We receive several calls daily from this number.  It is a recorded message stating that the call is for Ronnie White......if you are Ronnie White, please press '1' now.  No option as to what to do if you are not Ronnie White.  If we don't answer, they leave the garbage on the answering machine.

Do yourself a favor, if you live in PA, file a complaint with the PA Attorney Generals office.  Here is the information for these folks.   The phone number they use to call with is 1-888-799-8009.   I have no debts so somehow they got my number.  Also suggest going to BBB and let them be listed.

What they do is find similiar names close to or even past individuals who may have lived at the address, or in some cases next door neighbors of the person they are looking for.

I would be ashamed to even admit that I worked for a company like this.    Essentially what it appears they are doing is out sourcing their calling to an off shore location, they call you from a list they have, again and again.

Block the call, file with the Attorney General's office in whatever state you are located, as well as the BBB, and if enough folks complain they will take action.

    KFP,

Actually you are not totally correct as well, no offence.   They cannot continue to call you legit or not, if you send them a registered letter advising they are NOT to call you, that all communications MUST be in writing.

As for being able to call if your number is considered associated, that is not correct either.   In that case the person must be YOU, or a Husband/Wife.    You cannot just call a number and harass the owner of the phone number just because it might have been or could be associated with the person they are looking for.

Each state is different, so check with you specific State.   States have further limitations on debt collectors above and beyond the Federal regulations.

Thanks for the information.  I reported them to the FCC and Do Not Call list.  The representative was the rudest person I've ever talked to.  I really hope this company gets what it deserves.

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

    David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

    1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
    2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
    3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

Recieve a call from the above number "if this is not the phone number for  -------------------------.call this number"

Did not call back.  I have reported this number to consumer affairs, will do it again. They must be selling a list of old telephone numbers.

I have had the same telephone number since 1965.

I am not sure the computer can read this but it has been fun trying. The minute the collection agency can read they will know where the phone is located and who it belongs to.

I have had a gleeful time conversing with you all.

This so called collection agency calls for my husband daily on a home number we don't even give out anymore. My husband never gets the call or answers cause he uses a different phone number.A recording says the same spill over & over. They call 6 times daily for the last month.I am on the do not call list. All numbers but that does not matter anymore.I still get calls but i do not call back except once to see who it was.Call from a 8887998009 number. A reputible company in my actual state of residence would use listed business number i think?Gotta be a fake collection.

I just noticed that Tate and kerlin Associates are listed with debt. collectors in Illinoise which is where an insurance company is that solicited me through my husbands employers union to purchase insurance under the guise of having to recieve insuranceinfo for union or husbands employer. I called Employer & union & was told they do not have to come to home for anything unless to sell policies if we wanted them too. This union associate said if we keep getting harassed call union back & report it & they would deal with it.I did not but did file a do not call but one representative kept calling & harrassing us about false coverage for about a year. Finally my husband just told this representative to stop calling we aren't interested. She has finally stoped but the other calls began so i think it is a scam & she may be giving out our information. We had a doctor who had legal trouble & just walked away from practice. Employees & doctor had been investigated numerous times the few years she stayed in our city. She had been in many practices & states.Had problems with staff and patient privacy & protecting our personal info from being used by her staff. All this equals up to corrupt practices and folks working with personal information who are really criminals posing as responsible professionals.I think the insurance rep;from American Income in Atlanta Ga. & this mentally challenged rep.is behind the collection calls made by this scam co. Tate & kerlin or Kirklin associates from an 888 number in PA. to They are actually linked to collection attorney's who are soliciting complaint sites to appear helpful from illinoise where Husbands actual Employer has health insurance.

This number is from Tate and Karlin.  These people are a joke.  If you start investigating you will see these "scums" are in debt collections.  They are also associated with Cross Country Bank and also associated with Portfolio Recovery Services.  Seems as if this debt collection business is quite a moneymaker these days.  Do not settle anything with these people because in all most if not all instances your account will show up at one or all the bureaus as Portfolio Recovery, Cross Country Bank and a few others.  The debt collection industry has run rampant and they are not being governed with any expertise.  If one name goes sour they start debt collections under one their other 5-6 names.  You collection accounts could show up in different names as never paid even if it is paid.   Someone needs to blow the lid off these "scums"  and wipe them off this earth.

LVNV Funding is also Sherman Acquisition, Resurgent, LP Ascent, and our favorite Central Credit Services.

EVERYONE stop and think before you pay one red cent to these jokers because that will not take the debt off your credit report.  This way your debt can be turned into the credit bureaus 5 times by each one of the above names.  These people are not just collecting money on debts.  They are destroying your future and laughing all the way to their bank.

These "losers", "jokers and "scums" need to be stopped and apparently there is no federal agency that is going to do it so it is up to each and every one of you to put your foot down and stop them in their tracks.  Start filing lawsuits against each and every one of them.  Write everything down,  Write dates, names, account numbers, amounts, times they call and who you spoke with.  Make them pay you money, not your paying them.  What they are all doing is ILLEGAL.  They are FDCPA violators.  They are violating a federal law.  Turn them into the FTC so you will have validation and run, not walk, straight to an attorney and file FDCPA violations against each and every one of them.

    Fed Up with it
Started getting calls on my cell phone looking for someone I have never even met. Like wise, prior to this some mail was placed in my P.O. Box with my address on it with this persons name but I just put return to sender does not live at this address. I didn't think anything about it until the cell phone calls. I politely told the individual from this company that I do not know the individual and not to call my cell phone. Now I am getting calls on my house phone for this person. I have told them again, but not very nice this time, to stop calling. I am getting tired of this company calling any number I am affiliated with to contact me regarding someone I do not know or have ever met in my life. What is up with this? What part about do not call me can they not understand?
