- Brittany replies to debt collector| 7 repliesYea thats why you guys harass people, call them 900 times a day!!!! when hey like i said before, if we dont answer, and you haev called us for three months with NO answers from us....it probably means that we have no meany. IF we did you would have it. SO LET UP!!!!
i mean...does that not make sense?!
Some of us know we have debt, and it sends us into a major depression....we dont need a reminder that we suck 8 times a day every day. YOU DONT EVEN LET UP ON SUINDAY FOR THE LOVE OF PETE!!! - michelle replies to Brittany| 1 replyHow can any of this be legal? I just recieved 3 calls from that same number the funny thing is , New york time is 3 hours later and right now it is 11:10 and the first call I got was an hour ago so that woud make it 10:10 in new york? How much sense does that make to work for a company that keeps you working all hours of the night and you cannot afford to keep up with the kind of life style you would like for your family. Mine, Well we are struggling also, But the funny this is I have no debt, So, I know I do not owe you people anything. And you people are calling me. What the heck kind of scam are you really running. Just got calls the other night out of Los angeles also, Do you people work for the same company?
I am calling everyone I need to, To never have this happen again. You are waking up my family for no reason. Just not to get an answer> Really.
I cannot get to the phone when we are already in bed.. - debt collector replies to Brittany| 3 repliesyeah, i understand. here's what you can do: answer the phone.
options:
*tell the rep, nicely, not to call this # anymore, ever.
*state that you have already told someone not to call.
*lie and say it's a new cell # to u and u dont know the person
*set up payments(even if it's $20 a month)
*get a lawyer to handle it or ccs
*change your #. - debt collector replies to michelleno, we have an office in sacremento... if you can, catch the person on the phone and find out who they are trying to contact. we are like blindfolded people. our company gives us a name and a phone # and says, "go!"
NCO is using our call back #... It really isnt fun answering inbound calls because we dont have any of the phone #s in our system.
NCO's # is 1 800 709 8674...
Long story short,
Debt can make anyone depressed, stressed out, or even unstable. If you face your fears and do the best you can everyday, you will be ok. I can tell you from experience that making payments on a debt~no matter how small~ will make you feel a little better, but it will not keep the collectors off your back. It will keep the acct from going on for further action, up to and including legal action. Especially over a grande... All federal bank accts are persued legally. Credit cards too sometimes. I care about people, so if you cant pay, i understand. it's your life. I'm still here calling people that may or may not pay. call me back and let me know what's going on!!! What's the harm in communication?? - brittany replies to debt collector| 2 repliesyea i answer the phone and i get a guilt trip. "Brittany i tried to call you, and you hung up on me several times, why are you doing that?" wow what a nice way to start a converstaion. I HATE YOU PEOPLE. IM GOING TO SCREAM!
All i want to know is...why do you call 6 or 7 times a day?!?!?!?! What is the point? i mean if i didnt answer on the third or fourth time, im more than likely not going to answer at all. - meThis "person" keeps calling my cell phone, but never leaves a message. I get calls at all hours and I never answer it since I don't recognize the number. It's incredibly annoying.
- Los Angeles| 1 replyThis is such BS; I received several calls a day, all hours of the day. I asked them to STOP! Did there, I think not. I called the phone company, and now I have blocking on my phone. So when they called, I got on the phone dialed *60, and it blocks there number! Did they stop, no? They use fake caller ID numbers, which is also illegal. I sent them letter. No more call! I included in my letter: NOTE: This is an attempt to make a debt collector obey the law. Any information obtained, will be used for that purpose. Get a real job!

- CURIOUS replies to brittany| 1 replyDo you hang up on your gramma? Maybe the call is important? Maybe you have a delinquent bank acct that will be suing or garnishing you??
- klSo this number called me and I called back. first I was on hold then a woman picked up and she got interupted by a recording saying to press *3 at any time then the lady came back on. It was weird. So I didn't say anything to her.

