- Eureka!BELIEVE IT OR NOT! While reading this actual web page, they called again! This was the 2nd call today. They were asking for my wife to talk about changes to her account. I said, "You mean like the overlimit fees waiver, etc?" He was shocked! I told him I wanted all solicitation calls from Capital One to stop and that the only time I wanted to hear from them was in a case of suspected fraud. The kicker? He said, "So, do you want me to put you on our do not call list?" I fell over backwards in my chair! "YES!" We'll see whether or not this actually happens...

- Dave replies to china syndromeIt is NOT Capital One. They will never ask you for your number, especially in an automated fashion. They won't ask you for your number, because they have it!
- tired cell| 1 replyYes, I keep getting calls from them too. First couple of times I answered & when asked to verify my info, I said I'm not comfortable doing that since you called me. One lady argued with me (!) about it, that verifying my billing address couldn't do me any harm. Can you believe that?!?! They've now been calling me a couple times a week for several months & I no longer bother answering, and they don't leave a voicemail. If this were really important from Capt One, they would've sent me a letter by now. I do not believe this is Capt One for real, and if it is they should know better than to make calls like this, so screw em. Screw em if it's telemarkeers, and screw em if it's a scam.
- NRKJust now I received a call from this number also nobody answered on the opposite side. I don't know why they called me. I don't know whether its related or not, just sharing with you guys.
Couple of months from I received a call from this number after 7PM(PST) and caller told me that, he is calling from CapitalOne and going verify my personal details and address. I said that I can't share with you and disconnected the call. After a month one of credit cards (not the CapitalOne) had fraud transaction something related with USPS xxxx1234. I complained about this to the bank and reverted the transaction. I don't whether the phone call and fraud transaction were related. - damianttannoying twice everyday

- MMSounds like fraud. It calls each day for one beep, and definitely wants a call back from you, answers as CapitalOne (automated). I don't have any accounts at CapitalOne... anyway if I had, could not provide any account to unverified numbers. Stay alert people!
- Eureka!Well, yelling at them the yesterday (see my earlier post) and them telling me that they were going to put me on their "do not call list" had no effect. They have called twice more today. I absolutely hate Capital One. All they want us to do is opt in to their "over the limit fee" scheme.

- JustinThe automated message was asking for personal information (Account #, etc.) Does not leave a message when I do not answer.
- Caller: Capital One
- michelleThat number has been calling my cell phone for 5 days now - multiple times a day. I have a Capital One account in good standing. I noticed it started calling on the date my statement was due - that I have already paid. Maybe a glitch in the system? This isn't the first time they have repeatedly called from this number. This company needs to get its act together.
- Diane| 1 replyCall the 800 number back. You will be prompted to enter in your 16-digit account #. Ignore that and just keep pressing "0" at each prompt until you are finally transferred to a customer service rep.
Explain to the rep why you are calling. I gave her my name but not my account number, even though she asked. I told her all she needed was my cell phone number and told her to put my name on their do-not-call list.
She said OK & that it the calls will stop in a couple of weeks. If in a couple of weeks the calls keep coming, I will call them again. I advise being polite but firm, yelling at the customer service rep doesn't help. (I think they're in India anyway, and could probably care less).- Caller: Capital One

- HerbMinnI manage a fraud prevention company and a woman complained to me about getting a recorded call from this number. She said it was "threatening" in nature and insisted she call another number for credit card information. She was smart enough not to call, but sent it on to me.
- spcmky| 1 replyI've received numerous calls from this number, though up until a week ago I was not home to take them. When they did catch me at home last week, I politely told the Capital One rep to place me on their no-call list. The rep did so without argument. He did warn me that I might receive calls for up to three weeks, which seems pretty standard.
Fast forward to today -- I receive another call from this number. It was an automated message, intimidating in tone, warning me that if I do not call a provided 800 number it may negatively impact me. (At no point did the automated message identify the caller as Capital One.) Frankly, I find it despicable that they're resorting to scare tactics to try an elicit a response. One thing is for sure, Capital One will never get my business. - reportInformation for Filing Telemarketing complaints in Canada and the United States:

http://www.bbb.org/us/ - KHI have a Capital One card, but they often call for no reason, and don't leave a message. I don't owe a payment - I don't even have a balance on my card. They must hate that and are trying to solicit something else, like a balance transfer. Wish they would leave a message or leave me alone. I'm not answering a solicitation call.

- Keith.Annoying [***] keep calling, for no reason; there's nothing to get out of it b/c they happen to not be selling anything. Its just pure harassment. A few times a day they're calling.
- StephReceived several calls from 800-955-7070 yesterday; didn't answer. After googling the number, I realized it was Capital One. So, this morning when they called again, I answered. The guy was polite, immediately identified himself as Tyler, and stated that he was calling from Capital One. He provided the last four numbers of my CC account that he was calling about, and did not ask me for ANY other private information, other than my zip code. He explained that they were calling to let me know of the recent changes that are taking place, specifically regarding the over-the-limit charges, and asked if I wanted to continue to be able to have this option (since I never go over the limit on my credit cards, I answered "no"). He thanked me for my time, and hung up. The entire call lasted less than 2 minutes.

- LisaSo after reading a lot of this blog, I chose what I thought was good info and called Capitol One directly. I called them on the number that was printed on the back of my credit card and put in my real acct number and transferred to a representative and asked about "opting out". They actually call it "Changing your privacy preferences/customer privacy request" They assisted me in taking me off phone, direct mail and email marketing. Verified that I would still receive correspondence in written form as it pertains to my account only. Wow that was sure easier then ignoring or hang up calls I've been dealing with for a long time! Good luck everyone!!!!

- LisaKay replies to spcmkyI just posted my experience with the Capitol One group and they said 2-3 weeks for calls to stop......hope mine gets better and I don't experience what you did. I have an account but have a very small balance and would pay in full and cancel if this continues or becomes intimidating. Good luck, please let me know if it stopped or you've spoke to anyone.
