I also got charged 26.20$ for Card Registry Service that I never asked for or have accepted.
I belive that they should get sued for charging peoples for some services that we never asked. Who knows how many peoples paid them because they did not wanted to pay the interest to the banks.

I just called my credit card company and it's some kind of insurance that covers all your credit cards, passports etc etc forself, spouse and children under 21. I do remember getting call form CC company and got info in mail after they called several times.I sent nothing back, so they assumed I wanted it. I called this number Caller ID: 1- 888-454-6364 and they said they would cancel. It harassment as far as I am concerned. These companies should not be allowed to charge you for anything unless you sign the paper and send it back. I will watch my CC statement and see if it is refunded.

I was charged 26.20 on my CIBC Visa Infinite. When I called this number, they transferred me to another number and explained that this is protection of ALL of my credit cards. I asked them to cancel it and with a bit of resistance (like asking for the reason), they cancelled it.

Okay, I get the system. But how can they just charge our credit cards without any notice? You need to register all your cards in order to get the benefit of this system. I didn't get any papers or anything regarding registration. Just billed!

First. Of all I am sure you all have one thing in common u have a bank account. And if you all look back at your bank statements you will see more or less the same charge 3 years prior to this bill.Secondly this is a service called card assist www.cardsassist.ca but will be seen on your statement as card registry. This service is either offer every 3 years or yearly yearly at about$26 and every 3 years about75$ . This service is offered by every financial institution in Canada as a fraud protection service for debit cards credit cads and retail store cards. The company that sells this service is called carlson marketing and had been arround for over 80 years . Look it up www.carlsonmarketing.com. You are all idiots
For thinking this is fraud. You accepted to have the service from the bank or hsbc or hbc company's . I work for this company I hate it. But one thing I know from talking to ppl all day is that theyare to busy to ever take a min and look at thee statments or even remember the transactions they make pay more attention to what you say on the phone!!!!!!! I and by the way how did they get ur credit card number!!hmmmmm let me think... YOU GAVE IT TO THEME!!! Be more carful and stop blaming other ppl for you're stupid mistakes

I was charged $31.49 on my Visa in December. I called and cancelled and they said they would refund the money. I waited a month and still no refund (they said it would show up on the next bill). So I called back and the guy said that the person had closed the account wrong and that they fixed it and I would get the refund. I called Visa today and was FINALLY given the refund for $31.49 on january 29th...but what's this?? ANOTHER CHARGE FROM THEM FOR $21 ON THE SAME DAY!!!!!!! I immediately called them, told them that I did not authorize it and wanted a refund. They said that TD Canada Trust had authorized it (WITHOUT MY PERMISSION) and he said he cancelled it. I'm really pissed off now. I better get the 2nd refund and if I'm charged AGAIN for this piece of crap, I'm closing my Visa account with them. This is ridiculous.
And seriously, do none of them speak proper english? I keep getting people who have foreign (indian sounding) accents. I can barely understand them half the time and have to keep asking them to repeat what they said.

It is a company that provides insurance for credit and debit cards through all major banks (particularly CIBC and TD Bank).  If any or all of your credit and debit cards are stolen, they will replace them and issue emergency funds if required.  Make sure you cancel if you don't want it...We had to cancel twice, and after a bit of a battle, got refunded for the second charge the following year.

I was charges 73.49 on Feb 5th and knew nothing about it. I had just enough money in my account to cover my mortgage payment, which the bank returned and charged me NSF fees for! Whoever this is must be stopped.

Thats not right about cancelling it. I did yesterday and called again today and they said they can't cancell this charge...who ever there suppose to be charging this for you have to go to them...I don't evan now who they are...I did not sign or apply for this service...they are thefves as far as I'm concerned...This happened to me Feb 19/09 and get this...my bank know's nothing...and are investgating this. Its the only place you would need this kind of protection. Some are on c.c. my account was debited...thats not a good thing.I will know whats happening in 3 days..look for a follow up on this. I don't call that protection. This is theft.

Mr. Smith replies to GET a REFUND!!!
I called this number to get the charges reversed and they said I signed up for their service 6.5 years ago. They said the charges recur every 3 years on a reverse billing system (meaning they charge it unless you call ahead to cancel), but they do not send out reminders that the charge is coming up. So, if it is something that only happens once every three years, how many people (realistically) are going to remember that the charge is due without a reminder.

Another thing I found fishy was that when they were rying to assertain who I was so they could process the refund, they had an address for me on file in Sparwood, B.C.. I do not nor have I ever lived or kept an address in Sparwood. The chequing account that they took the money from was only opened less than two years ago, and so if the charges are every three years as they suggested to me, how did they get this banking information if they have not contacted me directly to get it? The account I had three years ago no longer exists, and neither does the account that I used 6.5 years ago. Additionally, when they finally gave in and said they would process a refund, they said they would refund my MBNA Mastercard immediately. I don't have an MBNA Mastercard. The money was debited from my chequing account at TD Canada Trust.

During this call they obtained more information from me in order to process the refund that I believe they probably had to begin with, but I felt like if I wanted the money back I had no choice but to confirm my address, phone number, etc.. I have also initated an investigation at my bank branch to have the charges reversed that way should the company not return the money to me voluntarily.
