These people have been callling me as well. Although Capital One says they are not affiliated with Allied, I am sure they are connected in some way. These calls are really annoying and I consider it a serious harrassment. I am very tempted to change my number. I am currently going through BK and can't wait until it's over. gggrrrrr

Solution: I added them to my caller id so I know when they call. I ignore them or just send them directly to my VM, they never leave a message.

i get about 5 call per day from this number. when i pick up no one answer......they call even on sundays

i recieved several calls from the company looking for get this!!! my ex-husbands wife!!! we have been divorced for more than 12 years!!! they live across the country!!!

call came in....googled it and found this website..was concerned because we do carry a cap one card, however there are no issues with late payments as we pay our charges immediately.  I answered &  it rang to a rep to let them know I picked up.... the connection was horrible and the individual was heavy breather....ick.  Asked for John, told him he had the wrong #...repeated my # back to me and asked how long I've had this phone #...I asked what firm he was with and he stated Allied Interstate..it was a personal call (for John...I have no idea who John is)...told him I was aware it was a scam and not to call my house again...said he removed us from the list.  I guess that would be the 'I work for a company that has no moral compass list'.   We'll see...will report to do not call list....we are on list, however a lot of calls have been coming through lately.

Also received many calls today from this number. It says "TELEMARKETING" 888-748-4956  on my Caller ID.  The person hung up the 1st 2x and then would not state why he was calling, but needed to discuss a personal business matter with my husband.  

We are on the do not call registry for years.  We are not behind in a debt and after reading this checked our Capital One was paid (just to make sure LOL) and all is fine.  I don't know what they want but I have made a report against them to donotcallregistry since we do not have business with them, the ID says telemarketing and we don't take sales calls.

I suggest you all do the same

I'm tired to say anything about calls received from this number.

this is capitalone,it is a collection agency,you or someone at this number had a card at one time.i know because i got behind once and as soon as i got caught up.this number and two other numbers stopped calling right away.its not a scam,and you can get mad all you want.just answer the phone and wait someone will come on,tell them if you are not the person with the debt ,no one lives here with that name,and please never call here again,and they will stop,legally they have to stop calling,if you ask them to.

A few months ago I started receiving calls from this number.  I never answered and they never left a message.  When the calls reached about 50 a week, I found out that my phone company offered a call forwarding feature.  I could enter a phone number and when that number calls, I can forward it to another number. SO, I forwarded the 888 number back to itself.

Haven't heard from them since.

Got a call from this number every hour yesterday - they wouldn't quit.  She said they were Allied collecting a debt for Capital One.  I told her my Capital One car loan is current & has never been behind.  She then attempted to get the last 4 digital of my SSN.

I promptly told her to remove me from the company telemarketing list & that I was going to report them to the FTC.  And I did, this morning.  

Haven't gotten a call since.  

A quick search proves this company is a scam.  They are trying to get private information from consumers in order to take over your identity.  BEWARE.

If you hear from them, report them to the FTC.  They have to look into it.

i am thinking many of these calls are to people placed as reference for others. after a long...not so nice call i did discover they were looking for an associate of mine. Told them to get lost and not to call again.

My Capital One credit card application did not list the phone number (713) that my family is receiving calls at.  It is not my home.  I lived north many years ago.  I put their number on a Capital One bank checking account application.  They said it would not be used for debt collection.  Guess the credit card company and the bank exchanged phone number information.

I have received 3 calls from 888-748-4956 within an hour and a half this morning.  I finally hit return call on my phone and some woman answered the phone saying "Allied" something or another.  She asked for an account number to which I told her NO.  I then told her that I wanted my phone number removed from their calling list or I would report them to the FBI as a scammer.  She asked if my name was "Mary", to which I said NO.  Then she asked how long I have had this number, to which I told her it was none of her business.  Again I told her to remove my number from their calling list and to that she said that it would take 24-48 hours to do so.  If I get a call from them again, maybe blowing a police whistle into the phone might help them decided not to call again.

I have been getting the same calls with no messsages left so I called them back. I did get a person and he was looking for someone other than myself who did owe them money.  I was told it would take up to 72 hours for my number to be removed.  I then called Capital One to make sure my account was okay and all was good on that end.  What it seems like to me is they are trying any number that is some what similar to the person's number they are trying to reach.  I've had my number for over 8 years.

Just to add a note -- I  never gave them my information I just asked them who they were looking for and let them know I wasn't that person.

I got calls 11 times today from 8am to 6pm, thats about two calls an hour, this is crazy.
