- Jason replies to jGot a couple of calls from this place over the last few days. My card does not expire for another 2 years and what I have now is working fine. So that means there should not be a new floating around out there needing activation. I see some people saying to check the number on the back of the card and we'll see that it's the same. The number on my card is not the same, it is 1-800-903-3637 and has been that same number for the past 10 years. I believe it is a phishing scam and the number is being masked. Call me conspiracy theorist, but I prefer to err on the side of caution.
- Jason replies to Lafeen Mayasoff| 1 replyMy CapOne card has low interest and is accepted everywhere. Never been late or over my balance. Despite what your pea-sized brain might believe, it doesn't mean we are bottom of the barrell scum. I get offers periodically from AmEx, but I would never use them when what I have now meets my needs fine.
- Janie replies to kevinI agree to this! There is an app on the Iphone that can do this. I just received a call from this number and i asked to call back and before i could finish they hung up on me.
- Me!Called about 12:15 pm while I was making lunch. No actual caller ID information and I usually don't answer for 800 numbers so I let it ring. No message left for us even though they went all the way through the answering message.
Based on what I've read on this forum I will NOT be answering their calls or giving them any information. - annoyedI would like to stop receiving phone calls from this number ASAP,no messages are left but constant phone calls and tonight @7:45 p.m.

- DrewA lady from this number called today and wanted to discuss with me the changes in the credit card laws. She verified my name and last 4 digits of my card number. Then she asked for my zipcode. I thought that was odd since she should have that information. After a short conversation I told her I was not interested and hung up.
I then called Capital One and they did try and contact me. There is something with the new credit card laws where they have give you new offers regarding your card.
After reading many posts about this number, just be safe and call Capital One to see if someone from the company was trying to contact you. In my case, they did call from this number and it was legit, however the number can be spoofed. - marvNo one is there when I answer. I get calls all of the time, everyday and sometimes twice and it's very annoying.
- IHateCapitalOne replies to bobYou are absolutely right!!!!
- concerned customer replies to ChristinaYep,
I got the same number on the ID this afternoon - no message, but when I went to look up Capital One's customer service number to ask them, the number listed was exactly the one on my phone...No idea why... - stg2010Foreign caller; stated they were from Capital One and wanted to discuss the new policy changes. Asked to verify the last four digits of my credit card. I told them if they wanted to discuss anything with me about my account to do it through the mail. Never give out information concerning your accounts over the phone to anyone. Calls can be spoofed, and you never know who you're actually speaking with. Why would Capital One want to discuss anything regarding my account over the phone?
- EnigmaI use to get these calls, and called Capital One to put me on their
do not call list. The fellow said should the number call again to tell them
of what I did and to stop calling.
Surprise, surprise the number called again. I was ticked at the way they
hound you (IF legit). I literally answered, and yelled at the person on the
other end. Told them to stop calling, and for a while it stopped.
Now today surprise, surprise the number started appearing again.
Whether or not it's legit. I no longer believe it to be legit. Since
(If legit) they are violating their own do not call list.
I'm glad I called Capital one directly, and gave no info to whomever
is calling from this number.
Complaint filed with the do not call registry.- Caller: TOLL FREE CALL
- vampfan30started getting calls from this number three days ago...If it is Capital One & I have two cards with them, why are they calling my cell ( a number I did not give them ) & not my house?
It takes them a split second to realize it's a cell * cue answer music * & they just hang up....- Caller: name unknown
- MichaelThey called yesterday and today. I answered today. It was Capital One informing me of new regulations starting in February 2010. If I go over my limit they will decline the charge. They gave me the option to keep the protection "free of charge" but the fee will be $29 if I go over my limit. It was $39.
The caller knew my full name and only mentioned the last 4 digits of my credit card, and asked me to confirm with my zip code. I believe this call was legitimate, but warn people to beware if they ask for SSN or Full Credit Card Number.- Caller: Capital One
- Call type: Event reminder
- EdThis number has called 3 times in the last 2 days and left no message.
- MJust called a minute ago. Did not leave a message.
- LJI kept getting calls from this number everyday and finally looked it up. I found this website and since it mentioned Capital One, I called the number on the back of my credit card. It is a legit number, but all they wanted to tell me was something about a some legislation. Why they couldn't just mail me a letter telling me I don't know.

- Katie replies to Shabba Ranks| 1 replyI've been missing calls from this number the past few days... Finally was able to answer it (I had been at work for all the misses) and it was some guy referring to me with my maiden name. I bank with Capital One - They know my married name.
He didn't say much. I heard what I think was a mumbled "screwed up big time" and then nothing.
Just got a machine when I tried to call back. o.O How bizarre. - Katie replies to KatieSo I called the number back from my received calls list and the menu was very odd. It repeatedly said to say or enter my credit card number and took forever to give me the option to speak with a rep. The guy I finally spoke with was very hard to understand and a bit pushy. When I asked if he could look me up by name, he said no. He needed my account number to find any notes on who called me and why. He would not shut up about my account number.
I hung up and called my bank directly. The number is valid, they said, and transferred me. The men I spoke with this time were very friendly and did not ask for an account number. They were able to find me in the system easily and it turns out I had a card opened with them (not sure how though) back in 2007 that was never activated.
So the phone number is valid... but I'd say there is likely a "scam company" calling and masking it some how. - Lafeen Mayasoff replies to Jason^-- Probably written by a Capitalone employee. "My card has a low interest rate and is accepted everywhere" lmao ya rite. Nice try Capitalone but we know you are a crappy budget credit card company who has awful customer service and can't even control their own telemarketing department.
- DebberCalls me almost every day and no one says anything. Starting to get really annoyed
