It really is Wells Fargo. I was mad because this number kept calling. I have my credit card and mortgage with them and didn't understand why they were calling because I wasn't late on payments. Turns out, I was. I always print out the screen when I pay online. I pulled up my paper and the printout was the screen [***] I where I had not clicked submit yet. I must have signed of before doing so. It was my screw up and they were calling to tell me they didn't have a payment.

Found out that this is indeed a Wells Fargo credit card services number.

They called so often, it seems like it was urgent. Yet they never left a message, so it seems a bit shady.

However, I just got off the phone with the 800# and they assured me that the calls were from a legitimate source.

I was called several times from this number and ignored them.  Today, I answered and found out that I had forgotten my payment for my Wells Fargo credit card, which I had.  I gave this guy my bank account information to pay the regular payment I make each month and he gave me a Confirmation #.  After looking up this phone number, I found all of these posts and got scared.  So, I called Wells Fargo and found out that credit card services uses this, among many other numbers with "503" area codes (from Oregon) to call customers who are late.

The woman at credit card services repeated what was written on my account today about why I had missed my payment (which I had not told her yet), so I knew this was legitimate and that my payment was indeed set-up for credit to my account.

I understand everyone's concern as there are indeed scam calls, which I've received, also.  It always pays to be cautious, which I didn't do that today.  I should have called Wells Fargo myself and made the payment over the phone, not let him take my information.  I'm just fortunate that nothing bad happened this time.

    Be safe out there!!!

You people sit here and argue beating a dead horse ! It's SIMPLE !

Call the Number on the Back or your card for ALL BUSINESS issues or go into a local branch ! SIMPLE !

NEVER give out ANY personel info UNLESS it is a legit number from the back of your card or from the banks website ! SIMPLE ! PERIOD END OF STORY PEOPLE !

If you get a call from a number that your not familiar with, hang up and call back so that you know your dealing with your financial institution ! Don't call a number back that someone you don't know gives you or your caller ID shows !  Look up the correct number from known resources and call back ! Yes it's a little more work and if it ends up being that the original caller was legit just apologize and tell them your just being cautious ! It's a fraud department they will totally understand !

In this era of computers and cell phones, scammers can hijack legit numbers and make legit numbers show up on your caller ID when it's not the number your really talking too ! Scammers can break into phone switches and do all sorts of things that's why if you call a number you have researched your safe !

NEVER NEVER NEVER give out personel info to incoming callers ! Again like many others have said, your bank has this info and for verification purposes they will only ask for the last four numbers of your SS number ! If they ask for the entire number BE SUSPICIOUS and never give it !

LAST BUT NOT LEAST . . . . Take care of and continually educate and remind your elder friends and family members to never ever give out any of their info ! They often get confused and pressured into giving their info to these scum bags ! What kind of low life p.o.s. preys on our elderly and steals their money they have worked an entire lifetime to earn and save ? ! Really ? These scum bags should be strapped to a tree and shot right between the eyes ! Better yet staked to a bed of red ants in the Nevada desert and left there to die a slow death ! Yes extreme but I HATE thieves that steel from the working class because they are too lazy and stupid to go out and make their own money ! Get a phuking life !

It really was Wells Fargo as far as today. Right, they don't leave messages. Indeed, there is a lot to be cautious about. If you do in fact have a card or account then you may have some business to take care of. I needed to make a credit card payment is what prompted the call in this case. Thanks and Good Luck out there.

And it's idiotic to think Wells Fargo would be repeatedly calling someone who doesn't have an account. They don't leave a msg. And ask for your name and SS # if you do answer.  Sure. That's what a huge financial institution that has all your info would do.

Yes, thread is full of debt collector tactics that violate state and federal consumer protection laws. Harassing and abusing alleged debtors, their relatives, friends, and others that are associated or alternate contact numbers.

Three calls from this number today:  503-716-9584
No message is left.  Be very careful if they call you.
I called the number on my home phone and the recording said it was Wells Fargo.
I would still use caution if I were you.
