Called this morning, but did not leave a message.

This is the 10th number they have called me from and I paid the credit card company off!

Did not answer and caller left no message.

This is Portfolio Recovery calling about a truck my so lost to repo 8 years ago the debt has been sold and resold and we keep getting call from all kinds of numbers all over the country. So much for my number being private because they got it somehow.

First time I got a call from this unfamiliar number. Caller did not leave a message. Blocked the number.

Don't understand why I keep getting calls from varies number. I just want to know how to stop the damn phone calls and to prevent my number from being put out. They get on my nerves. I work long shifts and it causes problems when I'm at work or asleep. Put a stop to the phone calling.

I have a Net 10 phone n my wife has a smart phone. How do you begin to block a number? They running us crazy. Thank You for your help.

I have that number blocked with Truecaller ID.

Rec'd several calls from this number. Looked up on white pages--moderate spam indicated, listed from Jackson, TN. I have not answered these calls & mail box is full so they couldn't leave a message. This call came in on my cell phone which is on the do not call list. Hahaha, some how that doesn't work unless you block the numbers.

Not sure about the Net 10 phone, try asking the folks at Net 10 if they have call blocking options. If it's Android, see the next paragraph about your wife's phone.

If it's not a smartphone, you can try this: set up a contact named .SCAM and set the ringtone to silent or send directly to voicemail, if that option exists. With a silent ringtone you won't hear the phone. Add the number to the contact named SCAM; in most cases you can add more than one number to a contact. If you run out of space, set  up .SCAM2, .SCAM3, etc. Hope it won't get that bad. The dot before SCAM helps to keep that contact at the start of your contact list, making it easier to find.

Smartphones have options in the app store (Google Play, if Android; iPhones have call blocking built in) by searching for CALL BLOCKER. There are lots of them, so look at what's compatible with your wife's phone and install it.

It doesn't stop ALL calls, but some apps have built-in databases of known scam/spam callers, and those are blocked right from the start. Other calls require you to add them manually to your blacklist.

In any event. don't answer any calls from unknown numbers. Chances are, if a call comes in from an unknown number and there is no message left, it's a phishing call, a spammer.

Received a call today, a message was not left.

They have so many numbers that they call from that alone should be illegal and the fact that they hide who they are. Like the person said above they are calling on age old debts and need to quite.  There should be a way to stop them.

Anyone know just how many phone numbers this Portfolio Recovery has??  They call me on my landlilne as well as my cell...I simply don't answer, but it's very annoying.  (y rule of thumb...if I don't recognize the number or the name, I don't answer.)

They can spoof any number they feel like so there are quite a few.  If you owe the debt, but did not give out your cell number, it may be a TCPA violation.  If you don't owe the debt it probably is a TCPA violation as well as a FDCPA violation.  In any case here is what you need to know:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Debt collector!!!!! They have called repeatedly despite the fact I have disputed this "debt" as not being mine....... They will contact the reporting agencies and list the "debt" as being late, delinquent.

This is a debt collector.  When I called the number back it said it was Portfolio Recovery.

These are all the same within 5 days of calls over and over. They call me from at least 2 different numbers, every 2 hours starting at 8am until 4pm, every day. Of course, I don't answer any number I don't know. If it's important, they will leave a message and I will call them back.
