- not happy| 2 repliesHere's one. I just discovered that we have being paying something called "legal sense" a product of Carlson Marketing since 2002 on our HBC card.
My wife uses the card and pays the bills but never noticed. The cost is $21 per month. That is over $2000 since 2001 for what. I had to look up the company to see what they provided and for the life of me I cannot believe that we would have signed up for something like that. Neither of us remembers signing up. I phoned the company and cancelled the contract (if there ever was one which I doubt) but the fellow only credited us our most recent month. I said that was not reasonable and he said a supervisor would call in a couple of days. I will ask for proof that we actually enrolled. We shall see. - BobzeeAGB replies to not happyI asked my bank for assistance and that made a big difference. Otherwise, you are left on your own to fight this seemengly loosing battle. Most certainly, I would ask for a full refund, cause these guys make their money through these not so legal schemes. Good Luck!
- VU| 1 replyYes...same thing happened to me today. I just noticed a transfer balance on My MBNA MAsterCArd...hm...a transfer from another credit card that I canceled last year. So ...that's it's the fault of MBNA to allow a charge to an nonexistent card. So MBNA told me to call this Card registry people..I called them to ask about it and what is it...cause I'm not a member etc...just to find out that I've been charged for this since 2006. Yay...and at that point I got really mad...the guy on the other line had an attitude too, so that didn't help my frustrations...he was telling me how I should check my statements more carefully...really? isn't that a nice advice. To which I said that's my own problem to deal with, their problem is that they charged me for something I didn't ask for. For the love of God...I honestly don't remember agreeing for something like that. And I just don't sign up for stuff like that! I hate all these stupid charges from companies like that. When I hear the word fee...I say no...so that's why I know I didn't agree...But we'll see, I asked for the proof that I did. So initially he said he will only partially reimburse me, but when he heard about the canceled card that they just charged he agreed to the entire amount. And I said that I want the account canceled and then he said that if I cancel he won''t be able to send me the proof...oh my. OK...fine...I\m really curious about that agreement. If they mean something I signed..that's not possible. I am 100% I didn't sign anything...so I'll keep you posted...I should get it in 5-7 business days. Awful people.

- VU replies to VUOK...so I actually called them again...to make sure that they sent me the letter...to find out that there is no letter. That the person who told me that must have been new. Convenient. Well...unfortunately this account apparently I signed for on INTERNET..so I had an account with password and stuff and information that made sense to me. So...I must have done that some time...definitely I don't remember and I'm pretty sure I didn't know what I signed up for. Usually they have a 30-day cancellation thing...but they can tell you that you didn't cancel. So what can I say...it seems that this thing is my own fault. But today, I found out that I had 2 account and not only one...one that I signed up for online and one that my credit card company called me for. Apparently not the credit card registry called me, but the credit card company...so they take no blame for anything. So because this service is on forever...until you cancel it...it taught me that I have to check my credit card statements religiously...so..what can I say...it was a service I didn't want but it was my fault that I didn't realize what I sign up for. But this charge thing every year, without asking you for renewal or giving you a reminder...should be illegal. Obviously many people get caught in this. I asked the credit company to erase my name from any list for partner companies. Good luck to everyone out there...it's a jungle.
- RazThey carged me $67.64, without my knowlede, better we all go to court against them. I called today and cancelled and aske my refund back, I will see wether they will refund or not.

- Katherine replies to michael| 1 replyI just called the company to get my refund. I cannot believe they still ask me to give them my email address and want to promote their services...
- anonnguyYa so basically call the number and ask for your money back. If you seriously do have a problem with this (which I hope everyone does), do not only complain to your bank but your local or even provincial government. Regulating what we let companies and banks do with our information and money is the best option.

- Welsh| 1 replyYep, they told me that I have been covered by them since 2005....hmmmm....wasn't aware of it! BMO gave them my info, as it showed up on my BMO Mastercard. Just call, listen to the song and dance of what the service is about, refuse anything they wish to send you about how the service works, and INSIST on cancelling. I told the guy SIX times to cancel, getting more and more pissed each time. He finally told me that he would cancel and refund my $34 on my next statement....we'll see...
- Tommy TimmyI just called the number. Option 4 is for an inquiry on a charge that appears on your credit card statement. I told the guy I wanted to cancel the service. He was nice and asked if he could send me some info and explained some of things the service covers. I just said I would like to cancel and he said ok and would issue a credit. No problem :)
- im ok now!I just called to cancel,,,,,,,,,,there wasn't a problem,,,,they should warn you about the charge a month before not just take it!
- Robert of OttawaIt is a genuine RBC charge. You can call and cancel it if you wish. It's an annual fee for credit card "insurance". Nice credit card you got 'ere, be a pity if something were to 'appen to it. It is a [***] piece of negative option selling, but maybe of value. I certainly don't like the approach of companies that use negative option.
- yo replies to GET a REFUND!!!So,did you get the money back? they have charged for 10years to my account and finally I have noticed...
I call them today and waiting for their supervisor's call. - Naseer FarooqiI am also charged with $45.19. Let me try to call them tomorrow to give me refund. I never asked them to protect my card.

- helenI got billed $78 for card registration services. no idea what this is about. Just find that bring me some trouble which I have to fix it myself.
- Kerry replies to jackieI was charged 73.49 on my M/C Dec 15th. It is balance protection every 3 years from theft, fraud, lost cards all that stuff...
- Brad replies to CourtneyApparently you can call the number that is listed against this charge and cancel the service. I just spoke with them and they said I had signed up for this. They said the service is that if any of my credit cards are stolen and charges are placed on my cards, they will pay all false charges on all my cards and replace the cards. Visa, MasterCard, debit cards, etc. Not sure when I signed on for this. Must have been a smooth talker on the phone to get me to say okay.
- lienkabodkovana777 replies to KatherineSame happens to me. They charged me $ 70.04 and she tried for 10 minutes to assuere me, how good it is for me and how cheap it is. Anyway, it is a fraud... and after 10 minutes she finally give up, ad the y canceled and promised to refund money. I will see....
- ingI was charged $67 a few days ago. When I phoned them to see what it was about I was told that it would protect my credit cards for 3 years. I said that I didn't want that, but the guy kept trying to persuade me and couldn't understand why I didn't want it. (they probably get a huge commission). I finally won and he promised to remove it. How did they get my credit card number??? They seemed to have all the info they needed.
- Lu replies to jackieI found the same exact message on my RBC statement!
