My wife got a call from Miles Young from DCS aka DeKalb County Solutions. He claimed to be a debt collector handling an account of hers. This is not a debt collections agency. They purchase aged and distressed debt that generally no longer appears on the customers credit bureaus. Thay make threats of law suits and garnishments on accounts that they will never be able to secure a judgement for. They lure the customer into making any payment that will validate the debt and then offer settlement to capitalize on fears of the customer. While the debt that they handle may be ligitimate, if not very old, they are using unethical and borderline illegal collection practices. Dont be fooled. Dont make the $25 dollar payment to "secure your settlement". Secure a copy of your credit report first! DCS does not report the credit bureaus. If you do make a payment and refuse to make another they threaten with "statute of limitations" and "litigation" and "garnishment". Dont listen. If you made a payment and validated the debt the statute of limitations does not "re-start" from the date of payment. A ten year old debt is still a ten year old debt and out of the courts jurisdiction. And from a simple cost standpoint, no agency is going to pursue your $500 debt in court. Its just not worth their time. Beware Lee Stern (Compliance Officer) and your six man crew. There are bigger sharks in the water than you!

I came home from vacation finding a message on my answering machine to call Woody Sterns at 877-688-8288, extension 113, that it was very important that I call him back.  As the message was 3 days old by the time I heard it and I didn't have another message from him, I at least didn't think a family member died, or I would have received a call on my cell phone, or it was my ex-husband in Georgia in trouble or dead.  I called the number on Sunday when there was no answer.  Calling back on Tuesday, they used their caller id and the date they called me to find my number, said it looked like they had a bad phone number and apologized.  I said I didn't appreciate getting a message like that.

Hey, I just got a call from this number.  The caller sounded like an [***], his name is John at extension 116.  Although he told me to call 1-877-688-8288, the call originated from 815-899-0697 (so set this one on your cell to ID it if need be).  I have some 15-year-old debt from an old girlfriend who used my credit without my permission.  All of this old debt is cleared off my credit, so this guy can call me 'til his balls turn blue.

Thanks for the original poster for putting this number up.

    Best.

I recieved a call from an unknown number. On there website they list no information other than how to pay them. When I asked them to send me the info they directed me to the po box on their website. I explained to them I pay for credit monitoring and I have nothing negative on my credit report. They made a threat about verifying my employement and messing up my good credit. I asked again for info to verfiy their company. Other than a one page website and complaints here I have found nothing.

I just received a call from these guys at my work.  It was regarding a 10+ year old Circuit City account that I have LONG forgotten about.  I have checked online and I am well past the Statute of Limitations in California and I am not sending them a dime.  I am, however sending the CA Atty. General a complaint.  They were VERY rude and threateded to garnish my wages.  Thanks 'Skip T Racer' for the info you posted here.  I will definitely follow up if this goes any further.

I am going to rip these people a new one if they call me one more time. They are asking for someone that isn't me and telling me to call them back asap. I say my first and last name on my CELL phone.

They have called repeatedly and I am sick and tired of it. I told them not to call again and if they do they are up sh*^^ creek.

Wow!  This people really need to get a life.  They must think I am a complete idiot if they think I am going to (1) call them back or (2) that I am going to pay them back for an account that has been closed for 10+ years.  I just don't get how they are getting my cell phone number when I don't give that out for any kind of financial "stuff!"

Got another call from these people. Caller ID shows the call coming from (815)758-2360 Dekalb County Solutions. The person that left the message said it was important that I call him "at the office". What? I shouldn't call you at home?
Anyway, the moron's name was Greg Anderson and the number he said to call him at was (877) 688-8288 ext 123.

I have recieved over 20+ calls from DCS. On my last call they stated I could contact an attorney and pay the attorney to write them a letter. DCS went on to say it would be cheaper to pay them than to pay an attorney. Sounds like a scam. They have never sent me any proof of an account in my name. They always direct me to their one page website when I ask for proof of the company. All they have is a PO box and no other info to verify.

my girlfriend got a call from these guys. It doesn't really matter what name they tell you,...I'm sure it's not their real name.  I did some searching and found the same info as some of the other posts here on the # (815-758-2360).  Near as I can tell, the call is coming from Dekalb, IL...probably on the corner of 10th and State Streets.  I could be wrong.  A "criss-cross" or "reverse" search on whitepages.com of the phone # gives you an option to pay for DETAILS on the address for $14.95.  I'm not at that point yet...willing to pay for details that may not do me any good...but if anyone is interested, go for it.  Any, if you are hearing from these guys, you need to at least need to do these things:
    1. get your credit report (annualcreditreport.com)it's free once a year from there (don't bother paying for your score if you don't really care).
    2. check your statue of limitations on the debt they are claiming to collect on. (creditinfocenter.com)- lots of good info here.
    3. if the statue is up, simply and calmly tell them "are you aware that the statue of limitations has expired on this debt?"..."and that you would have better luck spending your time on someone who may be foolish enough to pay you."

These guys surely have DATABASES FULL of names, numbers and debts.  You and I are just the tip of their iceberg.  I believe that the more aggressive you get with them, the more they will focus on YOU and call YOU...just cause they find it "fun" to screw with people.  Knowledge and basic logic are the best defense on these guys.  They WILL NOT WASTE THEIR TIME ON YOU if they KNOW YOU WILL NOT PAY.  Just don't piss them off and they should go away....like most bullies.

    good luck everyone.

I had a feeling about that!  I worked for credit bureau before and know the law says that anything over seven years and unpaid  is a "Charge Off."  They are total scam artists.  How do we report them and shut them down!

they have gone from calling me at work to calling various co-workers who embarassinly enough forward the call or send me an email to call Tracy 877 688-8288 x109 and then John x116.  How do I keep them from doing that!  this is totally uncalled for and the one time I did talk to them they were rude and threating.

    Lodis Furio
Wow. Thanks guys for all the info. I already knew the call was a scam but it was good to read your experiences. I received a call from "Lodis Furio". He is obviously a "Gamer", "Bloggger" and watches too much TV. Lodis is from a game called "The Knight of Lodis" and Furio is from the character "Furio Giunta" from the Soprano's Series. NOT MUCH IMAGINATION HERE... I am not a gamer, nor did it take the proverbial Rocket Scientist to figure this out. But then, compared to these guys, a Chimp is an intellectual. My apologies to the Chimps of the world. Funny thing is, the debt is not even mine...
