Scam.  Interesting story- some time ago my son's Dell had a problem, I called Dell and I spent a long time on the phone with a Dell tech (Indian accent).  Many months after that, I received a phone call that was clearly a scam-  "we've detected a problem with your computer, etc..."  Strange thing was the caller knew all the details about my computer, so I didn't immediately hang up.  It soon became clear that I was talking to the exact same person I had spoken to when I called Dell for tech help.  The tech that had helped me months before, was now using the information he learned to try and scam me.  100% true.

I keep getting these calls when I'm out but there's never any message when I check - just a lot of hissing dead air.

I was scam by these people, they called the Microsoft scam, where they want to get into your computer and sell you programs and you have to give them your credit card, but now the calls are coming from dell and I told dell.
It looks like some type of spoofing. Dell does not call you, do not speak with them.

i answered but spoke gibberish and they hung up..i called back then checked the number ..so i cussed them out as i always do with scammers and hung up

They first called with 800-624-9897 then two hours later with the 877-790-3355 number. I called back and both recording said Dell. I guess no one in our government or law enforcement does anything about these scammers so they are free to prey upon American citizens.

Just got this call, exactly the same way described here.  I blocked their number after reading these posts. I have an open warranty on a laptop that has 24/7 support. They claimed to have been trying to connect to my laptop for several weeks now and they have been unsuccessful...though I have had it on most of the time.  That was my first hint of it being a fraudulent call.  For them to even say that they are trying to log in and repair my laptop w/o my own consent first is ridiculous, even if I have the 24/7 support active.  They can't just log in when they feel like.  Thank you guys for keeping the community up to date. I am doing my part here 2 years later confirming that this scam is still alive and well.

It displays from Dell and they are very clever, even providing the service tag!  They have called multiple times and the last time I answered it and read them the riot act!  Although I told them not to call again, they are still doing it!

Called at 5:45 a.m.  I didn't get to the phone in time, answering machine picked it up and all I heard was background noises of voices talking to one another.  Definitely going to block.  At that time of the morning, I thought it was some family emergency.

Just received a call from this number. Didn't bother answering, suspecting it was some idiot wanting access to my computer. Looked it up and, sure enough, that was the case.

When you get a call from these scammers, just think of the Sugar Loaf song, Don't Call Us, We'll Call You. This also works for Microsoft, "Windows," which is a product, not a company name, or any other business name or pretext these scammers like to use.

If Dell is following up on a service call that you made, it's just that--a check up to see if everything is okay on work that's already done. Furthermore, at this point, you will have received an email confirmation number and the name of the technician who previously worked on your PC.

If you still have doubts, hang up and save yourself a headache--and then call Dell to see if they actually tried contacting you. Dollars to donuts, they will tell you no.

And if you have the time, take note of the number and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, https://www.ftc.gov.

Asking me to msconfig on my dell computer and perform updates...LOL...No thanks...I played it through pretending to do things.

Claiming they are from Dell and getting error notifications from my computer and wanted access.

This call was completely insane, Spoke with an indian guy with the name Justin Matthews as if right....  This guy could tell me all the personal information about my billing aswell as all the stats on my computer like the id tag etc. probably easy stuff to find out as I am not computer literate, However did not fall for this as there are many scams and DELL nor any other computer company will call advising of computer issues they found for you, Please BEWARE

The saga continues - first one of these calls in a couple months, asked if I had time to "talk about my Dell computer" (I support hundreds). Indian guy in a call center, sounded like an iPhone or two ringing as he answered the phone. I must have made him suspicious, as he asked for me by name, then hung up as soon as I asked him what kind of problem he was calling about exactly.

Annie statement is the truth. They are probably ex Dell employees and have made this SCAM there new line of work. They are now using local phone number to SCAM people and are also giving out your phone to millions of other SCAMMERS.

Called this afternoon while I was out.  Caller ID said Toll Free Caller.  Caller left no message.  It didn't occur to me that it was someone (pretending to be) with Dell, but I did have a few conversations with folks in their finance dept. in the past month and this is not the same number they used.

Dell tech support scam. Would be cool if I actually even had a Dell computer (for fun I asked for my service tag #) - they may have stolen a database with old Dell users but CLEARLY a scam... keep 'em on the line but don't DO anything!

Just received a call from someone claiming to be from Dell Tech Support. I knew it was a scam since I called Dell Tech support a week ago to help fix my computer. I contacted Dell and they told me this is a scam and to report it to the FTC so I did.

Called and my smartphone ID'd it as a robocaller so didn't answer. I've been scammed by this Dell thing already as they somehow knew I was dealing with Dell for a couple issues on my Dell computer. Used a remote access program just like the Dell techs did to access my computer. Tried to sell me an expensive security device that Dell sells. It is a real device. They sounded EXACTLY like the Dell techs, and, foolishly, I fell for it. Reported it to Dell.

Someone saying they were from Dell Concierge and they got a report from my computer that is was breached and they needed to onto my computer to check it etc to which I finally said I recored and will send to police and he replied w/ I'm sending the police out now to hand cuff you. A clear scam that sadly some will fall for. Call Dell yourself from your own phone if need be to verify.
