- Bill - Santa ClaraI got a $9.95 charge on my ATT phone bill from Text-Savings LLC and called the 877-257-2455 number provided on my phone bill. I spoke with a very polite and professional sounding person, Maria, who said they would immediately issue a refund (will take 1 or 2 billing cycles) and also block my number from future billings. What I think happened was a got a telemarketing call from TOLL-FREE telling me about a listing service, and I told them I was not interested and to remove my number from their call list. Maybe the telemarketer pressed the Accept button by mistake, resulting in this erroneous billing.
So, I will wait and see if the charge is credited back to my phone bill.- Caller: Probably TOLL FREE

- BrianI have been getting charged $55 a month unknowingly for 2 months now on my ATT account, by this company. ATT took the charges off when I called and gave me "Transaction Clearing House's" customer service number. (877.257.2455. It worked). A nice gentleman told me he'd take all charges off and when I asked how often he got calls like mine, by people who had been scammed, he said of 40 calls a day most are by people just like me. Pretty scary there are such blatant thieves in the world. I hope we all raise our kids not to be one of them.

- Sarah L replies to Not CoolI too noticed that my phone bill was $10 higher this month than usual, which is significantly more than just AT&T's incremental, periodic increases. When I looked more closely at the bill, like you, I found

When I called the number, the "mailbox" was full. AT&T's customer support office was closed because it's the weekend. I plan to call both early on Monday and (assuming I reach a human being) get nasty if I have to. I have no idea what this is for and no idea where they got my phone number, but it was not authorized, and I won't pay it.
I charge my phone bill to a credit card, so if all else fails, I'll challenge the charge through that avenue, but hope it doesn't come to that. My guess is that these shysters are assuming it will be more trouble than it's worth for all of us to pursue these bogus charges, and it almost is, except that I'm so pissed off about it, I want blood!
What can we do do light a fire under the FCC to put a stop to this? We got anti-junk fax legislation passed and legislation to protect us from telemarketers. Those were just annoying and intrusive. This hits us in our wallets as well. - JOY MARLOWI WAS BILLED 16.46 FOR TRSCN CLRNG....I DID NOT ORDER, OR REQUEST THIS I WANT IT OFF MY BILL

- blondjemI was charged for a third party service from this number. TEXT-SAVINGS, LLC.
- blondjem| 1 replyI started getting a 9.95 charge on my att bill last month from a third party company called TEXT-SAVINGS LLC. I called att today, the lady I got said she had no idea what it was and there was nothing she could do. I called the number and they claimed they thought I was a business, and that they only serve businesses a not residences. I guess that could be reasonable, as my last name is the same as a national dept store chain. However don't businesses have to request a service? And what national department store chain gets a service for only $9.95?
- blondjemI got ATT to block any further bills from this company, found a website and a BBB report on Transaction clearing....seems very fishy to me. http://www.bbb.org/central-texas/business-rev ... nio-tx-90043975 and http://www.transactionclearing.com/index.php
The website seemed very vague about the services. Anyway, I think it is a scam, took two calls to ATT to get it blocked and refunded.- Caller: transaction clearning llc
- from Florida replies to DonthinksoTransaction Clearing/Text Savings also billed $10.79 to my AT&T phone bill. I ALWAYS check extra charges and the ATT rep gave me the company name and their phone#. When I called a perfectly polite customer service agent told me that MUST be a mistake because Text Savings "only bill business accounts." I asked her the name of the business attached to my home phone number that they billed via ATT ... it was a .com business name I registered about 10 years ago. We never incorporated and never operated as a business, but we had a .com name reserved for our Web site. This company is buying old lists or databases of .coms and billing the phone numbers attached at random. Visit the FTC and FCC Web sites to post complaints about this company; COMPLAIN loud and long to ATT so they will stop this - they have known since April 09 that Transaction Clearing is a fraudulent third party biller but they say they are following the law; and call ATT at 866-666-1675 to put a third party billing block on your phone. I am also contacting the Florida State Attorney's office to complain about this company.

- Chris| 3 repliesSame issue as everyone else... found an unauthorized charge by Text-Savings, LLC on my telephone bill this month. Don't let them scam you - call AT&T billing to have it removed and permanently block the number!
- Joe BI just received my statement with a charge for 14.95 with this number listed.
If it was a "answering machine" that answered, that's pretty strange since our "home number" is disconnected, we dont use our landline we only have it so we can have internet access.
So it's impossible for our answering machine to have picked up anything. I am cancelling ATT all togeather if they do not do something.

