I get these FAKE Dell calls all the time. Got one last night.

Here's what I think is going on.

I bought a new Dell laptop in 2015. Shortly after, it had problems and I had to get it fixed thru Dell's Tech Service. Who are those Techs?  They're sitting in a room in India. I had such a hard time understanding what the Indian Tech was telling me, I almost started crying. I just wanted the laptop fixed...but going thru that experience was not fun because his English was terrible.

Anyway, these calls started coming shortly thereafter. My guess is, Dell hires a company who runs their Tech India Division but Dell has NO idea who these guys are. They must share Dell owners info and have started a separate operation with our private info to get money out of stupid Americans who think they're authentic.

You can ask them a million times to not call you but they are using Dell records and don't care if you're bothered by these calls because for them it's like the Casino...and they make money if they get a hit and naive people let them into their computers. These calls are NOT authorized by Dell but Dell will not take steps to stop them either.

I will never buy another Dell. I took my laptop to a local Tech shop for a repair and it felt so good dealing with people who can speak English and I know they're not going to be calling me trying to scam me and it was less expensive than Dell would have been because I called them for an estimate just to be informed so, I could be knowledgeable when I speak against them. Dell quoted me $250 and it would take 4 weeks to repair and I had to pay to ship it to them. I paid $160 and it took 1 week to repair and it took 10 minutes to deliver the laptop to the Tech Repair service.  My local Tech also said, they could fix me up with a better laptop than Dell's when I'm ready to throw this one in the trash.

This phone number did make a call but I was out. No message. However, I do know this phone number. It is the phone number to contact Dell on their concierge program. I also know first hand from the Dell Techs that they do not make phone calls to contact their customers. This is a SCAM. Don't be fooled like I was one time!

They called asking for one of our guys by name and said that they were Dell Support. Caller said that he was calling to report that there were 2 iphones connected to a Dell. When our tech informed him that we were an IT company and asked where he got our number from he replied, "a friend gave it to me." Scam doesn't begin to describe these [***].

This is the third number they have called from. I reported this to Dell and they recommended that I call the FTC and report it. The most important thing is not to give them any info. Dell does not call its customers unless you are late with a payment and that call would come from the financial dept.. This is a major scam that even involves them hacking into Dell phone numbers please be careful when dealing with these callers because they will try to intimidate you into giving them access to your computer.

Dell's database of customers got hacked and all of the information was stolen.  That is how these scammers will know the Service Tag, Model # and your name and phone #.

Dell should have contacted consumers when they realized this happened, but didn't do it.

In an effort to combat this, Dell did implement a policy.  They will email the consumer the day before they do call.

They called me last year and had all my info. I saved the phone number. I was told I needed then to do an update and they were so convincing I followed their directions. They then put a password on my PC and wanted $150.00 to unlock it. I ended up calling Dell and having to buy a windows 10 software package and had to reinstall all my software/windows etc. What a mess.

These crooks either hacked into the Dell system or an internal employee illegally provided the customer data that these scumbags are using in their scam.

Agree, I let the guy talk for a while, he was doing well until he said they were the server for the internet, then I asked how many people actually believed him. He will call back, take him for a long ride!
