- Emad's Fianacial Advisor replies to Emad BolisThanks for leaving us a message on an open forum for all to read. I'm certain you'll be getting many calls from various groups looking for your 'financial support'. Please leave your phone number, address, birthday as well as any other private info you may have on this public location so that we (as well as any other people) may locate you and use your information at will. Regards, someone who can't believe how [***] you are
- MJHLI'm a really distrustful sort, but I will say this -
They called me and
1) Asked for me by full name.
2) Told me my mailing address to confirm it.
3) Asked if I wanted to preform an upgrade to my bank account (more 'free' transactions a month) which was something I had already been approached about IN BRANCH about two weeks ago.
If they'd offered something else, I would have likely shut them down.
And if anything goes wonky with my account, I'll come back and let you guys know.- Caller: RBC
- Call type: Telemarketer
- CindyThis number has shown on my Call Display for the past two weeks. The closest I came to being their customer was having a Target card and a car loan that was transferred. Both I no longer have.
It is common for Marketing companies to have dedicated lines. If they're going to call someone they should have up to date records. Why call if I'm no longer a customer.- Caller: RBC
- Call type: Telemarketer
- PeteRBC has a tendency to hire sneezy telemarketing outfits. I had a big fight with them to stop calling because I absolutely refused to buy any product the hucksters were promoting. Getting your name on their Do Not Call list will last only as long as they retain the current telemarketing firm. The next telemarketer is not given the DNC list but be given the numbers for everyone. As far as them saying it takes thirty days to have your name removed it doesn't. If they are so inclined they can do it overnight but you just have to go into a nearby branch and scream at the manager. Don't threaten to go to another bank because they have their own hucksters. Think of this, they can add your name to the phone list in seconds and so should be able to remove your name in seconds.
I ask again, why does a supposedly reputable company with a multi billion dollar profit every year have to resort to cheap telemarketing tricks to increase already exorbitant profits? My thoughts are they have a few dim lights who care more about being able to scam people than providing reputable, dignified banking to the public.
RBC reads these posts but doesn't have the balls to respond.- Caller: Royal Bank

- Robert the RBC employee replies to Erika MurrayI work for RBC and just got the call from this company an hour ago. The guy on the phone referred to my "having an RBC chequing account" and a "mortgage with RBC". He also referred to me as "Bob" altough my official RBC employee ID uses "Robert" (first red flag). As he tried to roll out his 'special offers', I kept replying that unless he can give me a better offer than I get as an employee, he's wasting his time. He came back surprised, eventually saying "but I have here that you are an employee at X company", then told him yes, I have two jobs: FT at RBC and PT at X company, and unless he can improve upon the benefits I get with my employee account, which are through employee benefits and are pretty darn good, I doubt I'm interested in what he has to sell me. All of a sudden he was at a loss for words, and just adjourned the call.
10 minutes later the same number called me, and I never answered. So correct, this is NOT RBC, it is a company working under the guise of RBC that somehow has access to your financial information. So don't authorize anything, RBC would identify themselves and would know which accounts they are looking at are actually employee accounts. - SteveCalled me with a "business opportunity from RBC". They say they are RBC employees but they may be 3rd party. I suspect that latter, because the lady tried to talk over me when I got pissed that they call numbers on the national no-call registry. I called back and they supposedly removed me from the call list. They knew my name from my debit card # so there must be some data sharing with RBC if they are only a 3rd party. Claimed to be the RBC marketting division in Vancouver.

- Jana| 1 replyI just received a call from this number, call display said RBC. The caller knew my name and was asking about my bank services specifically credit card. I said I didn't give bank information over the phone. He said he understood and thank you for taking the call. I called the RBC toll-free number 800-769-2511 and the rep verified that it is an RBC-affiliated phone number, she said they were likely calling about a current offer.
