- Renewed replies to TrickyYou are right. NCI trains their debt collectors to maintain control of every call. Never ask yes or no questions, probe on every call, and my personal favorite, "Develop a charactor." This charactor is supposed to do all the work for you so that you can go home and be able to sleep at night. Despirate and relentless. The way people are treated. I wish that there was a way to end the whole cycle. Stop the national debt. Just give a clean slate to everyone and go from there... siiiigh. Hope is something that I will never give up on. I hope that someday I will not be a single mom struggling to survive off of tiny paychecks. I hope that someday I will own my own home and have a back yard to plant flowers in. I hope that people in the world that I live in will find inner peace and joy that lasts a lifetime.
- Tricky replies to RenewwwwedCongratulations, Carrie! Very glad to see things are improving for you, best wishes in the future. I'd try to be nice to the critters, but it's just SO much fun to ridicule their despicable, cockroach-like selves. They're a sub-species of mankind, like a developmentally challenged strain of [***] with a psychopathic inclination. No, can never "just be people" with these inbreds... ;-)
- DIn an almost amusing ironic twist they are trying to collect money from me for a company that owes me money. Aside from that their claim is ridiculous, the way they go about it is completely unprofessional.
They called me at 5am and 6am pacific time. They claimed to have done it accidentally BOTH TIMES because they are on Eastern time. However, after the first time they woke me up I made it very clear to them what time zone I'm in and they have my address and know full well that I live on the West coast.
Another time they called and the device that they were using to record our conversation, without my permission, went off making it sound like a prank call.
What they are doing is harassment but I'm not sure what recourse to take that's not too time consuming. DIRECTV is the company that hired them to harass me. Any suggestions?- Call type: Debt collector

- nonamerWhat I don't get about these kinds of people legit or phone phising scams, is they call leave a message for someone else who I don't even know. If they are a legitimate business you'd think they'd get a clue when they get the answer message indication my business name and my name and realize this isn't the person they are looking for. Legit or not I don't have time to be taking calls from people who aren't friend, family or customers. And this isn't the only number asking for this same person. Not to mention I'm on the do not call list so they are all violating the law by calling me.

- Stressed 9-30-08| 1 replyreceived numerous calls from this agency on my cell. Finally answered them today. First lady was nice. They are attempting to collect a debt from me which I know was being handled by another collection agency. I told them I do not discuss my personal information nor accounts especially just because some called me about it. I said I need it in writing for them to validate the debt before I discuss anything with them. Then she transfer me to another guy ~ really mean and said I need to get a resolution NOW and want you to verify if your social security# is ......, etc. I said I am NOT discussing anything with you until I get that letter you said was mailed and he became angry and mean and insisted on making a resolution with him NOW. He became IRATE when I repeatedly said I need to receive the letter from them in order for me to know if they can validate my debt BEFORE I discuss any resolution with them and he became VERY angry and said he needed to meet his deadline NOW. I SIMPLY REPEATED that I will not discuss my personal information just because someone said they are calling in behalf of my credit card company. I told him I cannot let him fax over anything to my workplace because I just found a job after 8 months of being unemployed and RISK BEING FIRED FOR THAT. He got mad at me and would not listen that I said I am waiting for THEIR letter that they said they mailed last week. I HAD TO HANG UP... :-(

- Outlaw~ replies to Stressed 9-30-08NCI has the power to send you a letter. You would recieve it in 1 week. When I used to work there, no one showed me how to do that. My managers used to profess that it was a waste of time. They used to say, "Just dial as much as you can, these people are either going to pay or not." I used to have a hard time with it because it was elderly people that were in the same financial pit as me. I look at it like this... if you can't pay it back, even just $5 a month, then just wait it out. I know I can't even afford the internet! It's getting shut off soon. :-( Our country is in peril, and nobody wants to do anything about it. I talked to families that lost everything, they lived in a camper! Now I work in retail. I watch people use these same credit cards that I collected for. These huge diamonds on their fingers and wrists... I think about how I can't even afford to buy a soda. Let's face it. Our country rewards people with credit. Those of us that can't afford to go to college work our lives away so that others can spend all kinds of money that was simply given to them. I think it's terrible that everyone fights with each other over something so stupid. Why not take all that energy and put it into something important? I guess I'm lucky. I've struggled and have been poor my whole life. It can only get better/ right?

- wjSome garbled woman's voice asking for "location information" sounds annoyed and leaves an 888-724-7611 ext. 232112 to call back.
It's a collection effort. My number is already on the "do not call" list and has been form months.- Call type: Debt collector

I got an email about callers then connecting you to the dominican republic then charging you exorbitant amounts of money. A couple of people have gotten calls from this number as well, how do we stop it? I am already on the "do not call" list!!! - ...they just called me..friendly lady left a message asking for "Susan Populin"..I called the number back and put in her extension and told her i had no clue who that was. My cell is new, I guess this was her old number..anyways, it's Nationwide New York

- JimBob replies to KNOWSHow you you know if they didn't try to make a attempt to do so. Now that your stuck with the goods, now you want to work out a plan.
- Right replies to thats niceAnd asking to have the number removed actually works? Wrong, for a creditor to stop calling they have to be ceased in writing even if ot os a wrong number. I have returned no less then 8 calls explaining that I am not the person you are looking for and the calls continue. I have formally ceased this company in writing and contacted the attorney general.
And the law people keep commenting about is the FDCPA, look it up it is full of useful information when dealing with collectors. I did collections for a short time and hated it, being an A$$Hole to people having a hard time takes to much out of me. - rooooI am getting calls from them every morning. When I now answer, I blast their ears out with this...

- Dharma replies to KARMASee you there, since collection agencies like this one are THEIVES!
- Jerry replies to rcbhow much for a hour of eveything
- dmm replies to thats nice1) You are not leaving your full identity, IE the fact that you are a debt collector, that violates a subsection of Section 806 of the FDCPA.
2) You are calling people that have nothing to do with the debtor, again, against subsection 6 of Section 806 of the FDCPA
3) You are continually calling after being told not to call with the purpose of annoying, again against one of the subsections of Section 806 of the FDCPA
That is 3 violations of the FDCPA, the people you are harassing my well be entitled to 1000 dollars in harrasment compensation as well as any real damages such as lose of job, any bills (such as the cost of changing thier number, lost cell phone minutes, lost income) that were incured because of your harrassment. So yes, the people have a legitimate lawsuit against you.
