Ok so i met a female on a dating site posing as a 18 year old and the whole exchange of pics thing happened i got a call from a lexington detective saying that he got the transcript and ran a "background" check on me and he has the number to the father to talk to me. i called the father and he said that the daughter is now in the hospital and she needs to go to therapy and need $1800 dollars and he will tell the detective we settled it civilly and im trying to see if im being scammed. the number to the "detective" (i cant remember his name) is 643-640-8050 and the "dad" is 843-952-3868 so i need some insight to whether or not im possibly being scammed. any insight

Try calling the REAL  police or law enforcement agency they claim to belong to  & report this EXTORTION SCAM.

They are telling you this will go away of you pay, correct??  It just does NOT work that way!

I just got the call today. Man people are crazy. I did some research. I told him I have a lawyer and now he backed away and changed the number.

This website just saved my ass. The exact thing happened to me but the numbers were 803-521-7504 and 864-420-7765. These guys are serious [***]. Thanks to whoever originally posted this. I got a call saying the exact same thing. I panicked, called them back, talked to the "dad", and actually started the transfer of 2400. Then I decided to calm down and realized that things weren't adding up. I did some google searches, found this, and now I'm feeling much better. I also called the Lexington Police Department and asked about Nicholas Carver. They said I'm the second person to ask today about him. Apparently there actually is a real Nicholas Carver but he would not be calling anyone about a chatroom. They actually asked me to make a report.

People suck sometimes.

Police do not call you and ask for money so that you can avoid charges.  That is called a bribe and is illegal and would get both you and the officer in trouble.  they have come up with the underage thing because it is scary.  Remember that if they thought you were a sexual predator, they would simply show up and take you downtown for questioning/charges.

I had this happen to me as well... it's a scam, plain and simple.

File a report with that agency. And contact the FBI on this also.    Unless these posters come back, reply's are not sent out to anonymous posters, they may not ever see it.

I received the same type of phone call supposidly from the dad of an underage girl I met on Pof  that clearly stated she was 28 and when she texted me she never said anything about being underage.  He claimed she used his phone to text me and he later found her phone.  Then calls me back said she was in the hospital and slit her wrist and demanded money for her medical bills to not press charges and that he contacted the fbi. I actually contacted the fbi in Washington and they said I was at no grounds for trouble considering I didn't know the girl was supposidly underage.,and that they had been receiving alot of complaints over these calls

Same thing happened to me too from 2026411131. Same story I met a girl from an online dating site POF said she was 28 we exchanged text she never stated she was under 18. Got a call from supposidly the dad she was using his phone and he found it.  He said he didn't wanna press charges or get the fbi involved . Got a call later from supposidly the mother stating she had slit her wrist and wanted money to cover the medical bills and consuling and they wouldn't press charges I never paid. I called the fbi and they said they've been getting alot of complaints on these scams  and that the fbi never called me.  I think they are using the fake number and text apps for computers and phones

For Christ's sake.  You are not only being scammed, you are the victim of an attempted extortion.  DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE ANYTHING.  This is an ongoing scam/extortionist plot.  Go to the police and make a report of an extortion attempt.  Take a long a copy of this thread.

Go to the police and make a complaint of extortion.  Take along a copy of this thread.  Give the police as much information as you can.

You should make a complaint to the Lexington County Sheiff.  Bring along a copy of this thread.  If someone is impersonating a sheriff I think the authorities would want to know about it.  You cannot do this on the phone.  You have to sitt down with a detective and discuss the matter in person.  If you have recordings take them with you .

Why would you pay an extortionist?  Go to your local police station and make a complaint of extortion..  Christ.  Never pay these people.  Print out this thread.

Report it to the police immediately and Print out a copy of this thread.  Go in person.  Make a formal report.  DO NOT CONTACT THE EXTORTIONIST .  Block the number.
