I recieved the same kind of call today from 1-000-000-0000, and they offered me 7000 dollars also, told me that  i had 3 options to  getting the money 1) my checking or savings account, 2) a debit card 3) money gram or western union, and  i had to pay 280 to get the money. I sure wasnt giving out my checking, saving or debit card info, so I asked if this was for real and she said yes, then I said then take the 280 dollars out of the grant money and she said that we are going to give you 7280 so you will be refunded what you paid within 15mins of paying the 280 because it was to secure the 7000 dollars. I thought that was crazy as h.... so i said why do i have to secure the money  they are sending me and she told me that because the agency would take out taxes and fees if they found out it was from the US GOVT because its a personal grant and transaction, so tell no one because people will steal and rob and etc. She also claimed that an FBI agent would be there to verify it was me getting the money. I thought about all she was saying and then googled the number and came to find out this is a Scam. I called them back at the 202-621-0436 and told them I am aware of the scam and to dont call my number ever again, then she started whispering to a man and then he got on the phone and then starting arguing too, then i said what kind of business Will argue about you getting money they claim is yours, NONE..... So be aware of the Scammers and dont waste your money or time.

These guys are idiots. Please don't fall for them. I have spent the last 20 minutes just calling back 202-621-0436. They are really fun to [***] with. Just call them and give them a hard time. They told me since I am mean to them they are cancelling my 7000. O darn.

I got a call from 202-621-4278. They said I am getting a grant from the US Gov't because I never have been in trouble with the law; I have never filed bankruptcy and I pay my taxes. Well I just got out of prison, I filed bankruptcy, but I do pay my taxes. I like to lead these idiots on for as long as I can to make them think they have a victim and then I tell them about themselves and report them.

Well they just called me and Gave me a number 206-317-1478 The mans name was Mark Spencer. He had a foreign accent. Thankfully my mom got on the line and I took down all there contact information that will be going to my local news station. They told me that I had a grant for 9,200....200?? Don't understand it and really didn't understand what he was talking bout. I kept confronting him and he couldn't ansewer the legal questions my mom was asking. He said that I was also randomly selected out of 1500 people I was like dude I couldn't be randomly selected out of 2 people. But there aint no doubt in my mind these people are scammers, and there very good at it. But they barked up the wrong tree. They will be prosecuted!!

I received a call from this number and was told that I was chosen to receive a $10, 000 dollar cash grant that will never have to be repaid. I told them I was not in the habit of giving out my private information and hung up.

my daughter got a call from the government  for receiving a grant , but today,10-10- 2013 , government is closed!!!! of course it is a big lie!

I just got the same phone call except my amount is 9200 dollars. It was a foreign woman who called me and gave me a code and a phone number to call. I thought to myself " OK I will bite " So I called the number back and got a foreign man this time with a name of John Green. Same as the rest of you he then tells me that I have been chosen to receive this government  grant and never have to pay it back. They think we are stupid! So he says you need to pay a 249 dollar fee that is fully refundable (yea right) I tell him I am broke and cannot afford that he then offers to pay part of it for me then I will pay him back. (really dude) The gov. is not going to say something like that (what an idiot)! So I tell him that I think this is a scam (as I too have not applied for any grants) he then says I can prove it that this is not a scam..tells me to get on computer and tells me to type in www.grants.gov. so I do and he says now click on applicants then says do you see where its asking for a number. I say yes he says that is where the number goes that I am going to give you once u give me $249. To me this proves nothing other than he knows how to get to a website!! I just tell him I do not have the money and he says to call back when I do. Needless to say I will not be calling him back. I hope they catch these guys and I hope that some poor desperate person does not fall into this trap!!!!

Got a similar call from 202-621-5249 saying my number had been selected from a 1000 grant and asked my name. I said it all sounded like a scam and they kept saying no and they would send me information in the mail. Of course they never asked my address.

I got the same call 2 mornings ago saying the same exact crap.What a foul scam that us.I cauguy it right away.Edu us this [***] going on?

this man called from 202-621-0604 said I have been issued a energy grant I applied for in the sum of 15000 his name was Mike Edwards with a very strong foreign accent and a man by The name of James Williams would be delivering the check to me last 4 of the number is 4851. But First I had to go to the closest western union and get a confirmation number! and call him back at the number provided!

Same scam wanted me to get a money gram card and put 270.00 on it. Then I would recieve 9000.00 grant money. I ask their address they gave me the depart health human service DC address . I called the department and they the scamer had employe names. 202-621-0436 the scam ###

Mr Collins Edwards call me and try to sell me this scam --- 202-738-1532 be aware of the africacians making lies on the free money -- just remember nothing in life is free but air....... and they will give you a # ending in your first and last name they are a joke wish we could get rid of them taking advance  of on country they illigeal anyway...

I got one of those calls today. Out of the blue the government wants to give me a grant. All I have to do is pay $3.71 (or something close to that amount) and they will send me a link where I can go to the site and let them know how much I need. This guy with a heavy Indian accent named "Steven Miller" assured me it was legit but when I  asked him if we could handle this via US mail, he told me that it has to be done online.
He called me from 212-777-3456 the first time. When I told him I needed time to research this whole thing first, he gave me an address of GrantGov.com. so I googled it and this is one of the sites that popped up. He called me back not even 5 minutes later from a different number 205-453-4043 asking if I had looked it up. I told him I wasnt interested.
This makes me steaming mad that there are plenty of people who, because of their financial desperation, may end up being duped out of their money, especially seniors! I am reporting these numbers as soon as I find out where to send them.
