- Mar_What a crock this Cardreg or card assist is! They basically stole $79.09 from a chequing account of mine!! when I called to inquire at the advice of those posting here before me I was informed that I had registered in 2006 and ther was a 3 month nocharge promotion. Then the first withdrawl was in march 2009!! This doesn't seem to make any sence to me. Had I not chequed my account balance in the early am hours today looking for an automatic deposit, I would have never noticed the money missing!!
During the conversation a representitive named Farrah at ext. 7429 at the number listed above and included in the debitor information on my account activity page basically was talking in circles and mentioned that ther is a recording of my initial agreement but the password she had give me that i had apparently used which my mothers maiden name doesn't match along with a few other descrepancies regarding my personal name. At no point do I ever recall recieving any statements regarding the withdrawls now did I authorise the rate increase from $49.00 to 79.09!
Ulitamately I am being refunded the $79.09 but i have to wait to speak with a representitive supervisor to be refunded for all of the transactions or for the fee increase of $30.00 for all transactions since the rate increase!! Now I have to wait for them to deposit the refund back into my account Upwards of 3 days. I should get interest on the amount for the wait. lol like that'll happen!!
How I became a victim here I'll never know because I have never given my debit card number to anyone, especially over the phone!!
So Anyone that falls victim to this scam needs to demand their refund within 15 days of being billed.
Good luck to everyone else that falls victim to the credit/debit card scam!!- Caller: Card Assist
- CathyI was looking at my visa bill and saw 45.94$ charged from this 'service'. I just called them....got some lady who spoke so badly that I had to make her repeat everything....told her I wanted to cancel, she kept asking me why and telling me how I absolutly need this to protect all my credit cardS (I only have one...). After I told her no to everything she said and told her more than once that I wanted it cancel asap she finally agreed and told me I would get a refund but only for this year...Let's see how long that's gonna take them to do it
- AlphaSCAM company! call them and they want your info, dont give it. go to bank. never gave them any info! CARDREG 888-454-6364
- AlphonseHas anyone called the RCMP? Seems this is fraud.
- Caller: Never actually was called but charged
- adaCalled them and they said this service was offered by MBNA. Called MBNA and they don't take responsibility for offering this service anymore. I don't trust MBNA nor this CRDRegistry company who claims i have signed up for this over 3 years ago!
I asked them to cancel this "subscription" and they offered to send me the information package about the service.if according to them i have been a member for 3 years why would they send me an info package NOW? this is ridiculous!
Called MBNA again and they refunded the charge. I suggest you deal deal with ur CC company direclty rather than try to haggle with this CRD Registry...thye ar enot pleassant to deal with when cancelling the "subscription" to this supid cards protection service. - YvesI called them up and found out that the $74 was an auto bill for 3 years worth of service, apparently I signed up in 2002 (I have no memory of it). I said I wanted a re-fund and that I would contest it with my bank if they didn't, they said they would refund the full amount if I didn't want the service.
- kWe should report this fraud. This is insane. Whether they say we signed sth or agreed on the phone. Many cardholders do not confirm that. There should be sth done about. If not more people will waist their money for nothing and we will waist our time for this stupidity. Honestly, do we need it while our banks already do that job?
- ConcernedI received a charge on my credit card last week from CRD Registry, I called MBNA and they said this is a company that they work with and sometimes you will be charged, they tried to hand me off to that company and have me deal with it. I told them I didn't want to deal with the other company, I have been told they aer hard to deal with, that MBNA allowed the unauthorized charge therefore they should deal with it. I demanded to speak with the disput department or the cancellation department, the operator I was dealing with spoke with the dispute department and they agreed to get the charge removed, she said it would take 2-6 weeks but it would be removed and I will never be charged again. I asked why she didn't put me through to the disput department in the first place rather than trying to pass me off to deal with the other company and she said it was because the disput department is a last resort. I started the conversation plesant but had to become forceful. Always demand to have them deal with it, maybe if they get enough complaints they will stop allowing unauthorized charges. At least with other institutions I deal with they contact you to offer the service rather than just charging you for it hoping you wont notice.

