- Black Boots| 1 replyI did a bit more searching about this number. There were quite a few people who said it was a legit call and that Spectrum was updating the old Time Warner. Then there were these:
*From Ask Spectrum on Twitter: "I'm not showing that number listed in our database although it may be from a regional center. I would recommend contacting our main service number directly at 1-855-707-7328 "

SO WHO KNOWS? Personally, I'm not calling that number to arrange for a stranger to come to my house to do some "preventative maintenance." All this has made me tired. I'm going to go take a nap. - PamYup, I got the same text today. I didn't call the number and don't intend to.

- MaryI received this text message today: We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you.
I have had some issues with having to reboot my modem, sometimes once a week, sometimes a little longer. So based on some people suggesting that this is a legitimate text, I called the technical issues department at Spectrum customer service at 833-267-6094. They verified that the number given in the text and the address that the text came from is indeed Spectrum and that I should contact the number given in the text.
The lady at 833-778-2754 said that a signal issue had been detected during routine maintenance and that they want to come onto the property to check their wiring and equipment. I have an appointment to be checked out now.
There are a lot of scammers out there, but there are ways to check up on things. I am glad they notified me and that they can come out so quickly. Now maybe I won't have to reboot my modem so often.- Caller: Spectrum

- MikeFor the people claiming this is legit - what exactly was the problem in the first place? Some have said the technician came out and fixed it. What exactly is "it" ? The consensus here is that everyone receiving these texts arent having any service issue to begin with, so if someone could share what the actual problem was and why the alert was triggered, that would definitely be helpful. If a technician came out, what did he do? Change splitter? Replace a cable? Replace your modem? What exactly?
- Sharon replies to Johnthe area code 833 does not belong anywhere geographically - Scammers purchase this area code to use. I got the same text you mentioned, but not returning call.
- GregGot text message from 833-778-2754 in the text it said. Spectrum: We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you.
I called a Spectrum at a number which I knew 100% was them. I asked them about the text message and even read it to them word from word. They claimed it was a preventive maintenance type of thing. Where they check everything over and replace stuff that needs to be replaced.- Call type: Text message

- MikeLol I’m a scammer now? Did I ever say anything was legit? Nope - just a asked for some follow up and questioned you responding to every single message. You’re the one who is intellectually challenged and can’t read. God knows how many of these posts you comment on. Some creepy old man and his stupid dog. Get a life and let people read comments from other people instead of super nerd moderator that you think you are
- Steve BReceived the text from the 87598 saying the same text message, Spectrum detected a problem . . .and to call the 833-778-2754 number. Not gonna do it.

- James replies to JohnJust called Spectrum Service with regards to this email notification and they verified it was from them and I set up an appointment for a service call. NOT A SCAM !!!!!
- Tired of All thisMy story: Spectrum is vicious, I dumped my cable with them 2 and half years ago after 30 years with Time Warner and Spectrum. I own all my own equipment and only have Spectrum for internet. They have tried every nasty technique since 2019 to get back into my house, to upgrade my equipment, get me back on an expensive plan, home phone, cell phones, bundle everything, you name it. They send their crap in the mail every other week and nothing has worked on me. I just got the same email as everyone else here, there's "a problem" we have detected from Spectrum. There's no problem! Spectrum's the problem! I have run every scan on every device, I've logged into my Spectrum account, run all their scans, have done my own upload/download speed tests. There's no problem. So either way legit or not, don't fall for this number! So sick of this crap.

- Alaina BLike others I received this text and did not trust it (even after reading through pages of these and seeing some people who were saying it’s legit, I still didn’t trust it). So I called Spectrum through their customer service number that I Googled and confirmed on my bill. Believe it or not, it is NOT a scam (and no, I’m not the scammer using random names trying to convince people to fall for it). Like others have said they are being proactive trying to fix errors they are detecting. I’m just as surprised as everyone else who confirmed it is legit as I’ve dealt with Spectrum for years and getting them to come out on time can be a joke. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Look up Spectrum’s customer service number and call them for yourself.
