Good luck dealing with companies that route their calls through the internet, spoofs their caller IDs, and locates their telemarketing centers outside the USA. - Gompers replies to Possibility| 1 reply"Answer the call, get the company's name address phone"
Do you really believe that they are going to give you their real info? Come on, they are scammers, most likely located outside the USA. They just want you to reveal your info. - Gompers replies to Scum Eliminator"There are scum companies who make equipment for these slimeball spammers to use on us. "
Good luck going after a company based in China. - RHRIt seems that all calls coming frim the 212 and 516 area code are Med Alert telemaketers. They just change the ID and last for numbers. This one uses an ID of New York.

- suecalls, it rings for 3 times, then hangup.
- Ssf1183 replies to min| 1 replyDNC list stands for WHAT? Sure as hell doesn't mean So Not Call!
- Ssf1183 replies to Ssf1183Even Do Not Call LOL!
- very annoyedWell.... Since I have voip I can block them, Unfortunately they change numbers to another one. The best I can do is block by area code. I never get normal calls from New York anyway.
- Caller: New York
- MidNYteStorm replies to GompersUnfortunately there will always be people that insist on entertaining these operations.
- Sherriem| 1 reply9/24 14:09 PDT Actually two calls within 1 minute's time, the first shows as private caller and message was a hang-up then this one which didn't leave anything on voicemail. Glad I wasn't home at time, although wouldn't have answered anyway.
- Caller: New York
- jetamesFolks - the simple answer is to block the entire 212 area code - if you have friends or family in 212, you can add (invite) their calls on your call blocker. Problem solved!
You may also consider a a call blocking phone - Panasonic makes a phone that blocks 250 numbers.
We have both devices on our home line.
Called today at 1:34pm - our phones did not ring - it's after 6pm and I just saw that they called.
Save your sanity - purchase a call blocking device or a call blocking phone. These devices are inexpensive and they work!- Caller: new york
- Call type: Telemarketer
- MidNYteStorm replies to SherriemYou had me going there for a second, cause I couldn't imagine you answering.
- Bub17I don't answer callers I don't recognize. This particular group of Medic Alert scammers uses the same area code and exchange, just changing the last 4 digits. They have called me from at least 3 different numbers. I suspect I will continue to receive more calls as they continue the change their number staying one step ahead of those who can only block a complete number.

Call your service provider and demand they provide a simple way to block 10 digit numbers and area codes.
Scammers are now spoofing your own landline number when calling you. It happened to me and several people on this thread have mentioned it's happened to them. - Mike-in-MD replies to Scam Hater| 2 repliesIn order for a company to access the DNC list they have to first register their business with the FTC as a telemarketer subject to the Telephone Sales Rules. No other type of caller can register. Then they pay a monthly fee for the entire list or at least the sections of it containing their target numbers or if their call volume is small, a lower fee for access to a secure website they can use to check if a number is on the list. Do you really believe the criminals calling are going to provide the FTC with the information needed so they can be sued and fined when they call numbers on the list?
- aggravatedThis a message - illegal twice, since it's a robocall, and it's made to do-not-call numbers - that says "Hello, seniors. Due to new health regulations, you are now eligible to receive a medical alert system. . .free ..+$1,000 in grocery coupons. . ." One time, the caller ID was phone number (without hyphens); another time, it said "New York, NY".

- Grandpa Moses replies to Pi**d-Off BtchPut the blame where it really lay's, with the criminals and illegal telemarketers.
The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not. However, the Fed. DNC does not cover some survey's, Political or Charities. You would need to check your states DNC laws to see if these are under your states DNC laws. The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I think not. They are harassers and scammers and they don't care who they disturb. I do think if they actually reach a person or get a call back or a request to be removed, they sell that number to every other telemarketer, scammer out there!
- angeleyes replies to Mike-in-MD| 1 replyI had one local business call and I blasted her about my number being on the DNC list. She said she received a "scrubbed list" from them and my number is on it. I think a SCRUBBED LIST would be a list of numbers NOT on the DNC list. I told her I've been on national and local DNC lists for years and she said my number is on her list. I don't know what that means, but I told her she now knows I don't want her business to call and I would be reporting her to the DNC list, which I did.
I stopped reporting numbers because it was taking too much of my time and I don't believe they can stop the calls. I have better things to do than fill out their long forms over and over for the same numbers. All it does is keep the DNC agency in business and gives paychecks to people who can't do anything about the calls. I prefer my taxpayer dollars go to help people who lost their jobs or homes. - Mike-in-MD replies to angeleyesThe FCC is the agency who actually goes after violators so you need to fill out their form as well. Complaints made on the DNC website are merely compiled into a database that enforcement agencies can access to build their case against violators. You also have the right of private action. Willful violations can cost the caller $1500 per call. Unfortunately, it seems they get one "freebie" per year so unless this number continues to call, you cannot even sue them and win a judgement. BTW, it is the fees that registered telemarketers pay that fund the DNC office. Fines go into the US Treasury general fund.