- David AndersonI found an $80.44 charge on my VISA statement recently, so I contacted my bank (RBC) to see what I could do to get this charge reversed. They said I had to call the company directly, which was something I wanted to avoid.
In any event, I called them and managed to cancel this 'service' and get the charge reversed. Shockingly, all it took was a two-minute phone call. The rep who spoke to me was very courteous about it, something I wasn't expecting from them at all.
My statement showed the charge reversal two weeks later.
I can't say for sure every call to them will be like that (and evidently, they're not), but this one went well. And BTW, I'm still not happy my credit card was charged in the first place! - aicoDid anyone get a refund?
- Claude| 2 repliesI had 80,47 $ charged on my MasterCard BMO like many of you here.... I called the bank to place complaint and be reimbursed. The rep transfered me "very easily" to a rep of the Enregiscart company from Mississauga, so they are obviously linked. I asked to have the amount back and have the service cancelled... he said I had approoved it many years ago, which I kind of recall but I also remembered it was for a trial...after 3 months you start paying. When I mentionned "do you have any document to prove that I signed for this" ?, he said no and added that the money will be reimbursed in my next credit card statement...
Be very careful what you accept over the phone next time ! - giggles replies to Claude| 1 replyI received my dad's credit card statement showing a charge of $33.89 made in July. When I called the number the name of the company was garbled and I didn't get a response when I asked for the name of the company and what their service was. They told me the service had been in place since 2000. I asked if they were sure, because I did not recall seeing this charge previously. They said they billed the CIBC VISA card last year in July as well. I replied, "[***]!!, this is the first statement I've received since cancelling the card the day after my father died 3 years ago! As you can see, nobody related to the credit card requested this service 3 months ago, or 3 years ago. They lied, they scammed, they thought they could get away with it. How many millions of people in the US and Canada are being scammed out of $30, $60, or more without realizing that it's been taken from the credit card or bank account? I told the nice man that I spoke to this morning that he must be really desperate for a job to work for place that scams people out of their hard earned money and that he better keep a close watch on his own credit cards and bank statements....he might be the next casualty.
- giggles replies to gigglesreading through several of the posts dating back to 2007 and 2008, many people thought the banks were selling our credit card and bank account information. Not so. Scammers have been auto calling every possible phone number for years. Now they auto charge every possible credit card number....millions of possible numbers. Unless you catch it on your statement, they keep your money and you lose. Some people also advised that we must have signed up for the service, perhaps even verbally over the phone. Not so. You got billed because the auto charge system got to your number. I just had to activate my new VISA card and was offerred this great deal... if anything happened to me, my card balance would be paid off.....each month I would have to pay a percentage of my balance as the insurance cost....no balance, no cost. I gave the poor man an earful of what I've gone through in the last 2 days with my dad's cancelled VISA. I advised that I don't trust the "Insurance" company and I'm now concerned about trusting VISA if they partner with fraud artists.
- LeilaJust want to let everyone know that this service is provided through your back, so blame the bank for giving them authorization to charge you. And talk to you bank as you've been probably charged for several years!
- MelissaI saw a charge on my VISA for $80.44 from this company as well. I've never heard of the company before, and certainly never signed up for their 'service'. Called my bank and they transferred me to the company, but they were closed. Will be calling back soon and contacting my reprisentative from my bank to find out exactly how this happened. I only got this VISA a couple months ago so if they claim I was signed up for years I'll be impressed.
Never got a phone call or anything else from these people. My household is on a tight budget so I never subscribe to these types of extra services. Very concerned if it was my bank that gave my information to these people and gave my consent to be charged to them (even though I never consented to anything).- Caller: Never called but was charged
- FrankThey actually screw me too; they charge my inactivated credit card (MBNA Master Card...). Since this card was not activated I didn't do my address change for this card and got billed anyway. Now I’m having issue with my credit score at Equifax/trans union for something I didn't want or asked...I will try to get MasterCard to cancel the transaction and credit report or I will call the ombudsman of TD (they bought MBNA credit card portofolio) or the AMF (Quebec Financial Authority)...
I don’t understand how MBNA could let this company billed an inactivated card...this is really scary…
