These folks are alive and still pulling the same scam. I received a letter January, 2011.

Yep I just got one in the mail too ... scam alive and well I take it!

Number was 800-309-8595.  OMG I only have 72 hours to reply!!  *biting nails*

so you did not show up there. but i had arranged an appointment by mistake and When she called today I told them I have called them to cancel but could not reach them. Also I told them I wont be able to make it, woudl there be a problem with this ? she yelled at me too be always saying "let me finish this..." since i did not want to listen to her

I just receive a letter with a boarding voucher from " carnival " for two.

Received the same letter.  It is a scam.  Don't call them or anything. Just throw it away!

My question is has anyone actually went on the tour of the time-share facility and received less than what they were offered in the letter and on the phone?  I'm being told I will receive at a minimum $500 cash and a pick of 3 short vacations for 90minute tour, plus a $40 gas card.  I have it in writing with no small print.  I intend to roll the dice and I will report back here.  

Until I hear someone explain in detail HOW they were scammed then I will remain open minded about this.

I am going for the same tour on 3/1/2010.   I am told I am guaranteed $500 in cash (maybe more depending on what I scratch off on some ticket they give) and a choice of three possible short vacations (Vegas, Orlando, or Cruise).   Plus a $40 gas card for the trip out.  I will report back here with the results so we have an honest and balanced perspective of this promotion.

So I went to Oak & Spruce Resort in Lee MA on March 1st, 2011 and received a 4 night cruise and a 4 night hotel stay on an island of my choice (Aruba, Jamaica, PR, or Hawaii).   For each Island there are 3 hotels to choose from.   All basically 2-3 star resorts.   Don't expect the Marriott, Hyatt or the like.  I also received a $40 gas card to cover the expenses of my trip.   So in IMO, it's not a scam, although it is on the "shady" side because there is a fair amount of pressure to purchase a timeshare.  In our case we were not in a position to buy and went specifically for the gifts.  I'm not poor.  Just a compulsive traveler.  

When you show up you will be asked to fill out a quick survey form.   You return it to the front desk.  They'll ask for license and cc information.  I declined to give any cc information.   Then your salesman will come out and get you.   Give you about an hour dog and pony show on what their resorts have to offer.  Then bring you on a tour of the facility.  After you'll get the pressure to buy for about 15 minutes, after saying "NO" about 5-6 times we headed down to "gifting".    We chose the 4 night cruise first and then were given the scratch ticket.  There are 25 squares.   You scratch 5 squares only.   If you get 5 pots of gold you receive the big prize.   If not, you scratch another square on the card and match that number to a list of numbers on a sheet of paper.  If match, you get the prize shown.  If no match, the default prize is the 4 night island getaway.   That is what we ended up with.   The 4 night island getaway is not all-inclusive.  I was told that on the phone at one point.  No doubt a tactic just to get me out there.

So for about 3 hours of our time (plus driving) we received three prizes.  Not too bad.  I am in the process of booking my first trip now.

I am a proffesional travel agent that is affiliated with AVC ( Americas Vacation Center). I do not know what letter is being spoke of, but I do know that AVC is not a scam nor would they be involved in one. AVC is a reputable agency that is based on honesty and integrity.  I have worked for them for 10+ years. If anyone has a concern about this letter that mentions AVC's name you need to call AVC and make them aware that their name or number is being abused. On the other hand if it is a promotion that AVC did put out then it is legit.

AVC is a highly awarded company. When you call them you speak to real proffesional travel agents who have access to the best travel deals.

AWARDS VERIFICATION CENTER  is what this AVC is....NOT AMERICAS VACATION CENTER. I have used Americas Vacation Center and they have the best travel deals. My family has been on several cruises booked thru them.

I don't know what this Awards Verification Center is.

Oh my god, thank you for your comments. I just got the same letter from this place 2400 W Pioneer Pkwy #120 Arlington TX, but I remember I did fill a ticket in Collin Creek Mall here in Plano TX. They send me the copy of the ticket and I know it's my letter. Please help, I don't know what to do???

Received this letter from AVC. At one place, they say 'WON Mercedez,,,, a value $49,000' and then a low valued $1500 shopping spree. It is just plain stupid scam and notice 'Not valid for Travel' on your voucher.
