I got a call saying they had legal papers to deliver. They claim it is is Johnson Smith & Associated but I have no idea if it's legit. Sounds suspicious.

I got the same call with the same message. Whoever it is has hijacked the phone number of another business.

Same thing. Wanted to confirm someone would be available to receive the legal papers, no attempt was made to deliver those documents, the I got another call saying i need to call the legal dept before a certain date which they say they will FILE THE PAPERWORK.
Also it comes up as UNKNOWN CALLER so you cant even block the number.

Same message about legal documents being delivered. Has to be a scam as I don't have anything in collections. Caller ID blocked which immediately makes me suspicious.

I got a call then saw this post yesterday and decided to call and see what it was about.
Turned out to be legitimate.  They are representing my car insurance for a claim that was submitted against me. And it was something that needed to be addressed.   So all I can recommend is that you  cal, a division ask what it is about.

Sorry but that isn't how "legal documents" are delivered.  They would have simply had you served personally or mailed them to you certified mail.  I can't seem to find an actual company with that name, so why don't you give us the address.  It should be right there at the top of those "legal documents" they sent you.

"Fernando" left his hide-away and is telling lies.  Folks, read the other posts here - These are debt scammers and they are crooks.  The story about "papers" is a lie.  The scam is to get you thinking you owe a debt you forgot about.  You will be threatened and harassed by debt collectors over debts that are not yours.  Ignore and Block the calls!  Here is a link on this site to help you.

So, your insurance company didn't call you? Just this random caller claiming to represent them? Did you verify their legitimacy by calling your insurance company? Because  just taking the word of some random caller isn't  the smartest thing to do. I hope you didn't pay them in any way.

I just received a voicemail frim "the filing department of johnson smith and associates" saying some legal documents were filed with them and they want to make sure someone will be home on Wednesday. They asked for me by my maiden name which I haven't gone by in 7 years. The number came back restricted. Sounds kinda crazy to me

I got the exact same phone call!!!! This is crazy!!! I'm glad to hear other people had this happen, I was really scared!!!! What the heck is this???? 😠

B-Edwards' post tells you what it is. It's an extortion scam hoping to scare you out of money by claiming you owe something you don't. Stamped out without any kind of response from the receivers. No kind of answer from the numbers they call, no chance for them, including bogus threats. Stay ahead of the caller by remembering a phone call, fax, or email is NOT valid proof for debt, and a legitimate collector will have no problem sending you one in the mail.

I received a message from Ariona in the document center stating the same thing except they said the paperwork was for someone with a different first name who does live in the same state as I do, it seems they are searching for phone numbers of people with the same last name. I am not calling them back.

I got a second call today and let it go to voicemail, it was Arianna again saying now they are sending it to legal if I don't call back...first they used my maiden name then second call was my married name which is on my voicemail...called the police who said...IT'S A SCAM!!!

Had the same call twice. First, they gave me until Tuesday to respond for papers delivered on Wednesday. Then they called my sister with the same message. I got a call four days later telling me they will file some legal papers if I do not respond by Tuesday. Johnson and associates or something like that. Called from blocked number. They can file because I am not calling them back.

Our office has received a few phone calls where the caller has indicated they received a call or a voicemail stating that someone with Johnson, Smith and Associates would be hand-delivering some important documents to their residence and they needed to verify that someone above the age of 18 would be home.  There was no number left for a return call and no valid phone number appeared on caller id, so the recipients of these calls Googled “Johnson, Smith and Associates”, and got our firm.  We would like to reassure you that this is in no way related to JSA CPAs, PLLC (formerly Johnson, Smith and Associates, PLLC), in Little Rock, Arkansas.  We have been in touch with the Attorney General’s office regarding this matter.

I called them back via VOIP  and demanded a physical address. They gave me this:

Which is a UPS store. When confronted with this, they claim they are upstairs. Obviously pitching a tent on the roof.

Like a criminal will respond with good/honest information just because you demand it?