- KNOWS replies to afinancechickThere is probably no other phone # on file for you. Maybe you should call and find out what is going on?
- KNOWS replies to DeniseAnswer the damn phone and take care of it!! Stop whining about something that is in your control.
- KNOWS replies to Marjie| 2 repliesIt's called third party collections. When a company is unable to collect the debt on their own, they hire us to do it for them. We have government programs accessible to track down debtors, we can find out employers, family members, associates, roommates, neighbors, ect.
It is perfectly legal. Location information. We will find you, so pay your bills, ok?
If you don't pay your bills, we will sue you. - KNOWS replies to Brittany| 5 repliesI assume that you are a lazy person that lives off of other people. Why don't you get a job and work out a payment plan? People like you are why people like us have to be aggressive.
- KNOWS replies to JL2 contacts,
Left message on machine.
Spoke to someone & identified company.
No answer doesn't count. - DreddlyIsn't it funny how these "collecter" critters log on here to see what response there is from THEIR phone number? Guess their masters need to crank up the auto-dialer so they have no time to waste being here ;-) Losers.
- Caller: none
- Been there, did them ;-) replies to Stacey B| 2 repliesCalling after 8 PM is an FDCPA violation, punishable by a $1,000 awarded to you.
Threatening to take legal action that they have no intention of doing: "take a lean on the house" is another violation, $1,000 to you.
Calling other family members is a violation, $1,000 for each one they call.
Are they licensed to collect in your state? Find out at your state attorney generals office-if they're not, they're screwed BIG time, and another violation for you.
Are these alleged debts time delimited? Each state has a time limit statute within which they can collect-if they're past that time limit tell them to go to hell.
BUT, you let them intimidate you into promising to pay, which re-starts the time bomb clock.
So, do this: 1. Next call, tell them it is inconvenient to discuss this on the phone, and they are forbidden to call, all communication MUST be in writing. Send them a certified letter stating so. After you get your reciept, they call, it's documented, -violation time!
2. When they send you a statement/bill, reply by certified mail that you dispute these charges as not yours, and demand they provide full documentation including contracts, agreements, etc. They, of course, have none of this stuff.
3. While this is going on, document and record any telephone calls they make-each is a $1,000 violation for you.
After you've collected a bunch of documented violations, make copies and send them an "Intent to Sue" letter, demanding they remit to you directly say $3,000 for "liquidated damages", and in exchange you will not sue them in small claims court. If they refuse, take yourself down to small claims/municipal court and file against them. They will probably NOT send a lawyer to defend a $3,000 claim, he'd cost them more than that to take the case. More likey, they will not show up at all, you get a default judgement against them, and start collecting FROM them.Demand also that as part of the settlement they remove immediately any and all credit bureau reports they've done on you. They will say they can't do that-that is an absolute LIE! Read the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, learn your rights, and defend yourself. These cowards rely on fear, intimidation and the ignorance of the consumer regarding their rights. An educated consumer is their absolute worst nightmare. Prepare yourself, then crush these cockroaches. :-) - ec replies to Los AngelesHere's some advice on dealing with these dolts at Nationwide Credit: http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/nationwide_credit_inc.htm

- Ignore the trolls replies to debt collector| 1 replyIt's amazing how every collector troll that logs on to these sites is a single parent with a child and a heart of gold. Apparently collectors are so used to lying on the job that they're compelled to lie in their spare time as well. NCO will not sue because the debts they're collecting on are antiques, they have no supporting evidence, and their legal skills are as minimal as their communication skills(read all the other legitimate postings on this site). They resent being harassed and insulted while harassing and insulting everyone they come into contact with. They whine about irresponsibilty while violating more laws than all of their victims put together. Ignore them, block them, laugh at them, be as belligerent as they are when dealing with them, and whatever you do, don't fall for posts like the one above - these people are liars and lowlifes and the wisest thing to do is to stay as far away from them as possible.
- What's a "gramma" replies to CURIOUSI would never hang up on my grandmother. On the other hand, I would never even pick up the phone for Gramma, whoever that is. By the way, unless the matter involves federal loans or child support, garnishment is ILLEGAL. If you're going to shill for the collectors, at least get your facts straight.
