I kind of revealed my bank statement to them on my birthday, but I didn't call back to punch in the code or receive some kind of grant.  Instead, I've frozen my account, and started a new one.  There's just one problem, I kind of told my Social Security Number (last four digits) and my birthday, what must I do?  Could there be a possibility to change my Social Security Number My brother says that if they ever commit identity theft, I have to deal with it.  However, my bank lady said that I can always fight back, and show proof that I'm innocent.  By the way, the person that called me has a Chinese accent (no offense).

Just got off the phone with one of these guys wanting me to verify my information, because I had been selected to get a $7000 grant... However, I caught him in a lie. When we started the conversation he said his name was Henry. Then halfway through the call, he said "Can you verify your address for me?" I replied "Not until you verify yours." He told me "My name is David. I am calling from 200 Independence Avenue, Washington DC, 20201" I laughed and said "Thought your name was Henry. Oh, that's right. Henry's the name you used to scam the last person into funding your terrorist cell right? Don't worry though, I'm sure the police officers will be happy to hand a copy of this call which I'm recording to the FBI."

He said "I'm sorry to bother you ma'am" and hung up. I've been laughing at it since.

I received a call from this number stating that they are from government grant department. They said that did a demografic survey in the month of December in my area and because I have no criminal record or have not filed for bankruptcy that I am being rewarded $7000. Grant money. They had my name and address and wanted my bank or credit card number to transfer the money but I told them that I didn't have a bank card. Then they proceeded to tell me that they could transfer it to me per western union but I would have to pay a $250. Processing and transfer fee before hand in which after I pay that they would reimbers me and I would receive $7,250. If I am being rewarded money for being a good citizen, why would I have to pay a fee? Why can't they take that out of the money they are supposedly rewardinding with? SCAM!!!! THIS JUST IRRITATES ME BECAUSE IM A SINGLE MOTHER OF FOUR AND I COULD REALLY USE $$

I received a call today from an "unavailable" number that was almost identical to yours.  The guy (who could barely speak english) told me that I was being given a US government grant in the amount of $7500 for being a good citizen.  He told me that in December of 2011, the government looked at our area and declared that 1700 people were going to be eligible to receive the grant because they had not filed for bankruptcy, had not been foreclosured on, or didn't have a criminal background.  I had been one of the chosen ones!
He read to me my name and address to confirm (he had all the information correct), then he asked me to pick one of three ways to receive my money: 1) Have it credited to my checking or savings account; 2) Have it added to an existing credit or debit card; or 3) Have it sent to me via Western Union.  I chose the 3rd option: Western Union.
When he then asked me for my birthdate, I stopped him and wanted to have the phone number of the US Government Grant Office so I could call them back and make sure this was ligitimate.  That's when things got harry.  He would not give me the phone number unless I gave him my birthdate.
I explained to this bozo that I was not stupid and there was no way I was giving him any personal information about myself.  I had to hang up on the guy as he was so insistant that I was letting $7500 go down the drain - RIGHT!

I just got a call also about this Grant, well because I have been on time with my taxes, no felonies and no bankruptcies. (haha [***], i have been filing extensions on my taxes for about 2 years now) So I let them go through with the skit and what they had to say. So while the guy is talking, I am in the bathroom, yes I had to pee I can't hold it. All said and done he then says we have 3 options we can send you cash, Visa Card or Checking so when I said 2 a visa card he asked me for my card number, CVV code and exp date. I said well I am not giving you my card number and all that so you can just use my money, he said I can't use the card with out the card. I said well I want cash he said good call the number and give them the code and speak to no one about it until you receive the money. So I played along, everyone needs a good laugh every now and then, and called the number it rang and rang and then someone picked up wow to my amazement it was another Hindu/Pakistani/Indian and he said to call back well I haven't called back and now I am off to the store to buy a Diet Coke a bag of chips and enjoy my friday while my daughters are in school and the husband is at work. Love being a hilarious housewife. Gots to go Ali at circle K is waiting on me.

Got a call from the U.S. Government grant office. I just applied for a School grant 3 weeks ago, so I thought that this was due to that. They explained that I had been selected to recieve a $7,000 grant. He asked for my bank information to transfer the funds to. I told him that I did not feel comfortable with giving my bank info over the phone and that he could just mail me a check. He said that he didn't recommend that option, as it is a large amount to send by mail. I told him that if it gets lost then it gets lost, just send it by mail. He then asked if he had my address correct, and he did. He asked for my birthdate to verify that it really was Adam that he was speaking with. I gave him my birthdate, still thinking this was a School grant that I had applied for. He then told me to call this number back to speak with his supervisor. He gave me a code that I needed to give to that supervisor. When I called back, I got another person that sounded foreign. I gave her the code and she proceeded to tell me that they had to send the funds through western union if I did not want to give my bank info. She told me that the processing fee would be $250 and that it would be added to my grant totalling $7,250, after I personally had paid the $250 processing fee. She gave me an address of the nearest western union and told me to call her when I got there. A friend of mine told me to google the number and I found this page. I hope that they can't do anything with my name address and birthdate.

I received an identical message. Actually, the poor English sounded as if it were a recording. When he asked for a debit card/checking account number, I told him to hold and I would give him the number to my business account and then hung up. What a stooge.

I just got the identical call as you about getting a $7000 grant. He had my name and address, and, like you I gave him my birthdate. I never made the call back to the "manager" at 292-621-0436 though. I figured it was a scam all through the call, so I asked the guy (who I could barely understand) why they were doing the grant. He reiterated the spiel about no bankruptcy, paying taxes on time, etc. and I said "just because I am a good person, I'm qualified?.". He replied that they made the same offer to 1700 people in my town, but all could not qualify so I was the right person. when he gave me the 3 options for receiving the grant money, I didn't want to give him any banking or credit card info, so I chose the Western Union option, but never made the call to the manager to get the details. I just googled the phone # and found this site. Reading all of the posts here, I wonder what else can be done to stop these people from trying to scam people. I'm sure they find some needy, gullible people who fall for their scam!
