https://800notes.com/forum/ta-9f916f0c92d231a ... er-in-caller-id - hatescammersjust called at work. I have caller id so I just picked up and hung up. they called right back. I picked up and just sat there - never said a word. the guy was like " is this (name of company)?", hello, hello. I never said a word. then he just sat there breathing (like I was). then he banged the phone receiver down a few times and picked back up. finally he hung up. you don't want to say yes to these people when they ask you questions. some of them record that yes and use it to send you things saying they have a recording with you saying yes.
- Caller: google - supposedly

- MichiganderI am a business owner - I do value my customers and employees. IF this is Google Maps I would be more than willing to speak with someone that is NOT rude and can speak even broken English. I do not like someone/anyone calling my business trying to tell me the business owner is updating our Google record when I am the owner and I am not updating anything. AND for this caller had enough gall to get very very rude with me because I cannot understand them and repeated my questions more than once. With all of the scams going on I do not know why ANYONE would be offended because I was trying to completely verify where the person was calling from and since they do not speak English that is a language barrier problem that should not be mine!
- Caller: Google, Inc.
- stop the madness| 1 replyI constantly get the pre-recorded calls from google maps. As soon as I hear any sort of pre-recorded message I hang up immediately. However, a real live foreign person called and said he was from google maps and just wanted to verify our business info - at no charge to us. I am cautious when talking to telemarketers because a phone company slammed us once, so I have learned never to say "yes". This guy had all our info - he knew our address and I replied "that is our address" and he asked to confirm our telephone # which he already had and then he asked for our business/industry type and I told him. I asked him if this would mean the pre-recorded robo calls would stop and he said I'd have to contact google about that. Anyway a few days later he called again and asked to confirm our info AGAIN - I told him someone just did that a few days ago and he tried to get me to confirm again. That is weird - I told him to take us off his calling list. Our business info has not changed in like 25 years and we have never attempted to update our info on google, so the theory that these people are calling to confirm a recent change is ridiculous. I am so sick of all these calls!

- does it matter replies to stop the madnessits scam
just ask them what first their name last name, Their managers name, their street address of where they work and their phone number ( and ext) also ask them for an Employee ID.
When they give you a phone number just make sure its not VoIP Mci Worldcom Communications, Ca*
IF they keep refusing tell them that you are going to do a conference call with (650) 330-0100 this number is for the head headquarters of google
Reply ! - Small Business OwnerWe have verified our business with Google and can adjust our Google Maps location and information.
Therefore, there is no valid reason for Google Maps to contact us to see if information that was submitted 3 years ago (and hasn't changed) by a verified account is correct.
I'm betting it was spam.
*Just because a caller ID SAYS it is Google doesn't mean it is; mine says "NSA Spy Program" and my wife's says "It's Me!"- Call type: Survey
- melmclThis is actually the confirmation department with Google Maps - they will call when you have changed an address or reported a new business.
- Caller: Google
- JoeSchmoeIt's google maps and not someone fishing for personal information. They already know your business name, address phone etc that you have listed on google business listings and are just making sure they have you correct on google maps. They never once asked for my social security, credit card or bank account numbers. I get a ton of scam calls. If this was a scam then all they got was my company name and address which is already posted all over the internet.

- receptionistFrom what I'm seeing on here, this is a legitimate call from Google. I didn't see any problems with this phone call since all of the information that I verified is available to the public anyway.
- Caller: Google Maps
- Len Turkel replies to RobertThe bottom line: If I didn't request a call, why are you calling? Google Maps is important, but send me a letter or postcard.
- GREGNo I will not do what you say Google!!! I hung nup on them as soon as they called!!!!GTFO of my life GOOGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- BettyFirst call I figured was a scam. Second call I answered her questions - public information anyway. Address and website is what she wanted confirmed. Probably still a scam of some sort, but I can't possibly see how they can hurt gaining what is public knowledge anyway. Next time anything starting with 650 area code, we'll give them bogus information. Kind of fun to play with these foreign folks.

- DebbieJust got a call from this number Gentleman asked me if this was a business I replied "no,this is a residence" he replied, "Thank you" and hung up.
- JDThis is actually a legit call for Google Maps to verify your recent changes to your business profile. It means either you or someone else is trying to change your business listing. Dont pay attention to it at your own risk
- Caller: Google
- Clay replies to anitaEXACTLY...Speak ENGLISH. Not "Engrish"...Not "Punjabi"...Not "Iraqi". AND...when you call, and I AM a business...and IF I do not answer...LEAVE A MESSAGE.
Whomever said they "work at Google" should know the following:
1) When you call a business, and you do not leave a message...and it is from an unknown caller...it automatically screams to us "AD". (and yes, we avoid it.)
2) But when we DO answer it, and you (and your workmates) do NOT "get to the point"...well, I am gonna hang up on you.
3) And lastly...WHY is every "telemarketer" from the Middle East? Does that part of the world have the market cornered on "whom to hire to make annoying phone calls?" Honestly, EVERY TIME we get a call like this...it is from someone that is completely incomprehensible, and asks questions that only a DOPE would answer ("cenn i gett your address?" "Oooo...cann I gettt your crrrredit carrrrd numberrr?" ) UNBELIEVABLE. - business owner replies to JamesYes, this was Google Maps calling to confirm a change of address for my business. The person who called was polite and respectful and did not try to sell me anything.
- dsphillip2000 replies to anitaI could not understand the person who called at all. Very heavy accent...
