I am continually getting calls from 212-662-4579 and 212-662-1326.  Scammers!!  I'm on the Do Not Call List, but obviously that does nothing to block these calls.  What can we all do to stop this harrassment?

I answered a call from this number and the greeting was "Hello Seniors, due to recent changes in the health care law . . ."
Then I hung up.  I don't buy anything by phone from strangers who hide their identity.

just got a call from this number in the past 5 minutes with caller id "New York".  I did not answer and they stopped ringing just as my voice mail stared to kick in.  We get more nuisance calls since they started the DNC list.  It used to be a fairly rare occurrence now I get 5 or 6 a day.  This list is so very helpful.  Thanks for all your responses folks!

What I find interesting with this number and others is that they don't even wait for my answering machine to pick up before they terminate the call.  If they indeed are offering something valuable to seniors, then why do they expect them to answer the phone within two rings?

Although I'm not a big government lover, This is a case where the DNC needs to be updated.
The Caller ID should identify the company calling and they need to leave a message.
How do they expect a person to call about the product they are offering if they don't leave a message?
And the number shown in the Caller ID needs to be one that can be used as a call back.

In any case, I don't answer if the Caller ID is unfamiliar to me, which is 99% of the time!

Regular caller, robo message about a medic alert and they're calling because "someone has referred my number to them".
Once again, it's bad business to open with a lie.

It is a scammer trying to target seniors.  The DNC list won't work with these jerks - they don't care.  One of my thoughts - did they get the numbers from AARP?

Love the caller ID -- New York.  Is it the entire state calling, maybe Long Island or, who knows ... the Bronx?!!!  Just kidding, folks!  This number comes back for a while, then disappears, then rears its ugly head again!!  It will go away in about 3-5 days.  No sense getting stressed over it -- just don't answer.  My phone system announces the caller out loud so I don't even have to get up and look at caller ID.

I am on the Do Not Call Register, for whatever good that may be. Anyway, at 3:20 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 my home landline phone rings. When I answered the call, they hung up and leave no message. The calling idiots number showed up on the caller ID as "New York" followed by phone number 1-212-662-1362. I'll be filing another formal complaint, and hope some action is taken for a change!

Just got 2 ALERT calls within 2 minutes with different phone numbers.

One of my family members joined AARP and we started to get barraged by 14 senior ALERT calls.

    AARP Related? Maybe.

Of course the government can't do anything. They get over 4 million registered complaints a year...that's close to 11,000 a day. Of the 4 million, those are just a small percentage of these calls that are actually made so they can only do so much. But as far as the scammers getting the numbers from the DNC list.....that is complete [***]

9/11/14 @ 1:20 pm received a call from 212-662-1326.  We are in Oregon and receive many scam calls.  We do not answer.  The police told me that the telemarketers can get numbers that are local numbers and be in another state or country.  Do not be gullible to a local landline or cell number.  They aren't all out of area.  Don't answer if you don't know who is on the other end.  Or hang up and do not talk with these robo callers.

As one person said, we are getting millions of Robo calls a day, often from off-shore, dialed by a machine. I'm hoping our local phone companies will get the software to detect these scammers and block their numbers, should be part of our contract with them. The company that issues the number should be held accountable for the appropriate use of that number, fine them for aiding fraud.
Also, how about letting companies (attorneys) go after these scammers and pay the people who take the time to report to the DNC. Let's see, one million calls x $10 = $10,000,000. Half to us, half to the attorneys. Should be possible.
