i called back and they are associated with bloomingdales and macys.
I didn't feel comfortable giving my information over the phone so I told him I made a payment online (which I did) and he said as soon as the payment posts (in 24hours) the phone calls will stop.

They both operate (and it is likely that other department stores do as well) under "Department Stores National Bank"

It is a little bit fishy however that when I contacted Macys credit services they did not recognize the number, but did call for me and confirm that it is the macys creditors

I've been getting these calls at 8:30 am...then noon...then 8:30 pm....from 513-573-8031....I decided to call back. ...got the delayed connection which let me know it was out of the country...and a guy w/an Indian accent... He asked me what I wanted..and I told him I wanted him to stop these phone calls. He asked if I had a Macys account & to give him the accent number...I said NO....and that I'd googled this phone number (and 2 others)  and all three numbers are SCAMS coming out of INDIA....and that I know what he's doing, and I want him to stop...

It is illegal to call your work and cell phone so report the to the federal trade commission. I am a criminal justice student so I know what is and is not legal.

I get call from this number as well as one that comes in as MCCS at727-556-7300. Thanks everyone for telling me it is MACYS. I'm upset with them because I canceled a credit card in 2009 and received a ackowledgement letter that they cancelled. Then they sent me a statement out of the blue showing a credit on the account. So I requested a refund. They sent it. Now they want it back. Which I would send it to them if they would just treat me with respect. They act like I did something wrong. Threatening me, calling me and charging interest. All I want to know is why did this happen and a "sorry, we made a mistake". They lost me as a customer.

They confirmed that 513-573-8031 is an official Macy's Credit Card phone number.

A very belligerant woman called my husband on his cellphone this morning saying they were from Macy's and were looking for me.  When he told the woman to call me on my own cellphone she became very rude saying she didn't have permission to call my cellphone.

Next thing I know, someone calls my cellphone from that number and hangs up.  I called back thinking it must be important even though my bills are current with Macy's.  A man answered.  He asked me for  my account number so he could pull up my account.  I don't have it with me so told him to pull it up using my name.  He said he didn't show, could he have my social security number.  I told him no, so he asked for another phone number - other the cellphone number he had just called.  I gave him my home number, then my old home number, my work number - none of them worked to pull up my account info.  

Finally I realized it was a scam (took me awhile!) and told him so. He told me he was with a collection agency and to look at the back of my Macy's card and I'd see the number.  At that point I realized that Macy's wouldn't use a 513 area code, but would probably use an 800 # so I asked the guy what he was trying to do.  He kept pretending he was legit and asking me to provide more info about myself.  I asked him why he couldn't pull up my account using my name and then just ask me to verify my home address or something.  He got real excited then and asked me for my home address.  That's when I finally hung up.

This person probably works for them. Call the number on your card.

Receive calls, never leave a message.  Please Block.

They called me on my cell phone asking for my sister.  They wouldn't state the company that they werre calling from and asked to be called back on 1-888-284-7047.  The call came from 513-573-8031.  I will not call them back but I will check to see that my sister's Macy/Bloomingdale/American Express is in order, via different methods!

Do NOT call that number - are you nuts?  This is a Macy's thing -- I am paid off on my card and still get calls from this number and the (727) 556-7300 number. Look at it this way, if the call was important they would leave a message, right?  Do the calls from either of these places ever leave a message? Nope. It is a scam, do not call back and participate in it. I will never again buy something from Macy's -- unbelievable.

This number calls my cell phone. I'm not sure how they got this number. I expect it is Macys because I received a call earlier today from 727-556-7300, according to "who calls from" on that number it is also Macys. I agree with everyone on this post who says they are done with Macys. I don't want to see these big department stores go away but they treat their customers like sxxt. It is crazy, I canceled my Macys card over two years ago because I never used it. Macys is over 70 miles away. Then they sent me a statement saying I had a credit balance. I requested it to be refunded. Now they say they made a mistake and want the money back. The part that I find disgusting is that THEY made a mistake. Why they cannot say "We made a mistake", "sorry to trouble you", etc. Instead they sent me a nasty letter making me out to be a criminal.  I got suckered into opening another account over the holidays, the clerk convincing me I'd save money. I thought the refund was on that account, because it happened to be within $3 of my new balance. The old account was closed! How did it get a credit balance on a closed account!!!

I have very similar issue. My card was closed for a couple of years. I think Macys has messed up their databases and doesn't  know who is customers and who is not. They are on fishing trips looking for money.

Be careful, there is a new scam out there.  They call, you answer and they hang up.  You call the number back and it is a toll charge number in India...sometimes as much as $200-250/minute.

Do NOT call numbers like that back.

This is Macy's being a royal pain in the butt!   I get calls 4-6 times a day from them.  This morning I decided to answer.  I am $25 past due on an acct that has less than a $200 balance; I have an account with them for years and to my knowledge, this is the first time I've been late.  I had knee surgery and unfortunately this slipped through the cracks.  I told the guy I thought it was a bit ridiculous to call me so many times for such a small balance; he needed to know 'when and how' I was going to make an immediate payment.  Guess what?  Macy's credit cards will go in my shredder.

We get repeated calls from this number including early on weekend mornings. Will not identify who they are or what they want, just asked for my husband for a "business matter". I see this is apparently a number for Macy's. I've had a Macy's card for about 20 years and have never received harassing phone calls. My husband got a card for himself recently and the calls started coming. We have no idea why because we are not behind on the the balance.

I do not have a macys card and I still get calls from this number.  I blocked the number through my phone company and filed a report with the FCC.  No one picks up when I call.  I urge anyone who has issues with this number calling them without due cause to file a report on the FCC website.

I'm in Sacramento, CA and I just received a call from this number at 12:57pm to my cell phone.  I didn't answer because I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.  They didn't leave a message and I'm not calling back.

Someone from this number keeps calling and today my daughter in law anwsered the phone while I was next door, anyway, a man said, he needed to speak with me regarding a private business matter.  I am perplexed as to what that may be as my account is up to date.