- WIsmallbusiness replies to [***], GAYes, this is a scam. We had the same problem with our CenturyTel (now CenturyLink) bill. They (National Search Directory) claim to be legit but hide behind claim that the telemarketing sales is done by a third party so they are not responsible. B.S.
First, I called my phone company. They told me that unless we put a block on all third party billing, this could happen again. So now we have said block on all third party billing. Why this is not an “opt in” rather than “opt out” I’ll never understand. They told me to call the number on show on the bill with the charge in order to cancel the service.
Second, I called the number (888-238-5118) given on our phone bill which was “PaymentOne, Inc. billing on behalf of National Search Directory”. PaymentOne is one of the third parties that participate in this scam. They eventually transferred me through to a representative from National Search Directory. I explained the situation and told them to stop charging our account. They claimed to have our permission to charge us the $39.95 per month for their services. They said that we were sent a “Welcome” letter and given the opportunity to cancel the service. We never saw such a letter and I highly doubt such a letter was ever sent. I told them that they did not have authorization to charge us for their service. Next they said that they did and had a recording of the phone conversation that proves they did and then proceeded to play it for me. The audio recording she played for me was of a fast talking guy from India or Pakistan or the like. What appears to have happened is that they called and talked to our receptionist who answered a series of unrelated questions. Then “they” somehow stitched together a short audio clip where it appears that she claimed to have the authority to subscribe to said service and agreed to the charges. This is totally bogus and I told them so. Next I told them to issue a refund for all of the bogus charges to our account. They agreed to issue a credit but warned me that it would take up to two billing cycles for the credit to appear on our bill. Be certain to ask for a confirmation number. When the credit finally came through, it was for only a part of what was charged and there were additional charges added too. So I called them up again.
Third, I filed complaints with the following:
My home state Bureau of Consumer Protection
(In Wisconsin, this falls under Department of Agriculture, Trade)
Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (which only deals with local utilities so did not apply to this
issue as it relates to third party long distance carrier charges)
BBB of Central Florida (home state of National Search Directory)
I received correspondence from both of these organizations detailing their communications with a representative from National Search Directory. When they later sent out a letter asking if the issue had been resolved, I said checked the “NO” box and explained that they only issued partial credit. I detailed the charges and what had been refund to date and demanded a refund of the balance. Now a few months later, National Search Directory has agreed to refund the balance. For some reason, the taxes don’t get refunded. But I’m sure that is an issue with the phone company. - Pizza OwnerHas been charging my restaurant $39.95 on our phone bill for "online marketing" that was simply listing our information on www.supersaverpages.com

- Jimmyboy replies to SCH in HoustonAT&T is absolutely responsible for providing access to these scammers. Victims got screwed out of 35 million dollars last year by this company and others like them. Phone companies charge these parasites for the use of their services...base on how much money is collected. That's why AT&T makes it difficult to get the charges removed. Why isn't the FCC putting pressure on AT&T to refuse access to Trans. Clearing?
- Louisville Business| 2 repliesJust got off the phone with ATT to remove two 9.95 plus tax charges from TESTSAVINGS,LLC-INET LSTNG SETUP. I have a company policy not to even verify information to any phone solicitor let alone authorize anything. After call Text Savings LLC directly, and being told I would receive a credit, I called AT&T and complained as well. They too gave me a confirmation number for the credit. I am now starting my campaign with the FCC to stop this type of fraud.

- John @ W W Data SystemsI received TWO months charges at $9.95 per month (April and May) on my May phone bill with a phone number for billing questions of 1-877-257-2455 (a non working number)... see detail below from my bill.
After looking it up here I found a listing suggesting try 877-716-2478... glad I did because they found the information and have promised a full credit.
To me this seems like a real scam but apparantly works with AT&T and if the item is not questioned likly collect a lot of money..... in my case I am the owner and never order the service, never heard of them and therefore never authorized the charge... so they aggreed to credit the current bill amount on the next billing. Hopefully they will... if not I will log back in and report it.

- Tony replies to Tom| 1 replyThe number 877-257-2455 also appeared on my ATT bill and I was told by ATT to dispute it at that #, which turns out to be USA Photohouse On-Line Photo service. I disputed it and was told they would send a credit to ATT within one to two billing cycles. Neat idea on third party billing.
God Bless America
