA. Regardless of nationality they must follow the law, do their homework before the call. Simple technic not deception which many are using with multiple phone banks and numbers just to get you to admit who you are and admit the debit.
I did this kind of work for more that 11yrs and I hated deception, but use persuation to and art without a violation of law - Slejax replies to Sheri BSheri, you can as you stated pay $5 $10, $20 but if it's agreed verbally or written it's a contract. The case becomes stronger if the call is recorded as they claim, but in either case the debtor can record the collection call too as long as the collector is aware. Goes both ways, but 9 times out of ten the collector will end the call by hunging up and attempt file sue, until he/she tells there boss she refused to work with the debtor because they were recording the call too. For quality and training purposes if that's what they want. If the collection agency attempt to sue, the recorded call showing the collector refused to work with you will probably lose unless it's a bleeding liberal judge!
- Slejax replies to Owed and brokeMadame, you have a hardship case and the hospital has that right to cancel the debt. It's not up to the collection agency. Hope this helps and good luck'.
- noneedtoberude replies to Mr.Dead BeatMr. Dead Beat....Why do you feel you need to call people names. If the posts on here bother you don't read them!!!! The are nice ways of saying what you need to say. Many could say rude things about you just from your post name but they don't. Learn by example

- sheilaThey call and won't say who /what they are . They say it's confidential ! they will only say It's Receivable solutions . They want your account # .... who has an account number for WHAT ? Don't even know who's calling ! Then want address , zip code and phone # really ? They KNOW my phone # by heart !!!! - MidNYteStormDebt collectors have a proven history of calling harassing innocent people because they are calling outdated numbers. I know this because it has happened to me. Do not allow this to happen to you. Send them a cease and desist letter by certified mail and consider a call blocking device or app.

- Trish replies to goofAshley, you CAN get garnished, but they have to take you to court and sue you first, and win. Then you still have the opportunity to make payment arrangements, and if you keep them, they won't garnish you. If you do owe medical bills, just pay a small amount per month. IF you do that, no judge in this country is going to garnish you if you are making an effort. even if the provider isn't happy with a small amount.
